  1. Don't we have enough folks around here who take things too personally?
  2. Yep. There's no avoiding the good ol' trespassing TCA. Can't say I've ever had that happen to me, though, and I'd be quite surprised if it did. Especially on-duty. Most folks ignorant enough and scared enough to post don't mind having us around.
  3. I do that with my squad car sometimes. Amazing when I look in the rearview mirror how far back I can see them trying to get back into the traffic jam.
  4. +1 Or take a look at Mountain View, AR. I go up there once or twice a year and rent a cabin for a few days.
  5. I was gonna be lazy and not look it up, but here it is: (a) Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, any law enforcement officer may carry firearms at all times and in all places within Tennessee, on-duty or off-duty, regardless of the officer's regular duty hours or assignments, except as provided by subsection ©, federal law, lawful orders of court or the written directives of the executive supervisor of the employing agency. ( The authority conferred by this section is expressly intended to and shall supersede restrictions placed upon law enforcement officers' authority to carry firearms by other sections within this part. © The authority conferred by this section shall not extend to a law enforcement officer: (1) Who is not engaged in the actual discharge of official duties as a law enforcement officer and carries a firearm onto school grounds or inside a school building during regular school hours unless the officer immediately informs the principal that the officer will be present on school grounds or inside the school building and in possession of a firearm. If the principal is unavailable, the notice may be given to an appropriate administrative staff person in the principal's office; (2) Who is consuming beer or an alcoholic beverage or who is under the influence of beer, an alcoholic beverage, or a controlled substance; or (3) [Deleted by 2009 amendment.] (4) Who is not engaged in the actual discharge of official duties as a law enforcement officer while attending a judicial proceeding. (d) For purposes of this section, “law enforcement officer” means a person who is a full-time employee of the state in a position authorized by the laws of this state to carry a firearm and to make arrests for violations of some or all of the laws of this state, or a full-time police officer who has been certified by the peace officer standards and training commission, or a vested correctional officer employed by the department of correction.
  6. On duty or off, the posting is null to LEOs. See TCA 39-17-1350. Certified LEOs are permitted to carry anywhere in the state at any time with only 3 restrictions - 1. into a school (unless immediately notifying the principal) 2. while under the influence or 3. into a courtroom when they are not in the performance of official duties.
  7. Man, I'm just really glad you had all the information on the gun. Nothing worse than coming across a thug in possession of a handgun that you know is stolen, but it comes back "not stolen" because the previous owner didn't know their s/n and it was never entered into NCIC.
  8. That blows dude. Sorry to hear it!
  9. I actually got a pre-declined credit card offer in the mail the other day...
  10. Are the guys still giving you crap about your new riding suit? I thought it looked okay...
  11. I had the same problem today at work (Comcast). Had the same problem with my AT&T (Uverse) for a little while when I got home. Must have been a problem with the server of some sort.
  12. I remember it like it was just a few weeks ago. I was working for a local shop installing lightbars, sirens, etc. in emergency vehicles. As usual, I had Drake & Zeke on the radio (back when they were on Rock 103). I remember being somewhat beside myself when they reported on the first plane striking the building. I remember thinking "how in the world did that kind of accident happen?" When they started reporting on the second plane hitting the WTC, I knew what was going on. Part of me was hoping it was some kind of sick joke they were playing. I remember huddling up in the front office with my coworkers trying to get a clear picture of what was happening on an old TV that had probably been in a closet for a decade. I remember the sense of unity and patriotism felt by every American for a while after the attack. It's just a shame that so many people allow that to fade.
  13. It took me almost 48 hours to muster the ability to click on / read this thread after seeing the title. Guess my man card is safe...

    Slow computer

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.
  15. I believe you're right, I don't think any species has gone extinct due to hunting. In the 1800's abusive hunting practices (admittedly, it was mostly commercial) caused whitetail numbers to drop to less than half a million. Now-a-days, with all the wildlife agencies regulating hunting, the whitetail population is well over 20 million. I see what you're saying, and non-commercial hunting may do just fine without any restrictions. But I think that even if they phrased it just like the second amendment, courts would just sooner or later say that reasonable restrictions are ok. The outcome will be the same no matter what wording they use.
  16. That's pretty much what the courts have said about the 2A. It's just not actually written in the 2A. :-\ I think it's more of an issue where the state is trying to put the right wording in there to preempt a challenge from some jackhole trying to declare his right to go shoot every animal he sees if it suits his fancy. Like the wording or not, you can look at history and common sense will tell you that "reasonable regulation" is not evil when it comes to hunting.
  17. No, no, no. That'd be possession of burglary tools (TCA 39-14-701). Many things are not illegal for most folks at most times. It's gonna come down to the circumstances at hand (who, what, when, where, and why) and what the police and DA think.
  18. Careful what you ask for!
  19. Welcome to TGO!
  20. Welcome!
  21. Hell, if that was my number one concern, I'd never step foot in a single gun shop!
  22. So I can expect an explanation tomorrow?
  23. I'm too lazy to go back through this entire thread to look for the answer to my question - What's in this pic?
  24. They're probably afraid your ass can't handle it... literally.
