  1. If you're on a budget the UTG Pro is a great value for the money. I used one of the free float quad rails on my "truck gun" and it has been great for the $60 I gave for it so I wouldn't think twice about trying their super slim rail.
  2. I got them for about a day, then I marked the #s as spam in my Google voice account and they haven't gotten past the screen again.
  3. You've obviously never had hospital foodservice grits. I didn't even like Cream of wheat before I worked at the hospital, it's just that the oatmeal and the grits there are that bad. :ugh:
  4. If I'm cooking them at home grits hands down. If I'm having breakfast at work(most often) Cream of wheat b/c the grits there are terrible.

    Other hobby

I like to make stuff go fast! (especially BMW stuff)

    Gas prices

NO, a can am spyder on a good day gets 30mpg, is made to be "sporty", and costs $15k. http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/can-am/spyder   This is designed from the ground up to get 80+ mpg, is a bare bones commuter, and is supposed to cost around $6800 by using many off the shelf components.   To really pay for itself in a reasonable time frame with fuel savings you need to double(or better) your fuel mileage while keeping costs down. Previously I went from a BMW(5 series) that was getting 14-16 mpg to my beetle(only $2k + 28mpg) and it has payed for itself 2x over. Had I gotten a TDi at the time I likely wouldn't even be convinced on the Elio since I've seen VW TDis pull in 50mpg with light modifications.

    Gas prices

Well since I can't ride a motorcycle without major discomfort since my back injury I decided to start looking into an an alternative vehicle to save on gas commuting so I only have to fill up the sports cars/truck when I want/need to take them out. A fire breathing canyon carver of a car is not so much fun in traffic. It's still a year out and while it isn't much of a looker if it meets the predicted 80+ MPG I should save around $3k a year in fuel alone commuting. It also means I can go a little more crazy with my "weekend car" builds.
  8. I got lucky and grabbed a box of the chisel points before they were banned and stood in line at the supply closet for 3 hours to nab the last 2 bulk packs of standard staples.
  9. Haven't seen it before but that would certainly be worth enough to get me to consider buying more guns locally vs online even at a slightly higher price.
  10. I'm in the same boat, though my pocket has a small flashlight and my SAK cadet my primary weapon when at my desk is a vintage Swingline 747. (they sure don't make them like they used to) It may not be a technically be a "weapon" but I'm fairly certain I could bludgeon someone to death with it if need be.

  12. Kingston springs will put you too far out in many cases for on-call clinical staff. Bellview works ok and Peagram can depending on distance to 40.
  13. I lived in Lenox Village for 5 years commuting to Vandy. My first three I was writing my own schedule and working odd hours due to my call schedule. The last two years I had a new boss and was forced to work 8-5 m-f and the commute was TERRIBLE. Also as a LV homeowner I quickly grew to hate the HOA who tried telling me I couldn't restore my vintage BMW in my own garage. :/ As for renting there it would likely be OK while you look for somewhere else but I would advise against purchase without extensive research first.
  14. Most secure lock I have found are the abloy protec deadbolts. I pick locks for fun and these are one of the very few that I can't pick. Aside from that they are the only lock I have found that cannot be bumped b/c of a fundamental difference in the cylinder's design. Pair that cylinder with a grade 1 deadbolt, a solid door jamb, and the expanding bolt option and it will literally be easier to cut a new hole in the wall than opening the locked door. They are available direct from www.securitysnobs.com for reasonable prices once you realise how much more secure they are.
  15. I don't know that it would classify as super paranoid, ever try and run a new car without the computers?
  16. Win. 7sp3 on both my work machines and as a 2nd OS on my desktop at home. Big upgrade from XP especially on my machines with lots of ram.
  17. What is the item? I've seen that before when I ordered an LPK and an upper the upper was crossed out with a pen on the invoice. It was because the upper was being built and shipped 2 weeks later. When they state that uppers will take 10-15 days to ship they aren't kidding. Occasionally it takes even longer but I've always gotten what I ordered, eventually.
  18.   I think this is exactly why the ATF hasn't made an official ruling on paper or actually denied any forms. With no ruling or solid proof of one on paper yet there is essentially nothing to contest. For all we know if push came to shove at the moment the ATF would just say that a "clerical error" caused the holdup of the forms being processed. It seems to me they may just be weighing public reaction, while in the meantime. . .
  19. You can. It's been locked up a few times I've been there but if you ask the rangers nice they will generally unlock it.   Before the conference center had internet that tower was the only place I could check my email when I used to camp at FCF.
  20.     As much as I agree with this, what I've found is that once a business is posted most gun owners who care tend to write them off as "not wanting our business". If we don't occasionally stop in and politely remind them that they are continuing to loose our business they may not really notice the loss. Better yet the more of us that remind them frequently the more likely they are to really get the feeling of how much business they are loosing.     The only way(other than getting the law changed) I've thought of to short circuit the whole posted vs not posted thing is for gun owners to religiously organize.  :stir:
  21. If I'm reasonably well dressed and out eating I've started politely asking managers at places that are currently posted if they would like to change their mind to win a customer and get added to the "posted!" app as a non-posted alternative. I've had one business owner get angry b/c someone else had apparently stickered his business without asking him and one manager that removed the gunbuster while I stood there.(and it has stayed down) I've found that if they see the app and realize how easy it is for me to find a gun friendly alternative on the handy map and dine elsewhere(across the parking lot in some cases) that all of a sudden they don't so much like being on the list of restaurants I won't patronize. I've also talked to several that won't budge but I'm always very respectful of their opinions and thank them for taking the time to speak to a potential customer.
  22. While it could be April fools related I can't count the number of times I've traded a few ounces of powder with another reloader just to try a new powder out on a few loads without committing to a whole pound.
  23. The only precious metals I have enough of to stack are lead ingots.
  24.   Should be right around 2731 York Rd Pleasant View, TN 37146
  25. I personally think every 18yr old should be required to volunteer with the local rescue squad where they live. Nothing tamed my driving faster and scared me into wearing my seat belt regularly than helping recover a victim's body ejected during a crash. I remember telling my grandmother how hard it was mentally, and she stated that it used to be worse and showed me some crash investigation pics my grandfather had from his days with the THP before seat belts were commonplace, made me really glad to at least have the option of wearing a seat belt. :ugh:
