  1. When I was after Jeff's kit I found bolt hold open followers that apparently work though I didn't ever try them since I got the sigpower kit.   http://blackdogmachinellc.net/follower-bolt-hold-open.aspx
  2. It took me a little while(just over a month) for the parts to be in stock a few months ago but I love the kit, it was well worth the wait and Jeff was super nice about the wait and my anticipation.
  3. He should have read the TOS before he clicked accept. Then he should have read them again before attempting to sue.       1. General.     M. Compliance with Laws. 4. I might be biased but I'd pick the Ford every time.  F-250 if you can swing it.  The F-350 I tow with is the older 7.3 and it gets 14-14 MPG everywhere, regardless of if it's empty or hauling several cars at once. Every F-150 I've borrowed off the lot has impressed me though all have been either the ecoboost or the V8. The sync is a nice system if your going to spend hours in it on a regular basis, I used it to listen to my audio books and navigate on a recent 8 hour trip and was quite impressed. If you are getting a gasser don't be afraid to change out the axle ratios to suite your needs. A great ratio for towing a really heavy load is not generally the best for optimum fuel mileage unloaded and some of the "off road" packages drop the gearing low enough to KILL fuel mileage if you don't actually need the off road capability.
  5. "The flexibility of the courts to address changing expectations of society with the passing of time is firmly in place within the Constitution, in the Bill of Rights .A dog is now protected from a “wrongful death.”"     So maybe I'm not old enough to see this particular change in society but I'm fairly certain that if my great grandfather was still around he would have believed that police shouldn't shoot his dogs either, he just likely didn't think it was in need of clarifying in his courtroom.
  6. I bet for every 1 member trying to turn a profit there are a half dozen either giving it away to get children into shooting or selling it at their cost.  :2cents:  (I know I have and have seen others doing it as well)
  7.   It very well could be, but I doubt that's the case in ANY college town. Vanderbilt had 3 DUIs on or within sight of our campus for the same timeframe.
  8. Well from the stats it looks like Murfreesboro had 2 DUI arrests from 7/1-7/7. One at the checkpoint and one by a regular patrol officer in the course of his patrol. Seems like roadblock is a really expensive gig to get a single DUI. Also if only 2 DUIs were caught in the 'boro it doesn't seem as if the police there are looking very hard or perhaps they should change to a more efficient strategy. MNPD had 57 DUIs in the same timeframe not sure what those boys are doing but it looks sure looks pretty productive.
  9. If I don't have time to cast I typically buy from mastercast, my relatives in SoIL turned me on to them and since they are 5 min from the family up there I just pick them up when I'm up there to save the shipping. I have been happy with the berry's plated in the past as well as zero's when I can get decent prices on them.
  10.  If you start down the road of ISP inspection of internet data to see what it's being used for it's a VERY slippery slope. You quickly get into things like AT&T not wanting google voice apps on phone b/c it allows users to skirt long distance fees via IP telephony, and Verizon wanting to drop netflix b/c it competes with their home video offerings. You can also be easily targeted by a teenager spoofing a 911 call from your home(google "swatting") but you don't go after the ISPs for allowing the traffic you go after the user and the developers of apps that break that trust.
  11.   Yeah, but $5 per vehicle is cheap insurance especially when you may be carrying outside of TN where they can't as easily look up the permit.
  12. yep just $5,hardest part was getting the money order since I don't do checkbooks.
  13. I just got duplicates of my HCP for each vehicle to go in the envelope with my insurance and registration. I pretty much always have my wallet on me but should it get swiped or I forget it I'd still be legal.
  14. ^this    More accurate data is currently available by cross referencing the previously public HCP lists with the TN comptrollers real estate assessment data to gain HCP holder's property addresses. Luckily the HCP side of that loophole was closed back in April of this year and with every day that goes by the list the commercial appeal had been publishing gets less and less accurate as the data decays.
  15. I only drink when I am disarmed, usually this is a single pour of whisky as a nightcap. Otherwise I generally just don't drink so it's a non-issue.   A family member en-grained this into my skull from a very young age. There was a pistol and a flask of whisky sitting on the dresser, I could only choose one. If I chose the pistol I could also have the keys to his car for the night, choose the flask and I was hanging out at home. If I came home on time there would be a single pour of whisky on the dresser where the flask had been for a nightcap after I put the pistol away and returned his keys. If I came home late(only happened once or twice) there was the now empty glass sitting on a note that we would "talk in the morning".   My routine hasn't changed much in the last 20 years and I still almost always choose the pistol and the car keys and return home to my nightcap though I have to pour it myself and pay for the whisky these days. :-\
  16. Chicago can post whatever they like, I wouldn't visit there if I was paid to.(Literally refused to go to a work related conference b/c it was occurring in Chicago that year.) The southern portion of the state that my relatives all live in may as well be an extension of KY or MO. Here's a picture I took on the 4th of the parade. Note that it is not just a tractor leading the parade, it is a 1/2 of a mile long parade of only tractors decorated for the 4th. When I google "Chicago 4th of July" this is the first result (CBS/AP) CHICAGO - Violence in Chicago during the Fourth of July holiday weekend left ten people dead and at least 50 people injured, including two young boys shot in different parks, reports CBS Chicago.
  17. To make it simpler to buy ammo when I'm up there visiting family.  When many of the wal-marts here shelves were beginning to empty right after Christmas I loaded up a small cart up there no problem but it took me nearly an hour to convince the manager that it was in fact legal to sell it to me.   You can't even handle a gun in stores in IL without handing them a FOID card first. When I told the sales associate at Dick's that you could buy a long gun with a simple background check and a DL to prove your age at the local Wal-mart here in TN he literally didn't believe me.
  18. They refuse to issue FOID cards to non-residents currently and when I called yesterday to re attempt to begin the process they were unsure as to whether the ISP would exempt out of state CCW applicants entirely from the FOID process or rewrite the FOID process to allow out of state applicants. I have many gun lovin' family members in IL and none had and ANY issues getting FOID cards issued in a timely fashion until recently when the rush hit due the the recent court case.   Not that it's any indication of the number of CCW permits that will be issued but the ISP received 338,610 FOID applications in 2012 alone. Source   See also-(430 ILCS 65/5) (from Ch. 38, par. 83-5) The Department of State Police shall either approve or deny all applications within 30 days from the date they are received, and every applicant found qualified pursuant to Section 8 of this Act by the Department shall be entitled to a Firearm Owner's Identification Card upon the payment of a $10 fee.       FOID cards are shall issue as well. :)
  19.   It is shall issue. ;)
  20. Pretty cool that I can now carry from my door to my FIL's without breaking any silly IL laws! Now I just cross my fingers for some future reciprocity so I can possibly actually exit my vehicle in route in IL should I need gas or something. . . .   I would apply for the out of state permit but. . . when I called to start the process today I was told(again) that FOID cards are only issued to residents of IL. The law states that they will allow out of state IL permits but it looks like it will be a PITA to get as I pretty well already expected. :yuck:
  21. I did nearly the same and had to go through the TN process in it's entirety again. (just finished actually received my new TN HCP in the mail yesterday) Legally as my attorney explained it I gave up residency when I spent 45 days in OR. Upon returning to TN I could not exchange my OR permit for a TN permit(requirements differ) and my original TN permit had expired in the meantime. Now I have the TN part handled I'll go about getting the OR permit changed to a non-resident permit for when I visit. Keeping permits up in multiple states that do not share reciprocity sure adds an unnecessary layer of complexity to the whole mess.   My attorney advised that I could have likely renewed my permit while out of state since I still owned property, registered vehicles, and owned a business here but I didn't need it at the time as TN recognizes OR's permit for "visitors".
  22. It's your vacation, do whatever you need to to feel comfortable and relax.     I would carry my edc (p229) and be done b/c I am confident in my ability to defend myself with it and can carry it everywhere I NEED to go up that way. I would be more worried about my rifle being stolen while in my vehicle or cottage than needing to have it for defense since I wouldn't be carrying it on me like I would my pistol. So in my case dragging a rifle would add worry to my vacation rather than alleviate it.
  23. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-illinois-concealed-carry-pat-quinn,0,3834852.story   vs.   http://www.foxillinois.com/news/illinois/Lawmakers-Against-Quinns-Concealed-Carry-Changes-214613441.html     Should make for an interesting week. . .
  24. Dual residency is a complete PITA in most cases, glad he seems to have gotten this worked out.
