  1. I like your way of thinking! This is another one of those situations like the mosque at ground zero as well as the ding dong in Florida who was going to burn the Koran; Just because you can do something, it doesn't mean you should...
  2. The edge of the woodline on the fields would be my bet.
  3. I was eyein' that myself at the price it was listed. You're just lucky I ain't got no money! It oughtta do just fine for takin' a deer.
  4. It ain't an iron sight .30-30, is it?
  5. Aggravated assault? I missed something...
  6. I worked two deer vs car collisions last winter alone where the vehicles had those whistle things on 'em. I've started calling them "on-car deer calls".
  7. Congrats Drew!
  8. Went by my parents' house last night and my mom gave me a copy of a picture she took of the boys after she completed the uniforms. Not the best picture quality since she refuses to upgrade from her ancient 35mm camera, but the smiles are still good!
  9. Went as a guest with a buddy to his hunting club out near Galloway. Pretty nice place, but there's no way I'd have the kind of cash necessary to join up.
  10. Well, finally got out there today. Was out in the stand from about 4:30pm until sunset. Didn't see a thing until I got down from the stand. Saw a spike, a doe, and a fawn munchin' on beans as I was making my way back to the truck. Oh well, it beat being at work!
  11. Never thought of it as "nasal douching". I have to agree with the others that is does work. But... she might wanna leave it out of the yard sale...
  12. Will do, Chris, thank you.
  13. +1 to Lester & Mike's comments. You're right, there's not a ton of info on cast .40 loads (not something I realized since I don't reload .40). The Lee manual shows 5.2gr to 5.5gr of Unique for 180gr cast .40 bullets. It's been my experience that Lee's recipes are usually fairly conservative, so 5.4gr should be a safe starting point. I've never tried to chrono and push lead loads for the reasons that others have pointed out. I usually use them just for punching holes in paper and will stick with the lightest load that consistantly performs well (cycles the action & doesn't feel "weak").
  14. As an LEO, I would never publicly say "For the love of God, can we stop wasting all of this freaking money on a so-called 'war' we're not winning against a drug that's not even as bad as alcohol?" You'd have to ask me in private. Google "L.E.A.P." - you'll find that there are tens of thousands of us that are sick of the current situation, ranging from local LEOs to judges, prosecutors, and even some DEA agents.
  15. Welcome to TGO!
  16. I've never tried moly coating, but found this and thought it was interesting. Moly Bullet Coating
  17. I've worked up loads with all sorts of powders for lead and FMJ bullets. So far, all I have noticed is that dirty powders are always dirty and cleaner powders are usually cleaner. Doesn't seem to matter what type of bullet. Just remember that the two bullet styles aren't loaded the same. The lead load is going to use less powder. For example, with my 124gr lead bullets, I'll use 4.8gr of Unique, versus 5.5gr of Unique for the 124gr FMJ's. Oh, and be careful with the lead bullets and stock Glock (polygonal rifled) barrels. According to some, the lead buildup can cause a kaboom. I've personally never seen it, but I decided to err on the side of caution and bought a LoneWolf barrel for shooting my lead loads out of my G19. Google "glock lead bullets" and see the various reports for yourself if you're curious. To me, a barrel that was less than $100 seemed like good insurance.
  18. The precision bullets you're talking about are the coated lead bullets, right? If so, and if they're loaded like the 124gr Berrys plated bullets, I've had success with the following loads: 4.5gr Universal Clays 6.0gr 800x 4.8gr Unique All performed satisfactorily for me loaded with 124gr Berrys plated bullets to a 1.14" OAL, with various brass and primers.
  19. Wow. Just wow. Ummm, yeah. Still not quite enough. Unless you wanna shoot someone carrying a decoy.
  20. Welcome to TGO!
  21. Fiberoptic FTW! I am not a Comcast fan. At all. But I was even less of a dish fan, so I had Comcast for a while. When ATT's Uverse service showed up, I gave it a shot. The picture is 100x better than Comcrap and the internet is 10x better, all at a lower price than cable and with no commitment of any type!
