15 min ago comcast went down in my area the ER flawlessly switched to my secondary provider, I didn't even realize the Cable modem was down until I walked by and saw the flashing red light in the rack. Log into my comcast acct. and. . . "Comcast is currently experiencing a service interruption in your area. Technicians are aware of the issue and are working toward resolution."

Actually that's not the way it's been happening in the markets Google Fiber has entered so far. In each the competition posed by google fiber has forced incumbent providers to either up speeds, lower prices, or in some cases both. http://www.technologyreview.com/news/514176/google-fibers-ripple-effect/ http://consumerist.com/2013/01/30/time-warner-boosts-my-speed-cuts-my-bill-i-just-happen-to-live-near-google-fiber/

daddyo- does the family use any streaming services and if so on what devices? How are those devices connected? I ask b/c recently (december?) our netflix account defaulted to post-play automatically what this means is that the next episode of a tv show will start right after the previous episode ends. Not too bad if your watching it, but downstairs in one of our setups the PS3 was connected to a HDMI switch which kept the ports active. What would happen is my wife would run on the treadmill while watching a TV show and then turn off the TV and amp with the universal IR remote.(that PS3 is not controllable via IR) The PS3 couldn't tell the TV was turned off due to the HDMI switch and was continuing to play HD episodes of the wife's show 24x7 until the series ended. Add to that the new "Ultra HD" and "5.1 audio" that netflix will stream if your device supports it and your video quality settings allow it (PS3 is in this group) and I was clocking around 6gb an hour. Moral of the story- log into Netflix / your account / Play back settings / set data usage to "medium" and turn off "play next episode automatically" if you have bandwidth caps. My wife can't tell the difference and I can always change it back if I'm watching something in the theater. I wish they allowed it on a per device basis but this fixed the issue for now. You can also use the viewing history to see how many shows you have watched in the last month to see if this might be the issue.

So this weekend I ran across a conundrum. My seemingly endless supply of "rifle powder" in the big jugs labeled in my grandpa's handwriting is now exhausted. I've been reloading a handful of calibers using his recipes including 308, 30/30, 30.06, and 300 savage from this powder supply for around 10 years now. The hitch is I don't know what the powder was as it was obviously bought in bulk and repackaged sometime around my 3rd birthday. I'm ok coming up with new loads as I wouldn't trust the page in the loading notebook's recipes if I wasn't absolutely sure of the powder being exactly the same but I would like to try a few of the more versatile powders so as to not have to stock a different powder for each caliber/load. A close friend who is also a re-loader has suggested I try IMR-3031 so I have picked a pound of that up and after checking my books it could be the mystery powder or really close but I wanted to pick the awesome collective brain the is TGO for any other possible options I should try. 1. If I wanted a "go-to rifle powder" that would work acceptably on a reasonably wide range of loads/calibers what would you suggest I start with? 2. If powders have all come so far in the last 30 years that this "one powder to rule them all" is not really the best strategy going forward how would you lump the loads and which bases would you be sure to cover with the powders now replacing the former single powder?

There is NO excuse for sloppy folding of an american flag that's just doing a bad job. As to the honor guard goofing off with the empty casket that's actually more common that you might think, though sharing it publicly was a terrible misstep. Humor is many people's way of coping with death. I see it often in funeral staff, coroners, and even our trauma docs. Though it should never be allowed to disgrace a person's funeral. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2009-02-25/news/0902230153_1_humor-deputy-coroner-sense

In my experience Oxford can be hit or miss depending on who's chair your in and how busy they are. I like all but one of the barbers there but I'm not too picky, and working right upstairs I can just come back another time if they are busy. I've never had a cut at Oxford that was bad enough to have me look elsewhere, or that didn't meet the wife's criteria.

I use the barbershop in the ground floor of the Oxford House here on campus. Several good barbers on staff. Address should be something close to 1313 21st ave South and there is free temporary parking right in front of the shop for customers. Best way to get to the parking spots is to turn in at Dixie place and keep right around the mobile home/construction trailer, the barber shop is on the other side of the trailer from where you entered. Oxford Barber Shop- https://plus.google.com/101419566887388613544/about?gl=us&hl=en Joe's Barber shop- is the other that is mentioned around here but I haven't tried it. https://plus.google.com/113649993770683017007/about?gl=us&hl=en "The Moose" as it's referred to around here is for college kids and wannabe country music stars who want highlights, dye jobs, and whatnot with the cut. The gals that own the place are great and all it's just not a "classic barber shop" if that's what your looking for. I had a gift certificate a few years back, it wasn't a bad cut but the atmosphere wasn't my thing. https://plus.google.com/110860145273439904766/about?gl=us&hl=en

Doubt that you'll find better than PSA's current weekend deal if your looking for a simple 5.56 16" upper. 16" CHF 5.56mm 1:7 M4A1 Profile (with FN barrel) @ $319 is a really good price.

You can use the kits or replace the door. When I moved into this current house the garage door was damaged so when I replaced it I just went with an r18 insulated clopay door. I'm super happy with the difference vs the kit insulated door that was here when we moved in, but if it wasn't already damaged I doubt I would have thought to look into replacing it.

I think the initial treatment is kind of a pain, but after mis-applying it the first go round and it getting sticky the researching and re-applying I like it a lot better now. If you don't clean all of the petroleum based lubes off the gun the frog lube will react and get thick/sticky. I had to take mine down and clean with alcohol, white gas, and then heated the metal parts with a heat gun and applied the FL. Allow it to set up until the metal completely cools and then buff the excess off almost like waxing a car. I then used a few drops of the liquid on my sig's rails. Note that you 'll want to use frog lube as your sole CLP on treated guns, any other CLPs that contain petroleum will react with the frog lube and cause issue. So far I've used it on 3 of my pistols and my TGO AR to experiment and like it but haven't committed for the rest of the collection quite yet.

If you tried a hairdryer/small heat gun that won't be enough, Red loctite requires the components to be heated to 500 degrees to release the bond. I typically use a torch. If it is in fact rocksett, it is much more heat resistant which is why it is shipped with suppressor mounts. -

When I called to check on an upper I ordered back in December the manager I spoke with mentioned all the crazy holiday sales were to empty the warehouse for a move, and I was assured that after the move service and shipping should both greatly improve for web customers. -
So while ipage offers VPS options they are kind of expensive for what you get. My favorite VPS of the 3 I manage is through Digital Ocean it's been incredible for the $10 a month I spend on it.
-
Here is iPage's page about their VPS and Dedicated Server options. These are what you step up to when you are beyond managed hosting. http://www.ipage.com/advanced-hosting/
-
Shared hosting is different than a Virtual Private Server, in a VPS each account gets their own server instance on which to host their site or sites. Each instance in limited in physical resources so there are no resource hogs. management of server load between multiple hosted sites becomes the job of the renter of the VPS rather than the hosting company and if one site is hogging all the resources you move it to it's own VPS, once it's large enough to be maxing it's own VPS out you graduate to your own dedicated server(s).

Yes mirroring is still an option, I use it on my larger forum to boost performance for our users overseas. But remember that mirroring typically doubles+ the cost as you now have multiple servers in different locations.
-
Actually on the business side bandwidth is often quoted as AT LEAST "X" Mbps because this the the way the SLAs are written. If your currently managing the forum are you not running any analytics? I run google analytics on my all my sites and between that and the server side reports I have no issues knowing what I need to host them. I know that my smaller forum(2k registered users) could be easily hosted on my current business account but not at the same time as my video servers(14 users), but my larger forum(78k registered users) is too large to really run on business accounts available at my current address. A few of my smaller sites are running on a virtual server that is tremendously cheap and VERY reliable compared to maintaining my own.

I use Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connect and Apple's Screen Sharing for computer to computer connections. From my iPhone or tablets I use Jump(not free) because it's the best mobile RDC I've found for handling multiple monitor setups from a small screen. At work we use Real VNC (also not free)

I removed the bottom drawers of my toolbox and filled the hollow space under the drawers with lead ingots and loose lead shot. Added around 1000 lbs to the bottom of the box(aside from the weight of the tools which bring the total to just over 2500 lbs) I've strapped a porsche engine to it to break a stubborn crank bolt loose with a 8' cheater bar and not had ANY issues. You can do the same with a stout built wood workbench if you build a strong lower shelf (nearly on the ground) that will hold a bunch of lead. . . .though I guess if you weren't into casting there wouldn't be much reason to have a few thousand pounds of lead stashed but I like to be able to move my benches occasionally and try to bolt as little to the shop floor as possible.

Well, I had some network Issues over the weekend that I ended up tracing back to the ancient router I had pulled out of storage before the holidays, so I did a little research and am back up and running and happy as can be. Ended up with a Ubiquity EdgeRouter Lite, spent around an hour configuring it and am back in business with slightly faster speeds to boot for anyone who has delved deep into dd-wrt or similar firmware to get more from a consumer router this little box may be a great next step for your network. EdgeRouter Lite If your don't consider yourself tech savvy this is NOT the router for you it is absolutely not Plug and Play, but it is great for the experienced who want more control over their home network.
