Yeah, the ID/EP departments seem to have schedules for maintaining, inspecting, and rotating into service pretty much everything currently in storage in case of emergency. It's an amazing thing seeing behind the scenes where all the little things that keep a hospital VUMC's size running like a clock. Shoot, today they are vaccinating over 12,000 staff, students, and faculty for the flu, but the event is also used as a training for mass vaccination of the population in general god forbid it should ever be required. http://news.vanderbilt.edu/2014/09/annual-flulapalooza-event-happens-oct-1/

^This, most people have no Idea how well prepared the US healthcare system and our population actually is for a pandemic when compared to these countries in Africa. The pictured row of isolation carts extends several dozen yards down the hallway and is just the tip of the iceberg. The kicker is that they aren't there b/c of the recent ebola outbreak, they've been lined up there "at the ready" since before I started working here in 2007. . . I'm not saying it won't ever happen here, I just don't see ebola being the pandemic that we have been planning for or worried about.

A rifle is typically only as far away as my car, if a location is posted and I have to go in, my pistol remains in the car. If some nutjob was cutting off coworker's heads with a knife I assure you I could snatch one,(it would be the rifle) and be back in a jiffy to put an end to it. Why if you had both in a vehicle would you assume he should grab for a pistol in an active attack situation if both are close at hand? Now if it's not a posted location the question then becomes why wasn't his pistol closer at hand than the rifle. :2cents:

Handgun carry is ruining my pants
2.ooohhh replied to walton6467's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
6 or 7, but I've found by varying what I carry and what holster I use, that I don't notice much if any wear on my belts/pants/guns. -
The bill also apparently lowers the permit age to 19, allows open carry, prevents MDs from asking about guns in the home, and prohibits discrimination against gun owners in housing. That's one heck of a bill from the looks of it. :stunned:

Proprietary Diagnostics on Chrysler Vehicles
2.ooohhh replied to HvBikeWlTravel's topic in General Chat
Not true, all ODB compliant vehicles(post 1996MY sold in the US) must have generic OBD codes stored in non-volatile memory in the vehicle's ecu accessible by OBD scanners and emissions stations. That is not to say that they can't also have proprietary codes(BMW has for 20 years now) which are often more in depth or cover systems that OBD doesn't require(I.E.:ABS and traction control codes). -
I'm not saying it can't happen but I've put together a half dozen "budget" PSA rifles with friends and NEVER seen a BCG that looked anything like that from them.

Yes, a lower will need to ship to an FFL.

Correct, they can't get any new data and some people helped make it drastically more expensive to keep hosting that old data. -
Commercial Appeal HCP database

They moved it a while back, not sure if it's gone or behind the paywall, but I suspect it's due to the amount of bandwidth it was consuming vs the income it was generating. :pleased: -
I went with a CORE battery powered weed eater, love it so far, though I've only had it 2 summers so far. Haven't had any issues with my hand me down stihl, echo, and honda small engines on my chainsaws, riding mower, and generator.

It's just some of the thanks I get for trying to give back to the community.

Well not so much fired employees, but a pretty similar situation in regards to healthcare. Some family members write letters, some complain to hospital administration, a few file lawsuits, then there is the occasional death threat just to keep it interesting.
-
Well I'm on my 3rd death threat this year, so I've kinda got it down to a science. 1. Document EVERYTHING. 2. Notify law enforcement. 3. Notify your employer if you feel you can.(If it gets serious, varying your daily schedule may become necessary and your work will need to approve/be involved) 4. Have a place to crash other than your home planned in advance for a night or two if necessary.(strongly suggest a trusted old friend's place, perhaps one the fiancé doesn't know too well) 5. Keep your guard up.(always a good idea but especially pertinent if someone might actually be targeting you) Unique to your situation- Ditch the girl ASAP.
-
I have no clue if any of my coworkers at VUMC actually carry against policy/law but it wouldn't surprise me one bit between the number of them I've run into at the range and the death threats we've received from a few patients, I'd actually be surprised if none were.

Difference in Comcast OnDemand and Streampix?
2.ooohhh replied to maroonandwhite's topic in General Chat
IIRC streampix was only movies whereas on-demand also had TV shows. But it's been a while since I looked into it. -
Tennessee Open-Carry Law Torpedoed by Underhanded Tactics?
2.ooohhh replied to Falcon1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I've come to understand it's apparently a standard practice, I just haven't found a good way to track bills through the process and confirm which bills were killed off from possibly legitimate concerns and which were either fabricated or baseless BS such as the open carry legislation. -
Tennessee Open-Carry Law Torpedoed by Underhanded Tactics?
2.ooohhh replied to Falcon1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm in Sargent's district and trying as hard as I can to help get him removed this go around, does anyone have any examples of other specific legislation that this group have killed the same way? While firearms are a key issue for me, they aren't for everyone and I'd love to be able to hand them a list showing a pattern of this behavior from the finance committee. -
While it's supposed to be that no one knows or marks your bag, any baggage handler or airline employee can pretty quickly pickup that hard cases with Non-TSA locks + "guns are in this one". After a friend having his pistol stolen from a suitcase(it was locked in a factory glock box within) on a trip to 'vegas I've changed my luggage up. While pistols have to be in a hard case there is nothing stating that the hard case must be "inside" anything else such as a suitcase. I believe this wording is technically to allow for long gun cases which couldn't fit inside a suitcase if they wanted too but you can use it to make your pistols MUCH harder to seal from your baggage. While a hard sided small case such as comes with most firearms could be slipped out of your bag and under a sweatshirt try that with an 81mm mortar case that's the size of a suitcase! They aren't pretty, but my luggage comes through intact and complete every time!

Got pulled over several months ago
2.ooohhh replied to Ron Padilla's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The traffic offense itself yes, but driving offenses can certainly catch you a bench warrant should you not pay the fine or appear in court if required. Which seems to me could easily make you a fugitive from justice. . . "Shall not be a fugitive from justice;" OP- should be fine assuming he showed up to court/paid the fine/went to traffic school/ect. -
open question for Dolo Might and 300 blk owners
2.ooohhh replied to Ron Padilla's topic in Long Guns
I know several people who liked shooting mine at the range but were turned off by ammo availability and pricing. I load my own and have more than enough converted brass at this point so I guess I just never really noticed. The only 300 blk ammo I have actually purchased in the last year has been around 100 rounds of the Barnes 110grn TAC-TX b/c it got rave reviews and I wanted to try it. -
^this.

Not so sure I could consider an 18 ton blast/gunfire resistant truck that gets even worse fuel mileage than a full on firetruck "just another vehicle".
