  1. I'd keep an AR or AK if I had it. Nuthin' like 30 rds on tap. Get good insurance and don't worry about theft. You'll spend less on a rider for a few grand of guns than you will spend on a couple boxes of amm for those guns!
  2. If you don't mind going a little further east (into NC) my wife and I spent our honeymoon here: http://www.rockcreekcabins.com/ravencove.htm That's the actual unit we had for 10 days (it was AWESOME!!) and it was under $900 with taxes, etc. You can't see another human or building from each unit, and we had to go about half a mile off pavement to get to ours. (Glad we didn't take my Lincoln!) Most units have hot tubs and you've got satellite TV, a DVD player, and a charcoal grill. It's about 5 minutes outside of Bryson City, NC which was a cool little town with a really good pizza joint and an OK "upscale" Italian place. The people were really nice, and we were there for the 4th of July festivities which was a lot of fun! You'll be about 15-20 mins from Cherokee if you feel like gambling, 40 mins from Maggie Valley, and a little over an hour from the Biltmore. The Biltmore really is an amazing place. I didn't really care about going at first... it was more about the wifey to start with, but I really enjoyed it! They have some AMAZING gardens! Wherever you go, I hope you get some refreshing time away from the world for awhile!
  3. Awesome! I love a little out back bang-flashing! Wait... what?! This reminds me of that bit in Gran Torino where Clint Eastwood teches the kid how to talk like a man at the Barber Shop. "My ass still hurts from the guys at the shop!"
  4. I know, I should just shut up, but it's too much fun! Oh, and Naked Dave, I was totally gunna rag on you with the "negiligent discharge" line and little boys, but I decided better of it.
  5. Dang dude!
  6. C'mon Naked Dave, you know you like a nice ride with Sweet Baby James in the LS (Lovin' Sport) to get the day started!
  7. Hey, be specific... I'll only touch your peepee David!
  8. Awesome! Those look like great groups for your first loads in a gun that hasn't been tweaked the way you like! Congrats! I don't load for rifles, so I'm going to refrain from comment on the primers. Hopefully someone with more experience here will chime in soon.
  9. Nice group of pistolas!
  10. 66% yes to all three as of now.
  11. The Smith & Wesson forum! They've got some real character over there!
  12. Hey Guys and Gals, I found this awhile ago while surfing another forum: http://manbabies.com/popular I don't even really know what to say... just weird!
  13. Wow, that looks like some mighty fine stuff for 9mm! I haven't used BB in any autos, but I have used some of their stuff in my wheelies, and I like it just fine.
  14. Yea, you mean they haven't come out with a Bobcat in .17 yet?!
  15. I buy locally from the Reloader's Bench in Mt Juliet, TN. Check out Jessie at http://www.tennesseevalleybullets.com/ a little east of Jackson. He's one of the good guys.
  16. Welcome! Yea, even with all the crap going on right now, this is still a wonderful place to live! Good to have you on the board, and maybe see you at the range some day.
  17. "Rep. Kenneth Dunkin's bill seeks to amend the state's Firearm Owners Identification Card Act to provides that any person who owns a firearm in the state maintain a $1 million or higher policy of liability insurance "specifically covering any damages resulting from negligent or willful acts involving the use of such firearm while it is owned by such person." Wow, that's nuts. The "willful" acts part is crazy. Insurance doesn't usually cover "willful acts." HexHead has it right, no insurance company is going to accept "willful acts" for a covered risk! If it can be proven that you willfully drove your car into somebody to hurt/kill them, it's not covered. (First off, that's illegal, so you would be in the act of committing a crime, which negates any insurance coverage anyway.) There's no freaking way any of the major companies would decide to cover someone willfully shooting another person. However, there's always some company out there willing to give it a shot, and as said earlier, they'll probably charge out the whazoo for it.
  18. Just curious JimmyJoe, is your insurance with Farmers Insurance Group, or Farm Bureau? There is a difference and many folks get them confused. Under Farmers Insurance Group's old form of homeowner's policy the standard limit was $1,000. Under the "Next Generation" HO policy the standard limit is $3,500 and the maximum allowed without special underwriting is $250,000. Someone else mentioned specific items over $2,500. That is correct, each company may have a different specified amount, but once an item is valued over that amount, it must be specifically named. It is highly recommended to have an appraisal by an outside party on your gun collection done, then insure that amount and maybe a little extra for inflation purposes.
  19. Most standard homeowner's policies cover somewhere between $1,000 - $2,500 worth of firearms due to loss or theft from the home. (ie: NOT theft or damage which happens away from your home) Our standard limit is $3,500. Most companies all sell riders (or floaters, or any one of a half a dozen other terms) that will cover your firearms up the amount you specify, and with possibly (generally) broader coverages. The cost is usually insignificant for smaller collections. Unfortunately, insurance questions aren't one size fits all. Kinda' liking asking "how fast is a car?" well... it depends... make, model, condition, the current weather, terrain, etc. If you have questions, call your agent. If the hem-haw around or say something negative about your guns, move your insurance. If they say "we should go shooting some time!" you've got an agent and friend for life!
  20. I believe all the lee handgun caliber deluxe die sets are carbide. No lube needed, unless maybe a bottlenecked case is being loaded.
  21. Did anybody else notice that the Captain's name was Steve McCool? I find that hilarious!
  22. I actually watched that live this morning. Freakin' awesome.
  23. Hey Guys and Gals, I don't really want to step into this welfare debate, but I've been refreshed to hear that so many folks believe it is the church's responsibility to help these folks. I agree. Unfortunately, we don't have as many folks going to church and doing the helping any more. I'd like to provide all of you in the Middle Tennessee area to an awesome ministry. It's called "Mattew's House" and it's held at Trinity Church of the Nazarene at 1253 Vultee Boulevard, Nashville, TN 37217. We are entering out 5th year of service this month, and Matthew's House is held the third Saturday of every month. Our first event on Feb 21st, 2004 brought 18 people needing help. Our last Saturday in January brought over 140 people. We have representatives from the Metro Housing Authority, people to help with job placement, and students from both Vanderbilt and Meharry, as well the Shadetree Clinic that all come to provide free assistance to anyone who needs help. Our church provides clothing for men, women, and children, as well as a hot meal that day. We are there for encouragement and support. We do not preach or try to cram any message down anyone's throat. We simply love through support. We desperately need clothes of all types (except undergarments, unless they are new and sealed) especially men's clothing as we have recently started offering help to the men of Project Return, an organization that helps men returning from prison re-adjust to working and living outside of jail. They come every Wednesday afternoon and we are having a hard time keeping up with all of their needs. We (and me especially) would love any support you can give. I would be happy to pick up clothing donations, and am willing to drive within a 30 minute radius of Smyrna to do so. We just ask that the clothes be in good condition and clean. I invite you to come this Saturday from 11am to 3pm to see what it's all about. I'll be there and would love to see you. (I've grown a short beard since my goofy pic on the left!) If you'd like more information, please PM me for my cell number. Take care! *Edit* Just wanted to add our "mission statement" for Matthew's House: Matthew 25:35-40 (New International Version) 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' 37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' 40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
  24. I don't think reloads are necessarily the problem, but CARELESS reloads can be.
