  1. Haha, so true WD! I was talkin' to a feller a while back that must have been 65 years old. He was telling me that he was getting ready to take the hunter safety course even though he's been hunting his whole life. After asking him why, he informed me that he was going on a hunting trip to Colorado and they require it for hunters of all ages. So for all you older-than-required hunters, next time you know of a youngin' in your life that needs the course, why not sign up with them and sit through it? I'm sure they'd enjoy it more with a familiar face in the crowd. You might learn something, and who knows, you might be glad to have it one day when your hunting plans lead elsewhere. Good luck in the dove fields, ExMachina!
  2. Found it. Most of the way down under "TWRA Apprentice Permit Hunter Education Exempt (Type 012) - Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency- Hunter Education
  3. I dunno. This time of year, with deer season around the corner, most classes are purdy near filled up. I believe there is a permit you can buy that allows you one year from exemption from the hunter safety class so long as you're hunting with someone who has attended it and is in a position where they can immediately take control of your weapon if need be. Might wanna check into that on the TWRA website.
  4. Amen! I'm so tired of these morons throwing the $50 ebay HID kits on their cars and hitting the streets. A halogen headlight housing assembly is not made for HID lights and the glare on other drivers is unbearable!
  5. Not necessarily "scouting" but when it comes to bow season, I make sure the Thermacell is ready to go!
  6. I gotta agree with motasyco. It's a lot like looking for a good woman.
  7. Yep, what Rob said.
  8. I agree with David. But, with that said, there are bluegill (bream) in just about every lake in the state. Get some #6 hooks and some crickets or wax worms, some bobbers, and sit back and real 'em in. That is what I do when I take my daughter fishing. At the age of four, her attention span is short, but it keeps her involved as it's not uncommon to catch 12 to 15 an hour.
  9. Wow. Where in the world are you moving? I've tried to find areas without coverage and have only come up with one tiny area on Hwy 51 near Dyersburg. I almost always have better coverage with Cellular South than my buddies with AT&T (mainly thanks to Cellular South using Verizon's towers when there's no Cellsouth towers around).
  10. This.
  11. Nice setup.
  12. Umm, you were supposed to buy a Mosin within the first 24 hours of having the FFL in your possession. I'm pretty sure that's a rule!
  13. My thoughts exactly. I keep my FFL on file with them and do a good bit of browsing on their site, but hadn't actually placed an order from them yet.
  14. I bought a Parker crossbow, too. Figured I'd get it while I had a little extra money. Gotta have something for when my daughter gets old enough to go with me. I got it all setup and stepped out back. Aimed at my little target in the back yard and as soon as I pulled the trigger, I hear a loud "POW!" as I saw fletchings flying up in the air downrange. Seems the scope was off enough at 20 yards that I hit the cord of wood that is my emergency backstop. Needless to say, a carbon bolt hitting solid wood at 335 FPS doesn't end well for the bolt.
  15. Dude, you completely misspelled my username.
  16. Sorry, I missed this post somehow. I got a Bear "Game Over". It's a 2009 model, but it was new-in-box from a dealer. Got it for about half of the original price. I don't mind not having the latest and greatest when it means saving cash.
  17. Got a new bow a couple of weeks ago. Gotta get out and sight it.
  18. Sadly, WD, I fear you're right.
  19. I don't understand why they're leaving so many restrictions on them. Hogs are invasive and destructive and need to be wiped out. Why make it difficult?
  20. I second this suggestion! I really wish I would have done it right after my daughter was born.
  21. That's my sentiment, whiskey. I prefer getting in the woods when it's archery only. Oh well. They could have done much worse things to us.
  22. Great video! Thanks for sharing it!
  23. Welcome. The thread title caught me off guard. I expect to see a title like that on some forums I visit, but wasn't expecting it on TGO! Glad to have you here!
  24. Thanks Daniel.
