    Sam's vs Costco

I've always liked Sams compared to Costco. I've had a Sams membership for many years. I only had Costco for one year. I argued for the longest time with one of my wife's friends about which was better. Tired of arguing over it, she and I ended up taking a notebook and a pen to Costco and noting the prices / quantities on multiple different items. We then left and went to Sams. Sams was cheaper on almost everything. The only exception; electronics were a hair cheaper at Costco. The only real upside I saw was that the food selection looked a little bit better at Costco, but not enough to justify a membership. My wife's friend got a Sams membership that day and said she wouldn't be renewing her Costco since it was about to expire.
  2. No doubt. I just figured that if I did, Microsoft would have advised soon enough to file for my payment to be reversed. Not 6 effin months later!
  3. Long story short- Went there as a visitor with my wife's step-dad one evening a few years ago. We were the only ones on the range. I was placing rifles (in their cases) on the bench and the toes of my shoes stepped onto the "cold line" (guess that's what it's called?). Some ****** on a golf cart proceeded to yelling at the top of his lungs about how you're never supposed to cross the line and he was going to throw us out if it happened again, and just kept going on and on and on for a good 20 seconds. The wife's step-dad, who has been a member for many, many years, assured it wasn't a problem as he probably wouldn't be back and he damn sure wasn't going to bring a guest back or ever recommend the club to anyone else after such treatment. Was I supposed to step on the line? Probably not. Were there at least half a dozen better ways he could have handled the situation, especially given the fact that there weren't even firearms removed from their cases on the range and I never actually "crossed" the line? Absolutely. Will I be giving them my hard earned money just to go out there and deal with that kind of douchebaggery? Absolutely not!
  4. I bought a laptop a couple of years ago that had Vista preinstalled. I tried for well over a year to like it, but it just wasn't gonna happen. When Windows 7 came out, I decided to try it. I bought a license for it from a well-established eBayer for less than it was selling for retail. Got it installed, the key worked fine, everything was ok for 6 months or so. Now my wife, who uses the laptop much more than I do, is telling me that these annoying little windows pop up telling her that the copy of Windows isn't genuine and there is some text on the bottom right side of the wallpaper saying the same at all times. The well-established, good feedback-having eBayer is gone - no longer a registered user. What should I do? What can I do? Win 7 is "OK", but I sure as hell ain't paying for it twice.
  5. I was loking at that on the S&W website the other day. It's $50 for the research now. Didn't it used to be much less? I could have sworn that not long ago it was only $20 or $25.

    Reserve Deputy

Yep. Memphis, Shelby County, and Bartlett require the full 500+ hours of academy that the full-timers attend. Germantown, Millington, and some others require training of somewhere around 200 hours. Other smaller departments only subject you to the minimum required by the P.O.S.T. commission for reserve officers (which I believe is 80 hours now - used to be 40). Just call and ask to speak with the reserve coordinator. As far as equipment, that varies as well. I got my start in a smaller town as a reserve and had to buy all of my own stuff. The reserves that are on my current department get all of their stuff issued to them. Good luck!
  7. Had that happen to me once after I built my first AR. I was too scared to put my a$$ into the hammer, so I took it to my department's armorer. He proceeded to slam the living crap outta the butt on the concrete floor while pulling on the charging handle (causing the spent Wolf round to pop out), and gave me a good tongue lashing for "running the AR too dry". He said to "run it sloppy wet with CLP and it'll do just fine". So far he's been right. The ammo wasn't the problem... I was.
  8. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - Hunter Ed Class Schedule Here's a link to the hunter ed class schedules. Many might already be full due to the time of year it is right now.
  9. In soviet Russia, TV watch YOU!!
  10. That's INSANE! I wouldn't pay over $8 for the 9mm or $12 for the .45 in Blazer aluminum.
  11. Welcome!
  12. Yep, it's an OC/CS combination spray. Freeze +P
  13. WHERE?
  14. YES! After my first AR build, I bought about 20 of them to keep on hand. Of course, since I did, I haven't lost another one yet.
  15. Having shot both at work, I think the full auto RRA 10.5" AR was the most fun. But the MP5 is a close second. Now if I could get them to issue one to me. The 870 is lonely at night...
  16. I dunno. Was kinda wondering that myself. BTW, Larry Copeland seems like the best, by far, for Judge. Just my opinion, but I've seen him sit in Division I when Judge Marr was out, and he's a top notch dude. Impressive resume as well.
  17. I only google my wife, thank you very much...
  18. Welcome neighbor!
  19. I've actually got a couple of 'em in the back of the safe. One belonged to my father's mother and the other belonged to my mother's mother. They never knew each other but both had the same model gun to slip in their purse if they needed to...
  20. As far as pistols, I think the smoothest I've ever possessed (I say "possessed" because it was an LE gun issued to me, I didn't own it) was the Memphis PD standard P229R DAK I had when I worked for U of M PD. Man that thing was smooth. My current department issued me a P226 in .357Sig and it is awful. Well, maybe it's me, not the gun, but I really dislike almost everything about it, especially the action.
  21. I got the impression from the OP that he was talking about the regular Blazer aluminum. I hope he wasn't paying that much, though...
  22. Welcome to TGO!
  23. Same here. Unfortunately, it never works. I still end up with a bunch of crap I don't want or like. Now, if someone in my family knew guns, and knew what I liked, I might care to receive a present or two.
  24. It worked fine for me. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgwF8mdQwlw
