  1. Thank goodness! Same here. Saving it for my week of jury duty this coming October...
  2. NO! I am not sure where this myth began, but I hear it all the time. In TN, a commercial vehicle can have tint as dark as they like rear of the front windows, but not personally owned vehicles. The exception to this is vehicles that have factory tinted glass (not dealership-applied film) on the rear windows that conform to FMVSS standards. The easy way to tell if your vehicle has tinted glass is to look at the window itself near the top edge on the inside. If you see a film layer, it's not factory tinted glass. You pretty much only see tinted glass on recent SUVs.
  3. Yeah, but it sure is nice now to be able to tell the judge an exact number. Makes it harder for someone to argue.
  4. I can say that Tennessee's law for personal vehicles is 35%. We used to only be able to stop/check/cite motorists if their vehicles were registered in TN. Last year, they amended TCA and said that we could apply this standard to any vehicle registered in any state unless that vehicle is legal in their home state. Now I carry a quick reference card that shows the tint laws for every state in case I get a wild hair and decide to stop someone from out of state for tint. Tint is one of those things that I rarely enforce anyway. The windows have to look like they're painted black before I usually stop 'em. As far as the enforcement of out of state vehicles in VA, I'm not sure. I would assume that a vehicle from another state and legal in their home state should be able to drive there without issue. If their law is like ours, he can cite you if your vehicle is illegal here, too. Confused?

    Doomsday Clock

    6 minutes 'til midnight.
  6. A steady (not flashing) blue light is a somewhat gray area. Here's a link to an AG opinion that may interest you- http://tennessee.gov/attorneygeneral/op/2004/op/op170.pdf
  7. I'm confused - is this a competition for the most posts or the least??? As always, I suck. I'm trying to keep the lead for least posts, but it ain't working. TGO David, can you change and keep my post count at about "5"? I don't pay attention to the count, but I'm really starting to think Glock23ForMe loses sleep over it at night...
  8. I'm not aware of too many restrictions regarding color temp. The main problem with people installing aftermarket HID systems is those who put them in light housings made for halogen bulbs. These look good to the goofballs putting them in, but it plays hell on other drivers at night because the assembly does not disperse the light correctly. THP is given the authority under TCA to check / cite for headlight adjustment / glare issues, but I'm not sure what exactly it entails.
  9. Trilogy has done me right in the past, but that was dang near a decade ago.
  10. Let us know if he fails to track it successfully after he shoots it...
  11. You should be ok without it if your displayed age (54) is correct. From TWRA's website: I believe there is some sort of exemption for those hunting on their own land, but I don't remember the details.
  12. Who said that??
  13. Fast ain't even the word for it! That's insane!
  14. Is this what y'all are referring to?
  15. Just got back from there.
  16. I've shot several with 12ga slugs. The first one I shot was with 00 buckshot. Before anyone says anything about hunting with illegal equipment (buckshot), it wasn't illegal. All the deer I've shot were being put down after getting hit by motor vehicles. TWRA will let us (LE) shoot 'em with whatever works. I will say, though, that this was before I knew that "buckshot" wasn't legal for "bucks" when hunting. One of my co-workers was explaining that to me later. I thought it was the dumbest thing ever (especially considering how well it worked!) This will be my first year actually hunting. Hoping to take one (or two eventually) with a .300 Win Mag!
  17. The "intent to go armed" is mentioned as an element required to violate 39-17-1309((1) which is a class E felony. However, section ©(1) states This is a class B misdemeanor. I'm no lawyer, but since the frame itself is considered "the firearm" by the ATF, I'm gonna go ahead and suggest you keep looking for another loophole that doesn't exist...
  18. I have! But not lately, as I've refused to buy UMC ammo for a couple of years now. The last time I bought UMC ammo, I experienced about 1 out of every 5 or so that were either loaded way too weak or way too hot. All the other Remington ammo (except Rem 22lr value packs) has been fine. I dunno what's been up with Remington the last few years. :-\
  19. So true!
  20. We sure have a lot of threads that start off as being about one topic and turn to food... Looks like 82% of them to me.
  21. Mmmm. Crepes.
  22. Exactly. I can't recall ever shooting a "clean" round - especially in 22LR!
  23. By the way, this is one of my most embarassing moments - admitting in my previous post that my retarded ass hits the same curb weekly...
