  1. Exactly. There's no law requiring you to provide a defense to TCA 39-17-1302. If you refused to ever show your form to anyone other than an ATF agent and were locked up by local LE for violating 39-17-1302, you'd probably end up getting a conviction for a state felony as well as never seeing your weapon again. It'd be so much easier just to show the local LEO your form in the first place...
  2. I'm not familiar with the store you're referring to, but I've seen many gun shops with a sign like this for people bringing in guns that they plan to handle (need service, want to trade, etc.). Couldn't imagine that they wouldn't want you packin'. Hopefully they'll chime in and clarify.
  3. truthsayer, I sent you a PM, but it kept timing out. Lemme know if you don't get it...
  4. I saw that the SXZ stuff is gonna be on sale. Can't say how much - wife threw the ad away and I'm too lazy to pull the ad up on their website, but the price didn't exactly jump out at me.
  5. Are there bad ones?
  6. One of the best movies. Ever.
  7. On the flip side of that, I see tons of commercials screaming "WE BUY YOUR SCRAP GOLD FOR TOP DOLLAR!!" at me. It's all just businesses being businesses. Not many businesses plan for a meltdown of our country. I don't think precious metals are the most important thing to be stockpiling by a long shot. But if you have the time and funds to stash some away, it wouldn't be the worst idea in the world.
  8. Given the amount of money blown, um, I mean spent, by the government for the census, I can't say that $15+ per hour would surprise me. But, with the little bit of knowledge I do have of the way the federal pay scales work, it seems a stretch.
  9. I thought that sounded awfully generous.
  10. I figured it went in a closed fist, but still wasn't sure how well it'd stay there when striking. Neat video, though. Are both sides of the blade sharp or is it a false edge on one side?
  11. Probably enough to keep most people from attempting anything stupid... when you're home. It sure sucks to be out on the town and come home to a ransacked house and no more guns... Would it ever advertise anything? Maybe. Maybe not. Who knows? I just know that I like a low profile regardless.
  12. You have got to be kidding me!!! Those poor girls played so hard and did all that fundraising for some dumb*ss with an agenda to take it away. Shame.
  13. Thanks for the replies, guys. I've looked at the urban pal and the TDI. The urban pal doesn't look like I'd be able to keep a good hold on it (I'm probably wrong, but that's just my impression without having played with one). The TDI could work. It's a funny looking knife, but may have a place on me...
  14. How long does a tank of propane last in those things?
  15. ...
  16. Yep. You can snag silver bullion for a buck or so over spot price shipped on eBay as well as from some retailers. Usually, your local coin shop will have some in stock (in my experience, the ones around here charge spot price and nothing more). I had quite a bit of silver bullion stockpiled a while back, but when money got tight, I sold most of it off.
  17. Yay! May it provide you with decades of worry-free transportation!
  18. If you are considering the use of precious metals for bartering, I'd consider getting silver. It's easier to barter with. I'd hate to have to trade a one ounce bar of gold for something small that I really needed. And I would make sure that you actually possess the metals, not one of those deals where they issue a certificate stating that you own so much of whatever. Of course, I'd start collecting my precious metals after I had completed my stockpile of food and ammo.
  19. Hate to tell you, but you and I need more than a sticky note to fit in...
  20. Your logo can be seen here:
  21. As far as the lawn care thing, pick up a cheap used mower and weed eater to get started. I was talking to a guy the other day who started doing lawns for extra money after he retired. For a regular middle class yard, he charges $20. He's much cheaper than the $40 to $50 competition, so he has business out the wazoo. You figure, it takes about an hour, maybe an hour and a half to do a yard. That means you can make up to $20 an hour CASH. After you spend a little $$ on gas, you're still not doing too bad.

  23. How much will you pay us to take one?
  24. Considering the fact that DaddyO said "Just the fact that a DUI stays with you the rest of your life is enough to keep me from drinking and driving" implies (to me anyway) that he meant that having a DUI follow you around your entire life is bad enough to prevent him from doing it, not to mention the other possible outcomes that are much worse. I don't think for a minute that he meant that getting a charge is the only reason he wouldn't do it. Or maybe I'm reasong too much into your response, friesepferd. Hope so.
  25. TCA 39-17-1302 lists prohibited weapons (which includes NFA items). The defense provided for those with an approved form is- The gray area, IMHO, is defining "retain". Does this mean that you must retain the form in your actual possession when you possess the NFA item? Does it mean you can retain it in your safe at home while you're at the range with the gun? I'd rather play it safe and keep a copy with me. You can get a copy made for a few pennies at Kinkos and it's definitely worth the peace of mind to me. There may be a federal law that addresses the issue more specifically, but I'm not that well versed with federal law on NFA items.
