Being a bad idea and being illegal are very different. I don't think what he did or what you suggest are good ideas, but that doesn't mean that they are newsworthy. Then again most of what is on the "news" since the networks went to a 24 hour news cycle isn't newsworthy either. "Man with a gun. . ." gets ratings, which ATM means that Leonard's behavior will be national news.

Honestly the sad part is that this shouldn't be news at all. A man legally carried a rifle downtown. NOT NEWS.

The apple TV being "slow" is likely a function of your network speed. They come out of the box set for the best picture quality(1080p) you have to manually bump the quality down if your network/ISP can't keep up. When I first got it I too thought that my newer aTV(3rd gen) was "slow" until I brought it to work to use the airplay function for a presentation. After playing with it for a bit on the much faster network/internet here I upgraded my home's speed with the ISP and hardwired the aTVs where I could. It drastically changed my opinion of them as once given a solid high speed connection they are great.

Ill Sherrif to sieze guns from 3000 owners whos FOID cards revoked
2.ooohhh replied to a topic in General Chat
The article clearly claims that 10-20 residents have their FOID cards revoked in cook county each week. At 20(the high end) per week that's only 1040 per year. They don't specify where the 3k number thrown out came from but I would guess that it's either several years worth of backlog that they must have let creep up, or it's the count of FOID revoke-es that they have already visited in prior years.(several years from the looks of it) -
http://www.canistream.it/ will allow you to search show by show and see what's available on different services vs what you'll be wanting to purchase to stay current. After a year or tow of cutting the cord I realized I don't give a rat's behind whether I'm "current" on most shows. There are VERY few I pay for while on the other hand I have found lots of content that I missed years ago that is wonderful to watch now that the entire series are on streaming providers.

My wife refuses to use the roku's due to how bad some of the channels interfaces are. It's hit and miss but give the choice she'll always be on one of the apple TVs. I currently have a roku LT I have had it since the week it was released, it replaced my original roku. I never had an issue with either.

Netflix is all inclusive of their library for the $8 but much of it is older titles, amazon prime has quite a bit free for the members but newer content is available for purchase. Hulu is of much less use if you have OTA as most of it's shows are available OTA.

The Apple TV has the best interface of the bunch, but the roku is the better pick for someone not already invested in apple products. The roku has a great selection of video for what it costs but I believe the chromecast could well knock it off it's best of the low budget roost, I'll let you know a few days after it gets here.

Cut the cable around 5 years ago. Discussed it at length in this thread, happy to answer any other questions that you might have.

Man Victim of Home Break-in in Spring Hill, 2 Gun Safes Stolen
2.ooohhh replied to superduty's topic in General Chat
The news said it was a cache of 13 guns, which makes me think smaller cheaper safes that I might refer to as lock boxes. -
Your poll is flawed, by asking on TGO you're not asking the local LEOs your only asking a small subset of them who are likely to answer differently than the group as a whole.

I won't use the aerosol cans of tire sealer as they are the ones that corrode AL and also can make tire dismounting very dangerous due to flammable gases escaping the tire upon the breaking of the bead.
-
Yep, all depends on the year and options of the Mini.("S" models do not have a spare due to the exhaust routing using the area taken up by the standard model's spare tire well) Most newer BMWs don't come with spares either.
-
A bottle of tire sealant and a 12v pump will generally fix the non run-flats if the damage is repairable. Mini even offers a mobility kit like BMW's though the components can easily be sourced separately for cheaper. Mini Mobility Kit Sealant Pump

It will not bother the manufacturers, a steel wheeled spare only adds about 20 dollars to the cost of a vehicle, not meeting EPA standards the fines and penalties are far higher. Most new cars have come a long way from steel space saver spares. The wheels many new cars have are advanced aluminum alloys that play into vehicle dynamics far more than most drivers realize. New BMWs for example precisely monitor the rate of rotation of each of the wheels for the traction control, stability control, ABS systems and to alert the driver if a tire is going flat.(a deflating tire has a shorter radius skewing it's rotation numbers) To replace a wheel in this system the replacement need to be the same diameter and roughly the same weight, the space required to store of a full sized wheel and tire(or even a compact that will clear the brakes) is unacceptable to most owners since it is quite large. The reply from BMW was an "enhanced mobility kit" and a set of tires that can be safely driven on for 50 miles when flat. There is a gas guzzler tax (The Gas Guzzler Tax is imposed on manufacturers of new cars (not minivans, sport utility vehicles or pick-up trucks) that do not meet required fuel economy levels, to discourage the production and purchase of fuel-inefficient vehicles. The tax is collected by the Internal Revenue Service and paid by the manufacturer. The amount of the tax is displayed on the vehicle’s fuel economy label (the window sticker on new cars), a CAFE standards Penalty. Very few vehicles are still paying the GG tax. Last we purchased was an s600 with the v12 to say it was a gas hog would be putting it lightly. The number of cars on the list is dropping quickly as the years go by. Even the 662hp 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 gets good enough mileage to evade the GG tax. Source 5 states right now are considering milage taxes (NJ is considering .00193 per mile, which would ONLY add about 200 dollars per year to the average cost of driving a vehicle), the Fed has been (Off and On) considering a mileage tax, eventually it will come. Most states are considering this as a way to tax electric and hybrid vehicles which have made obsolete tax structures based on taxing the fuel at the pump. Source

I usually wait a full summer.(build in early spring, paint right before winter) Only way I've found to reliably speed up the process is to dry the lumber in an air conditioned environment for several weeks with good ventilation, then sand and finish. (likely not an option on your railings at this point)

Here's the original source, a blog set up in the last week. They even have handy water bottle labels.

And it's legal to do without notifying him since TN and MO are both single party consent states when it comes to voice recording. -
I used LBMC in Brentwood for several years and was very happy with the service, would have stayed with them if a family member who is an excellent CPA hadn't moved to town and offered to do my stuff as a side gig.

Protesters stop traffic on Interstate, What would you do?
2.ooohhh replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The first person on the interstate who came to a stop is how the mob came to block the interstate, if the drivers hadn't lifted their foot off the throttle the crowd likely wouldn't be out in the lanes of the interstate. I've dealt with mobs of people surrounding my vehicles in the roadway to stop or slow them way more than I like, once you come to a stop the crowd that just forced you to stop has taken control. If they want your load or to pull you out and beat you blind there is little you can do to stop it, sure a gun might keep them back for a bit but if traffic is backing up for miles it's gonna be a while before help can arrive and if your outnumbered 20-1 the odds are not in your favor. Now if your the unlucky guy behind the first person that stopped you didn't even get the choice, and if traffic is coming fast behind retreat may not be an option. That is a situation I would hate to be in but I would guess that if I couldn't get to the median and get around the mob or turn around that I would be finding a defendable position and posting up there until the mob dissipated or the calvary arrived. -
Done, thanks for the link!

Most muggles' eyes bulge when I tell them I replaced my router's firmware with dd-wrt so I could better configure it to my needs. I don't even want the imagine the calls I would get asking to explain and help configure if they were handed enterprise hardware. Though I do have a major soft spot for xirrus and cisco gear, I try and keep my home networks simpler than that.

AC is fully in the 5ghz spectrum where as N could utilize either 2.4ghz or 5ghz. The beam-forming included in the AC spec helps with speed especially for devises at the outskirts of the router's range but it doesn't actually improve the range from standard 5ghz N IRL. The 5ghz often actually reduces the range slightly but gains bandwidth due to utilizing a less cluttered section of the airwaves.
