  1. I'm thinking about picking up one of these for long distance shooting; 450 - 500m. Does anyone have any experience with this particular rifle? Also, recommendations for scope. I was considering the Nikon Bushmaster 4.5-14x40, or the 6-18x40, but advice from a dealer did not recommend the Nikons. The only reason I'd considered the Nikons is because I'm familiar with the optics they use in camera lenses. I'd like to stick with a variable power with at least a x14, limit the objective to around 40-44mm, to avoid high mounts, and have a 30mm tube. Thanks!
  2. I just left Bill a voice mail, regarding a trigger job on an S&W Sigma 9mm. Has anyone had Bill do this type of work on a Sigma?
  3. Don't forget the wife-beater t-shirt
  4. They're essentially the same round. 5.56mm is the NATO designation, and .223 caliber is the for us that don't use the metric system.
  5. In recognition of the recent signing of the health care reform into law, McDonalds has introduced a new value meal, called the "Obama Value Meal". You order whatever you want, as much as you want, and the guy in line behind you pays for it.
  6. Make mine a good single malt scotch, s'il vous plaît. Glenfiddich comes to mind Before that, it was Wild Turkey.
  7. SuhWEET, thanks m8!
  8. I've heard some folks squawk about the "squeeze cocker", but I rather liked it and got accustomed to it very quickly. It certainly beat the out of having to futz and fumble around with a safety.
  9. Thanks for the contact info m8!
  10. That H&K P7 is an outstanding firearm. I carried one for several years when I lived in Knoxville. Incredibly accurate and very reliable. I purchased mine from a chap that lived in the Fountain City area that has/had an FFL. IIRC, I paid about $635 for it. That was one of the firearms I sold shortly after I got married. I'm pretty certain H&K has discontinued it, which explains why they're so hard to find nowadays. When you do find one, it's very pricey. I saw one for sale at a store in Knoxville a few months ago. It was on consignment and the owner was asking $1400 for it... ouch!
  11. Welcome to TGO... stay frosty, my friend. I just purchased a S&W Sigma 9mm myself. Itchin' to put a few rounds through it. Still waiting for the $50 rebate, with which I'll pick up a good IWB holster.
  12. Thanks! How do I get in touch with this chap?
  13. Thanks! I moved here from Knoxville about 3-years ago. What, or where, is Viola?
  14. I fed it, along with the "coming soon" letter, to the shredder last week. I'm not drinking the
  15. My name is Patrick. I've been around guns for several years, with about a 12-year hiatus. The missus is from the Middle East and had "a thing about guns in the house". Regrettably, I caved-in shortly after we got married and sold off everything I recently purchased a S&W Sigma 9mm and will be pursuing a CCW shortly.
  16. Welcome, m8. I'm just up the road from you, in Rockvale.
  17. Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong forum, but couldn't find one more appropriate. I know there's an indoor range in the 'Boro, but the $20 range fee is a bit steep. Does anyone know of a safe, outdoor place in Rutherford county to pop off a few rounds? I'm itchin' to pop the cherry on a new S&W Sigma 9mm.
  18. Most of the Galco holsters I've seen have a nylon/plastic belt clip... and yes, I'm obviously talking about IWB holsters. In the past I've carried an S&W Model 39 and an H&K P7, both in Bianchi holsters, both with spring steel belt clips. There's something about plastic, albeit nylon, that I just don't trust. I recently purchased a S&W Sigma 9mm and am looking for a Bianchi holster for it, but not having much luck finding one. I really like the looks of the Bianchi Model 100 Professional but they don't seem to make that model to fit the Sigma. According to what Mike.357 has posted, perhaps the Bianchi for the Glock 21 will fit the Sigma? As popular as the Glock 21 is, I'm sure Bianchi makes an IWB holster that will fit it, and perhaps the Sigma. I just checked their site and it appears that they don't ... bollocks!
