  1. A fanny pack designed for a gun works fine. A 10 shot G27 works better. I keep the Judge for Slithering things around the property.
  2. I now use Mike's in Tazewell for most of my shopping. Sometimes I go to his location in Middlesboro for long guns. I do not know what he would charge for a transfer as I usually buy other items when I have a transfer. I found I get better service when I develop a relationship with the store but then I spent 37 years in customer service. so tend to repeat business where I get better service.
  3. I am not really into photos but will consider. My cousin had the modifications made in the 50s or 60s but as he has "Oldtimers" the exact history is in question. The work was done here in Tennessee and I bought the gun 2 years ago from him.
  4. 10 rounds vs 5! 38 vs 40! I have both but carry the 40 Glock model 27 w Crimson Trace and pinkie rest. I have large hands and am not comfortable with the grip on the Smith. The SW was "pimped" with Ivory and engraving and that is probably why I still keep that wheel gun.
  5. The BASS I got has a tight trigger and pulls up but the Judge with bird shot is OK for the purpose. With Crimson Trace I get closer without bothering about vision issues.
  6. I take my 4 in Judge with me for snakes when I walk around the property because my Glock 27 does not have a good spread for the Copperheads. My 870 is a little bulky for my backpack and does not fit into my holster.
  7. That is between Clinch Mtn and Clinch River just after it becomes Norris Lake. (Well the river of course I do not expect you to believe the Mtn becomes a lake;)). I chose the name Desert Rat as I recently retired from 54 years living in the desert south west (Mojave Desert/ Las Vegas). I moved here to watch the trees grow and because my parents were raised here. I currently live about 4 miles from where my Great Grand Mother was raised. and my mothers family was from Powell Valley ( specifically Speedwell). I also got back into weapons for varmints and Home Protection ( Those may be the same:tinfoil:). That brought me to this site. I also answer to Mike as that is the name I was born with!
  8. Both of my Sigma 9s are now safe queens because my wife and daughter can not pull the trigger. They are happier with the Glock. When I checked last with the gun shop they offered $225 for a trade in.
  9. I will jump in on te side of the Glock 27. Some claim a 9mm would be better but I used to shoot 357 and 44 mag. I looked at a small Kimber the other day but do not want to increase my ammo diversity as I now have the "Soft" rounds 380, 38 spc, 357, 9mm, and 40. If interested in a different system look at 556p or Bushmaster carbon 15 pistol. Of course these would be less than concealed carry items. For the small footprint I chose the 380 LCP and got my wife a Sig 238 rainbow. My primary CCW is the Glock 27.
