Cracker Barrel - No Open Carry
BlackHawk93 replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
No harm Robert. I tried to make my point more clear in my second post. I guess I won't bother creating said letter. I thought it was a good idea. I can always just do it myself though. I appreciate your kindness Robert. -
Cracker Barrel - No Open Carry
BlackHawk93 replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Im not referring to a letter complaining about Open Carry. I apologize for not making that clear. Im referring ONLY to a letter which states that we, as respected HCP holders, will take our business elsewhere when a company posts that guns are not allowed on the premises by HCP permit holders. Once again, I apologize. And youre right. I agree that Cracker Barrel could have posted and made it worse. Im not suggesting we send letters to CB. Just to those businesses with gun buster signs. -
Cracker Barrel - No Open Carry
BlackHawk93 replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I am in the process of drawing up a letter in PDF format where such language as stated above will be included and written in a professional and courteous way, generically, where someone can download it to their computer, fill in the blanks of the store, business, company, etc., and either email it or mail it after looking up the address for said company. I feel that if more of us start to let these companies know how many of us take this seriously, maybe, just maybe, they might look at it. Of course some feel that such a thing is a waste of time and saying anything will not change anyone's mind, but as a group, I feel there is power in numbers. If I can make it as easy as possible to do, and if everyone who cares will take part, I feel it MIGHT do some good. Of course, if many of you feel that this is a waste of time and that doing anything about it will NOT make a difference, I won't bother. But I honestly feel that if as many of us as possible let these people know that we will take our money elsewhere then they might reconsider. -
As several others stated, getting my HCP made me more appreciative of the right to carry and therefore I stopped drinking and started driving the speed limit, etc., just so I don't get myself into any kind of trouble that would jeopardize my ability to carry.

does your carry permit have to be on you at all times
BlackHawk93 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Im glad you pointed that out. I have heard several people saying that you could carry with the receipt from renewing, but it does clearly state that you cant carry with just the receipt if your HCP has expired. Another good reason to make sure and renew as soon as you are able to. Thanks -

BlackHawk93 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I called a few weeks ago and requested a duplicate application because a few times Ive left and forgotten my wallet. Turned right around and got it, not taking a chance. But now since they one guy got his revoked by mistake and then hearing some people are getting theirs taken when renewing, I think Ill just wait. I dont understand why they would confiscate your valid one when applying for a renewal at some stations and not others. Or do they ALWAYS confiscate it on renewal? Seems backwards to take one that is valid and make you use the receipt for your permit. -
It could have been revoked and you not received the letter yet, which, if that is the case, will work in your favor in court if you keep the letter with the envelope and the metered date the letter was delivered. Seems like the LEO could have accessed the revocation date. As far as why, it could be any number of things, but is most likely a mistake if you have not been in any trouble. Maybe it was a typo with any of your numerical information which triggered the revocation.

Citizens Arrest in SC allows "shoot to kill" ?!
BlackHawk93 replied to BlackHawk93's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
While some people post comments here to add their opinion of what the thread covers, others seem to try and make themselves sound superior to the OP's comments or to try and shoot down one's opinions. You obviously had no good intentions of commenting other than to try and make yourself appear superior in your knowledge of all things lawful. It's been proven that these people have very low self esteem. But your comment that "As far as "Police Powers" citizens of the state of TN have "almost" the same powers of arrest that a LEO does, whether the person has a HCP or not." couldn't be farther from the truth. Im sure you will have more negative comments to share, some will no doubt attack me, as your first one tried to do. Or you'll no doubt speak to your superior knowledge of anything and everything. It's a shame that we can't come here to discuss things politely. . -
In browsing other forums and an email from USACarry I saw a thread about South Carolina's Citizen's Arrest law, which apparently states that "you can kill someone at night to stop them from fleeing after you have intiated a citizen's arrest if you have just suspicions of his design to commit some felony." Does this even sound like it makes any sense, in light of OUR HCP laws which clearly state that you can only use deadly force if you feel you or someone else is in fear of death or serious bodily harm? I mean I clearly remember in our class and in forum threads all over the place stating that deadly force cannot be used to defend the theft of property and things of such nature, but according to what these people are saying, you can "shoot to kill" after having made a citizens arrest if you believe someone was about to commit a felony and they try to escape. Correct me if Im wrong, and I know Im speaking of another states laws here, but a carry permit does not give someone police powers in Tn and therefore if you tried this here you would probably be arrested yourself, but not so in SC? Just sounded a little weird to me is all. Curious to what others may think. The thread is here. SC Citizen's Arrest for Simple Assault

Help with 9Mm conversion barrels
BlackHawk93 replied to BlackHawk93's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
yeah, its ONLY for range use. I am more comfortable with the 40 for my EDC and just want to get some range time in a little cheaper. While in the military I was able to shoot almost daily. Just want to keep my skills up. One question I have is I see where they keep saying that the lock up area is tighter than the original barrel to improve shot to shot accuracy. Im wondering if this will eventually lead to my original 40 barrel becoming a little loose in that area. Any ideas? Thanks for all your help and input. -
Help with 9Mm conversion barrels
BlackHawk93 replied to BlackHawk93's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Did you have to change out the ejector? Some list this as a requirement; some don't mention it, but I've found out it's a requirement. Just want to know everything they don't always seem to tell you. Thanks -
Help with 9Mm conversion barrels
BlackHawk93 replied to BlackHawk93's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Thank you very much. I was leaning toward the Lone Wolf barrel but just needed to hear it from someone other than the people who are selling it. Ill give it a try. -
Im looking to purchase one of the conversion barrels to put in my Glock 23 to allow me to shoot 9mm ammo for practice. I have researched this and am wondering if any of you have any recommendations or have heard which of the manufacturers make the best conversion barrel. Lone Wolf, KKM, Storm Lake, or if there are some Ive left out can someone recommend one? I just want to do alot of practice shooting and it's cheaper and easier to find 9mm ammo than to shoot 40. I still practice with 40 but not as often. Just want an option for less expensive ammo.

Exactly what I thought!! I remember him, and a few others who were only concerned about how they could shoot someone and it not be a conviction. They asked more questions along those lines than anyone else asked about the entire class. It's a sad thing that some people get a HCP only to feel like they are going to go right out and find a situation where they can use their weapon. I hope and pray that I NEVER have to use my weapon, EVER. It's no fun taking a human life.

In the class I took, the instructor read through out loud to us after passing out the test the questions on the test and everyone pitched in an answer based on the multiple choice questions he read. So we all pretty much knew what the answer was. Not the way I would have thought someone would have done. But as others have said, if you listen to what the instructor says he will cover everything that needs to be answered on the test. The guy beside me missed like 5 and still passed.

+1 +1 again -
Congratulations on receiving your permit. I remember how excited I was when mine finally came. I hope that you enjoy your right to carry as much as I do.
-
I wasnt referring to the rules for getting a permit. I only said that every place I contacted said you must be 21 to attend the class. Maybe the places I contacted had their own rules. I dont know.
-
You must be 21 to attend, to the best of my knowledge. At least thats what I saw when looking for a class for a friend's son. Maybe some of the other more experienced members here will be able to answer more definitively.

Bank robberies are bound to be declining with the postings they are coming up with now. If a robber gets turned away by not being able to wear a hat or sunglasses, along with already not being able to carry in a gun, they will soon look for other ways to get their money. Shame.

I wonder who will end up in the most trouble over this, the "mental" one or the guy miding his own business? I would say that both will face charges. Not knowing NM's laws I couldnt say but Im sure the victim will probably face some fines and might lose his carry license for awhile, but I'd say that would be about it. He was minding his own business. The other guy will face, I'm sure, assault charges and some kind of impersonating a federal Agent or at the least giving false identification, among other possible charges. Not being there it would be unfair to say, but that would be just a guess. -
Yeah, some people feel real brave behind their computer screen

Having the right to is what this country is founded on. Who says anyone has to give you a reason for their desire to exercise their right to do ANYTHING? Im sorry, but I fought for this country and if I wanted to OC somewhere I certainly dont feel I have to give you a reason for it other than it's my right. I agree with Mike 357

Not anymore. I fly Eurocopters now. EC145's. I flew 60's in the military

The guy who told you that the fingerprints take 30-60 days for the DMV to get them is wrong on a couple things. First, theres plenty of us here that got our HCP's in anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple months. Also, the fingerprints arent sent to the DMV but to the TBI and your local Sheriff's office, so I would not pay any attention to him. i got mine in 4 weeks, and that was with a problem I had to resolve. Its hard to wait when you want something so bad, but it will happen.
