  1. Mark Barney is a great guy. Not too many politicians I'd put go out of my way to voice my support for, but he is one of 'em. I think the Bartlett Police Association is backing him as well, if I heard correctly. I wasn't at the last BPA meeting, but the candidates were. From what I've heard, Emily Elliott beat around the bush on every question asked.
  2. Yep. Hell, I have knives with nothing more than a thumb stud that'll open just as fast. :-\
  3. Welcome to TGO!
  4. I've used other steel ammo in Glocks with no problem. About the only thing you really need to watch out for is lead ammo, and only then if you are using the stock (polygonal rifled) barrel.
  5. Awesome! I'm happy for you man!
  6. As far as one officer observing a violation and another making the stop or arrest, there is a term for it, but I cannot think of what it's called for the life of me. It's something like "police team doctrine". It's well established in our courts and we'll never have an issue with the legality of it. As far as the citizen complaints, I remember a case or two going through several courts, getting overturned everytime it got to a higher court. I honestly don't remember what the last ruling was, but regardless, I won't make a stop without a violation.
  7. This has been dragged through the courts so many times, I can't even remember what's "official" to be honest. IIRC, the courts have ruled that a complaint form a citizen was enough to detain someone long enough to investigate. It actually happens quite often that a citizen calls in a "possible DUI". My way of dealing with it has always been to observe said driver. If I see any violation, and I mean any violation, I make a stop - I don't care if it's a brake light out, improper display of tags, or failing to signal a lane change. If they check out okay, off they go. If I follow them and find no violation, I don't make a stop (if I follow them a good ways without a violation, they're probably not intoxicated). It's just easier that way when it gets to court. An attorney may argue that I could or couldn't stop a driver based off of a complaint, but there's no arguing a stop made after a violation.

  9. I know this is of no help at all, but the middle picture is the purdiest one, IMO.

  12. Nice!
  13. Indirectly???
  14. Like Dave mentioned here, there are a lot of circumstances that can prevent someone from being eligible to receive a citation in lieu of continued custody. Without knowing the details, I wouldn't want to jump to conclusions, but intoxication is the first one that comes to mind when we're talking about an open container. Different policies for different departments, but most require a supervisor's "approval" of some sort for the arrest. Not to mention that a court clerk or magistrate has to sign the affidavit, and they're not gonna sign off on a bad arrest.
  15. For the Memphis area folks, to the best of my knowledge, all local govs around here have ordinances against any open containers in the vehicle, regardless of who is in possession of it. I can say that for sure about Bartlett, Memphis, and Shelby County.
  16. Wouldn't it be cheaper to get a 5.56 AR and a conversion kit now? Why are you trying to avoid it? I used to have one of those conversion kits and it worked great.
  17. I had the opposite experience. I was about to start saving up until I went as a visitor and met the dingleberry on the golf cart. Decided then and there that I wanted no part in MSSA. But that's a conversation for another time. Jack, I'm gonna try to make it, but no guarantees with as much crap as I have going on right now.
  18. I just shoot my reloads regardless. I have to say that I understand manufacturers not warrantying their items if used with reloads. I mean, why should they have to fix your gun if you eff up your loads? As far as purchased reloads (Tenn. Cartridge Co., etc.), I'd have no issue with it as long as it's a re-manufacturer I trust. As long as the ammo isn't the cause of your woes, I'd say it's highly unlikely the manufacturer of the gun would know whether you shot reloads or not.
  19. Welcome!
  20. Thank you. So where is the best place to find values? I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, but seeing the crappy knife by itself going for over $100 makes me wonder what this set might be worth.
  21. Yep. I always thought it was stupid that you can carry a fixed blade knife, but if the knife blade of a folder gets into the same position quickly with the help of a button, it's illegal.
  22. Wow. I didn't realize it was a set. My FIL was rather crafty with leather, so I assumed he made the sheath. Thanks for the help guys!! Here's the set. He took really good care of it. If you look closely, you can even see on the folder where it's oiled.
  23. This knife came from my FIL's collection. I've googled until I can't see straight and haven't been able to find out a thing about it. I know, obviously, that it's an Imperial brand knife, and I know that it's 9" overall. Anyone know any more about it? Like when these were made, value, etc?
