When standing your ground, how far should you go?

WI law may be different than TN law in that regard. He was "fired upon" so that may also be the deciding factor. -
"Denver-based Alfred Manufacturing, announced Friday afternoon that if the measure passes, the company will leave the state." Looks like Magpul's supporting businesses agree with the move. "Alfred also said that the bill has caused him to freeze a planned expansion of plans in Colorado." Looks like they make quite a bit more than just pmags as well. http://www.alfredmfg.com/

I think Magpul will be just fine with the move, last night at dinner my wife said to one of our friends that she didn't realize they even made "gun parts" until she saw it on the news. My dad asked her what the heck she thought that they made and she replied "iPhone cases". :) He said that he didn't even know that they made iPhone cases! I had forgotten that I got her a pink magpul iphone case about 2 years ago b/c at the time I coundn't easily find any other american made cases in that style. :woohoo:

Nope, just squirrels, rabbits, and moles driving me crazy here. The boar problem is on our family property up in Fentress county. -

St. Louis homeowner kills 15-year-old burglar, police say

Kinda depends on the property sometimes, at my sister in law's place in St. Louis she has no lot so you can be on the public sidewalk and touch her front windows(kinday hard to justify in my book until they break the plain). At my place here in town they are already 100+ feet onto my property before they can touch the house(pretty easy to judge intent by then), where as our property up on the plateau is nearly 60 acres so if they are anywhere near the house (well past the no trespassing signs) the neighbors won't even think anything of the gunshot other than to ask me if I got that boar I was after the following morning if they happen to run into me at the co-op. :pleased: -
What's the closest thing to them that has a sign? I've driven around that area 2x looking for this place in the last few weeks and seen nothing identifying a gun shop.

I can find no such press release from DHS, .gov, or any credible source. (heck, I can't even find any "not so credible" souces saying this) -
Anyone know anything about Amazon's new policies?
2.ooohhh replied to Chris's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Amazon has had the nearly the same policy of "prohibited items" since I started selling there back in 2007. My list from my welcome email is missing "zip guns" and "receivers" though. The enforcement of the policies that they do have is VERY lax, b/c they make money off every sale, they want as many items up for sale as possible. The only time I've had an issue was when a "customer" complained about a listing I had, though I believe it was actually a "compeditor" trying to sell the same item for much more $$$. My guess in this case is that the complaintant was selling something against amazon's policy and probably has been for years, but now a lefty customer stumbled upon the item, claimed that they were "offended by the seller's blatant disregard of amazon policy" and pretty much forced amazon to review the seller's listings or catch the stink of some blogger or journalist publishing that they are "letting" sellers sell items against their own policies.(they pretty much always have) -

I haven't seen their prohibited list of items change but I have seen individual sellers trying to get around it to make a buck. They made it pretty clear in their policies for sellers that they didn't want slide fire stocks on their site yet. . . . http://amzn.com/B0085ZX2YI http://amzn.com/B0085ZX2RK http://amzn.com/B0085ZX2MA -
500rd bulk 308 140gr $0.91 per round in stock
2.ooohhh replied to JohnC's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Works fine for most shooting(some guns are a little picky though), just not as good for reloading. This will still be of interest to those who aready have plenty of brass in .308 or who don't reload. I typically keep a few aluminum/steel case reloads around for a few of my guns but usually only for use in the boat so I don't go overboard trying to catch my brass. :pleased: -

Nashville Armory IDPA Feb 12 - 7:00
2.ooohhh replied to JimHouchin's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
At $25 there are already approacing full matches for the size of the venue.(we're not experienceing a shortage of shooters willing to pay) I'm not a very experienced IDPA shooter, but I've recently become quite familiar with the cost of building an indoor range and have to say I'm amazed NA has gotten the range fees as low as they have with the way they are equipped. You also have to remember that they are in a pretty prime location, within minutes of downtown, which also doesn't come cheap. I work too much, but thanks to a kind friend with more means than myself and the availability of the NA I still get to put 2k rounds down range a month on average. IDPA is only 5% of that and it's the most expensive by far, (just under $1 per shot tuesday night by the time you figure cost of factoy loads) but the IDPA matches I've been able to attend so far are the best practice I get in all month and the most rewarding, showing me that all the time and money i'm putting in elsewhere is increasing my skill level. Dale gives me a hard time often and I really appreciate it, b/c shooting at a private range with no range officer to watch me I have develeoped some bad range habits I just wasn't realizing myself. Michael gave me a great tip about speeding up my reloads, if I can just get over the cringe when my currently unobtainium hicap mags bounce off the unforgiving concrete floor. Jim's going to have me walking in circles while I shoot all next week, which will probably make my friend think I've finally gone off the deep end but it will hopefully further improve my accuracy on the move. All of the above is vary hard to figure out on my own even with excellent resources, there's just no quick replacement for a group of experienced shooters watching your runs and offering advice. That is what makes IDPA worth whatever it costs at NA to me. -
While I might do that in an older truck that never gets parked in a high crime area, replacing a window or top on my BMW b/c someone decided to try and steal a shotgun in the back seat isn't worth the hassle or the expense. All valuables that won't fit in the lockbox under my seat go in the trunk. OP stated nothing about going to the range but even so often I end up parked downtown for 8 hours before I head to the range so security during the day is more critical than the actual 20 min. drive to the range.

See 6.8 AR's post below, My screen was 1080x1852 so it's not like it wasn't wide enough for the content. Doesn't do it on every post only occasionally and is unaffected by restart and cache clearing. Not expecting much, more of just a heads up to the admins in case your messing around looking for something else to do to further improve the site.(When do forum admins ever really get time for that, LOL) Erik

Sorry about that, your post formatted very differently between the original post and when I see it quoted. The last 4 words were broken out over 2 lines so I may not have seen them correctly at first glance.

Yes but just like I as a gun owner doesn't want guns judged by the acts of a few bad apples with guns, I don't want drones catagorically rallied against b/c of politicians bad ideas of uses for them. We must clearly take issue with those in office who would misuse the drones and their actions, rather than the drones themselves.

They are limited to 10 per, 2x10+1 =21 bullets you woud have at start with your 2 mags, so you should be fine so long as you don't need more than 9 extra shots. See you there!

I've had a bullet bucket in the house as long as I can remember to point firearms into when checking function/decocking/pulling triggers for takedown. My first was gramps old metal bucket filled with sand, gravel, and steel. The new one I built a few years ago is filled with a 3/8" steel plate at the bottom covered with a full bag of rubber mulch that I compressed by vibrating it to pack it in with an air hammer. Tested one in the backyard and it'll stop everything I carry dead cold. I wouldn't want to use it as a long term backstop but for making a safe direction to point a firearm in a workspace or next to a nightstand it's hard to beat, luckily I've never had a round discharged into one while it was in the house. . .yet.

Yeah but winchester asks .40 for the brass alone, I see it as buying for brass and getting 200 loaded training rounds for the wife for free. I've had good luck getting far better accuracy out of the winchester brass the 2nd time around anyway. If I could have bought 200 of the LC I would have jumped on it but 500 is more than I needed ATM.

I use a husky tool bag with a maxpedition pistol rug inside for a range bag It draws little attention and carries quite the range loadout when needed. Not that the larue you posted isn't splendid looking but mine was $12.99 on sale and doesn't look like a handgun is contained within. While easily holding a dozen+ magazines, basic cleaning supplies, holster, mag pouches, eyes and ears. http://www.homedepot.com/Tools-Hardware-Tool-Storage-Bags-Cases-Bucket-Storage/Husky/h_d1/N-5yc1vZc2g6Zrd/R-202018007/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&storeId=10051#.URk6DB1Pxu4 Take note of the reviews on the bag you posted, not a bad thing but excellent info given by the reviewer. "I figured at 8" tall would be a sufficient height for a full size pistol in this case its not. For example my HK45 has a height of 5.83" but because of the padding the magwell comes right to the top of the padded inserts and there fore doesn't offer full protection."
