  1. ^THIS x2 When working up loads I stagger like this b/c I am weighing each charge individually. That way when I get around to cranking out a few hundred pistol rounds at a time on the progressive I don't have to take the time to do that knowing that i'm within .1 of a grain of my intended load.(often less if a powder measures well)
  2. While you say that there is no "discount" for not having cable look closer at your next bill. I assure you that you are absolutely paying additional taxes, franchise fees, ect. that are not charged to internet only accounts. When I left Comcast cable for internet only I think I saved an additional $5 a month in taxes and fees applied specifically to the TV portion of the bill. It doesn't seem like much but over the course of a single year it will pay for an entry level roku. (Fees do vary by location with the local FCC franchise contract, so YMMV)   That said I prefer to pay for quality via itunes or amazon. Screw ratings, I see purchasing content as directly voting with my wallet for what I want to see more of! When you pay for cable(whether watching it or not), you are helping to subsidize EVERYTHING you don't watch.       Introduction Here's a list of the common fees on your Comcast bill, along with an explanation of each. Regulatory Recovery Fee These monthly component fees are based on access line, subscriber or usage. They help defray the costs of complying with state regulations (such as telecom relay services for the visually/hearing impaired). Universal Connectivity Charge (or Federal Universal Service Fund) This fee is a percentage of interstate and international revenues. It supports a federal fund that ensures the availability of affordable communications services to low income and rural customers (as well as eligible schools, libraries and health care providers). State and Local 911 Tax This monthly tax is tallied by access line, telephone number, account, or usage. It helps states and localities fund the 911 and E911 systems, along with other emergency services. Federal Excise Tax This 3% tax is imposed by the federal government. State and Local Sales Tax This tax is owed to the state or local government by subscribers. Gross Receipts Taxes; State and Local Utility Taxes These taxes are levied on service providers; the cost is passed on to subscribers. State Communications Services Tax We collect this money on behalf of the state. Local Communications Services Tax The rate for this tax varies; we collect it on behalf of the state.   Source
  3. Nah, doesn't take much soap or lemishine in my experience for my thumbler, the media does most of the work, the soap and lemishine just make it easier.
  4. Really sharp looking, good work!
  5. Oh not much lemishine at all in my thumbler, I use around a single good drop of dish soap and a pinch of lemishine. Temp of the water rinsing doesn't seem to matter, but when filling the tumbler I generally get it as hot as I can from the faucet since that seems to help speed the process.
  6. I rinse with running water until it runs clear, then I drop the brass in a cardboard box, close it and shake it well.(the cardboard absorbs excess moisture to a point) Open the box for a couple of days further of drying while occasionally stirring/shaking and it's ready to load.
  7. A reality TV star/actor/whatever currently cashing in on the attention while it's there apparently. (I had to google him myself the first time I saw the ammo as I don't watch reality television save for the occasional mythbusters)
  8.   I've been boycotting the CCI troy Landry garbage, seems everywhere I have seen it in stock it's at least a dollar or more per 100 like his picture being on the box makes it better ammo than the standard mini mags.
  9. I can't wait until someone takes them over to put up some useful information. . .
  10. I have no real want for an auto knife, since I find assisted open just fine for most tasks, but I'm really excited I can get a few of the fixed blades I've been wanting for years now that were always off the table due to the 4"+ blade lengths!
  11.   For local OTA TV the best option is still an Antenna. (the converter is only needed for older non digital televisions)   http://www.antennaweb.org/ is the best resource to figure out what channels you can likely pick up in your location with different antennas.   If you are way out there and only want the major network shows Hulu+ will fill in for around 70%-80% of the content available OTA in Nashville. If you want live news or sports from the fringes of the broadcast area you'll have to get a big antennae pointed in the proper direction at a decent elevation.
  12.  Discussed pretty in depth in these 2 threads   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/68370-anybody-use-a-roku-or-other-streaming-device/?hl=apple   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/75059-finally-cutting-the-cable-cord/?hl=apple     I've swapped all of our family over to either Roku or Apple TVs for television content for several years now, Chromecast is getting better and better by the day but it's downfall IMHO is not having a dedicated remote.    BTW- as much as I love my Apple TVs I have suggested that everyone who doesn't already have a vested interest in iTunes content try roku first since it is a much better platform ATM since it doesn't tie you to a single content source. The other thing to remember with all these set top streaming boxes is that what's great today can be lagging behind or totally awesome tomorrow since they can dramatically change overnight with content deals and software updates.
  13. I find Bullseye to be my most often used pistol powder for plinking.
  14. My grandfather taught me to keep 5 years of supplies on hand, though as I found out when he passed away, "5 years" of his supplies lasted me around 10-15 years, mainly b/c I shoot several different calibers a lot more often than the ones he did. I would venture a guess I that I'm good on cast .38 SWC and .45 RN rounds and large pistol primers for a few generations. I have far less of most of the rifle rounds and the 9mm and .40 that I shoot so often currently. I generally reorder whenever I have enough cash and one of my frequently used pistol calibers is below 2000 rounds worth of components vs. around 500-1000 rounds for most of the rifle rounds. There are of course odd balls, I only have 200 brass or so for the .32 long and rarely cast for them so they are rarely many loaded or many spare components on hand.
  15. They send you an email in advance such as below-   "Your shipment(s) listed below is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.    Scheduled Delivery Date: Thursday, 03/20/2014 If the scheduled delivery needs to be changed, select the Tracking Number below or log on to ups.com to request a delivery change (e.g. reschedule or reroute) from the tracking detail. Shipment 1 Tracking Number: 1ZXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Shipper: PALMETTO STATE ARMORY Approximate Delivery Time: between 11:30 AM and 3:30 PM UPS Service: UPS Ground Signature Required "   If you see that a signature is required and you won't be there to sign you can log into the UPS website and release the package for delivery. Security is on you, I use a combo of friendly retired neighbors and security cameras covering where the packages are dropped off.
  16. Sign up for UPS "My Choice".  It allows you to release packages online in advance of their arrival on a case by case basis if you still want the package delivered. Do know that if you sign online you take all responsibility for the package not getting stolen off your doorstep.
  17. I've uses LPKs containing trigger groups from ptac, CMMG, and a PSA. The PSA and CMMG were both OK out of the box, nothing to write home about and still plenty of room for improvement to trigger weight and feel but acceptable for a bare bones AR build. One of the 3 ptac triggers I've installed was just like the PSA the other 2 needed a little finish work with a fine file and some valve grinding compound to remove burrs/machining marks before I was happy with the feel of them.
  18.   If you're prepping enough to have reasonably wide stock of meds you should really buy a used PDR to stick with them. They are cheap a year out of date and I doubt any of the new meds that are added each year will be what ones that you have access to post SHTF.(You should be stocking common time tested meds) Post SHTF PDRs are a much more reliable resource for medication indications, interactions, and dosing than some pages off the internet. (some websites are fine for medical information, but I've found a few that have GLARING omissions or downright incorrect information.)   Used PDRs around $10 on amazon
  19. I put one in my 22LR p229, but it was to add weight to the front of the gun so it balances better in the hand. I've never needed nor wanted one in any of my other guns.
  20. They may not be sold out, the ATF raided them as well a few days ago.    http://www.turnto23.com/news/local-news/federal-officers-searching-bakersfield-business-and-home-030714   http://www.thebangswitch.com/ep-armory-raided-by-the-atf/
  21. Working where I do, if I quit eating at any place serving decent food that either supported Obama or posted a gun buster I would likely starve, but I am always quite preferential to non-posted restaurants to the point that satco's manager and staff now know me on a first name basis. :stunned:
  22. I remember that incident, but have never had a similar experience, though I mainly just use A-H for experimenting with new loads. Once I find a load I really like I stock up on all the components to load it from David or online sources b/c A-H just isn't really competitive when purchasing in bulk.
  23. I'm in there at least once a week whenever I can make a run over to Gabby's for lunch. The odd hours take some getting used to, but the selections in supplies are slowly but surely improving. (fingers crossed)

    Sig P229

I love all 3 of my p229s. (.40, 9mm, .22LR) I've found very little they won't do, only thing is that to carry them they essentially demand a quality belt and holster. When I carry mine currently I'm either wearing a beltman.net horsehide belt with a sturdy OWB holster or a hank's CCW belt with my Crossbreed supertuck. If you do not properly support them they will quickly feel heavier than they are.
  25. I went over sig mag compatibility in this thread. -> http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/73296-just-picked-up-a-sig-p228/?hl=%2Bsig+%2Bmagazines+%2Bround#entry1075526 One thing I did't touch on in that thread is m9 surplus mags will work in the 228/229s as well with a little simple machining. This comes in handy when you stumble upon the m9 mags cheap.
