Why did you start carrying?
1pointofview replied to Sandman's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
i starting carrying because I live in franklin. Franklin is in one of the wealthiest counties in the nation. over the last year there have been a number of hold ups, stabbings and car jackings in broad daylight in the middle of busy areas. criminals see all the nice cars and nice looking people and see opportunities. well with a wife and 2 daughters, that crap aint going to fly around me. I carry everywhere I can and everytime I find a place that is posted i make it a point to tell the manager how he just lost my business -
as many as it takes apparently

Waiting to hear Mr Haas defend the politically "diverse" news room again. If it was so politically diverse, everything that is printed would not be so biased. -
Clearing your weapon when handling should be a religious process. When I pick up any one of my firearms l, the first thing I do is check the chambers. Mostly because I love the sound of racking a firearm. But seriously, checking your weapon is the most important thing you can do. I have never been shown a firearm at a store without them checking the chamber first. And they probably check the same weapon 100 times.

Funny this topic should appear. I have a load of cards from the 80-90s and pulled them out to see what I had. My quandary at this point is whether to get a hundred bucks or so now or wait 20-30 years and maybe get a thousand. I have a load of cards and some other memorabilia and prob just means more than the value to me. But I have been on a kick of getting rid of the clutter in my life and a few extra bucks is never a bad thing. I guess I may Try and organize it a put some pictures up on on eBay or something.

Traveling out of the state with HCP

In my HCP class I was told I could travel through states like ill, and such with my firearm as long as I am not staying in the state. But then others told me that there might be stipulations, the nra site has a good page explaining nationwide laws -

Young woman raped in Vanderbilt parking garage
1pointofview replied to QuietDan's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
most 21 year old kids don't own pistols. very few I knew did. we all owned were rifles and such. My point is if start off with letting staff carry if permitted. I guess it would be ok for 21 or older to carry if they are permitted but my points is to work in a direction. the moment the law is changed and something happens the pee in their pants crowds will fight to roll back carry ability. there are 2 trains of thought, the gradual movement in a direction or the drastic shift. both have their good and bad points but at this point. In a college atmosphere full of left wing ideologs you will never get a carry for all policy passed off the bat, you will have to move in a direction gradually so stats can overcome narrative -

here is my only issue with campus carry. I think staff and instructors should be able to carry but the young generations are not being brought up around firearms like a lot have us were and I just don't think they can handle the responsibility. I mean you would almost be a SR by the time you can even legally own and carry a hand gun. But staff should be able to carry with a permit. -
With great power come great responsibility grasshopper

hope the girl pulls through. couple guys in a closet looking a gun he was thinking about selling. he dropped the mag but did not clear the chamber and the gun "went off" (aka dumbarse pulled the trigger) http://www.theblaze.com/stories/pastors-daughter-accidentally-shot-in-the-head-inside-fl-church/

my catholic father in law ate lunch with us today and said the service today was blasting the government's meddling in religion. I am very happy the catholic church has finally stopped rolling over. For years, Catholics and many other religions like Presbyterians ( I go to a Presbyterian church) has started to cozy up to the progressive agenda. Glad to see that the church has begun to see that capitulation to government will drive them out of existence because with government, religion is their biggest obstacle and in every civilization, once society has "evolved" and sophisticated religion begins to be dissolved and society blindly falls

to be the only indoor range in Franklin you would think this place would be flippin rockin. I have been in there maybe 4 times and used the range 1 time. making people buy his ammo and charging $15 for non members for an hour or 2 is simply toooo high. oh well, this would be a great opportunity for someone who wants to service the needs of thousands of gun owners in williamson county.

well about 6-7 years ago i watched a crazed lady pull up in the parking lot of a cool springs office building and shoot a lady at point blank range then drive off to the back of the parking lot and end herself. point is, people with bad intentions are going to get you. more than likely if they sneak up on you there is not much you can do other than hope the good Lord is looking out for you. But if you have a chance, it would be nice to be able to defend yourself.

shiny and it go bang. all that is missing is it doubling as a universal remote with a beer dispenser and you could go ahead and sign me up for the pearly gates
