  1. They'd probably like that, actually!
  2. http://nashville.ismyhome.com/ You Are Now Living In the Manliest City Friday Mar 6, 2009 Author: Allison, Category: News So, umm, did you get the memo that you are now living in America’s Manliest City? Yeah, me neither. Apparently how many hardware stores and sports leagues are in your town, defines your manliness. Hrmm, maybe they should have gone on sheer brute power, I’m sure we could have rustled up some strong arms… In a study by Sperling’s BestPlaces, Nashville was named America’s Manliest City based on high number of NASCAR fans, abundance of barbecue restaurants and the popular interest of hunting and fishing. Hilariously, New York City finished dead last on the list while Charlotte, N.C came in second with Oklahoma City in third.
  3. First, if you're really interested in C&R guns, get your C&R license! See http://members.cox.net/cruffler/ffl.html You'll most likely save more than your application fee on your first purchase with it, and no background checks! Next, I don't really know of any store that has a good selection of C&R handguns, but the Outpost in Christiana had a good supply of Mosins of all flavors, K31s, and a few other long guns, and pricing was waaaayyyyyy better than those stupid pawn shops that have 91/30s tagged at $349.95 (no, not snipers, either!) Have fun!
  4. I'd be a little cautious throwing around the idea that Stingers are flying out of your barrel at 1640FPS. I'm not sure, but that may be velocity from a rifle, and even if it's from a pistol, I doubt they used a 2" snub. Also, many manufacturers are optimistic with their listings as well. Not to pee in your cheerios, but just FYI.
  5. Eh... it's OK. I'd prefer "Rod" or "Peter"!
  6. Hey, just make you have a vent so I can get some fresh air, OK?! You guys forgot that last time and I nearly suffocated .... jerks!
  7. David, I think you need an alter-ego account named "Naked Dave" so you can log on and post all the pro-Obama sentiment you have hiding deep inside, but still keep face with the "TGO David" so we all don't think you've lost your mind! Then you could spend all day arguing with yourself. With that be the first reported case of electronic schizophrenia?
  8. Everytime I try some fancy earmuff or electronic muff system, I just find myself wanting to go back to good old foam plugs. Easy, cheap, and they don't mess up my sexy hair! (Plus my ears don't get all sweaty and they don't get in the way when I'm shooting rifles!)
  9. Always a crowd favorite!
  10. Fo Shizzle! Dude that's awesome! Get you some 45 AR (autorim) brass so you don't have to bother with moonclips. There's a whole school of guys who load up their 45's extra hot, as revolver cylinders are generally stronger than auto chambers, and you don't have to worry about recoil spring rates and battering the frame so bad. Go to www.smith-wessonforum.com and go to the reloading section, then do some searching for "45 AR" etc, and you'll find a wealth of info! Maybe I'll try and stop by some day. I really want to work with a Dillon a little and see how it all goes.
  11. Wow, scary stuff, CK1! Thanks for sharing that!
  12. I vote SP101, even though I am a die hard Smith & Wesson fan. I think the extra weight and heft of the SP101 is a good thing, especially for someone who may be recoil sensistive. Hey, check out the SP101 in .327 Federal! I haven't shot one yet, but it holds 6 rounds and you can shoot any of the .32 cal revolver stuff in it. Pretty awesome little piece IMHO!
  13. Smokin' deal Johnny! That's a gorgeous gun. Now do you reload for .45? You can work up some substantial loads for those wheelies that you can't put in an auto.
  14. I'm with DaveTN. A precision rifle subject to massive forces should not be made with tolerances that far out of spec. I think the folks at Bushmaster should be expecting a call from you soon.
  15. I had ONE box of the Wolf .40 and made it through about 20 rounds of it. It locked my dang gun up so tight I needed a cleaning rod to shove down the barrel, and then banged the gun on a bench to get the casings out. Out of those twenty rounds, I stopped shooting on the 4th lock-up. My gun was freshly cleaned and it was a pretty new gun at that point, too. I also had the same experience with Wolf .223 in my old AR. I'm just done with the steel cased stuff. I love the Wolf 12g 00 buck, but won't shoot any of the other stuff any more. (BTW, I've NEVER has any other case, on any other gun, get stuck in a chamber... just the two times I used wolf, in two different guns) My $.02
  16. The 91/30s aren't awful to shoot, and like TC said, there are definitely ways of shooting that reduce felt recoil. I have an M44 and usually go through 60-80 rounds at a time when shooting it, mostly because I have a limited supply and won't bring but that much with me. I'd probably go through 200 or more if I would let myself bring that many to the range! Something about that nice big boom and watching the impact of those bullets on bowling pins and golf balls is SSOOOOO satisfying! I have both heavy and light ball, and to be honest, I don't even pay attention to what's in the gun most of the time.
  17. Any particular reason you are wanting to steer her to a semi-auto? I still just don't believe that, other than round count, an auto provides any other advantages, but they come with a host of other issues. Magazines to worry about, safeties (if not a striker type) and other switches like slide stops and takedown levers to get confused with. The revolver has a trigger, hammer, and slide release to worry about. (and not even the hammer if you get a humpback job) If round count is an issue, I'd say to just get her two K frames! I like the K frame for its blend of compact size, but enough grip and weight to make it comfotable enough to shoot. She also already has shown a preference with a .38 snub, and I'm guessing would probably be familiar with it from the start. I dunno... that's just my $.02, but I'm old-school I guess, even though I'm pretty young!
  18. I just called and told him that a little while ago!
  19. It's the "jacked up tea-cup" taught exclusively by Buford C. Tune, sure to make a man out of any woman! BTW, looks like she has a nice 4" S&W model 19 there, or something similar. It could probably take that stupid look off his face real fast if she'd just apply it properly.
  20. Wow. That was awesome, but sad in a political kind of way.
  21. Freakin' awesome!!
  22. Do you mean factory loads, or for reloading? For factory loads Federal has some great stuff in their hunting line called "fusion" I believe, in 357 Mag. Buffalo Bore and DoubleTap are other "boutique" mfgrs that make some cool stuff, too. For reloading... dang... there's so much out there! A lot of folks like Hornady XTPs for penetration in hunting, but many report iffy expansion (read, not what most people want in defense ammo) Barnes makes awesome hunting bullets too, and I think they have some in .357. Most of the old dudes that have been shooting stuff for three time longer than I've been alive still seem to just like a good SWC slug of heavier weights moving at strong velocities. You could spend the rest of your life trying to find the "perfect bullet." I'd spend a little time finding something that you like, and then the rest of that time practicing with it. Have fun!
  23. Will you have loan officers on hand to help with the second mortgage we'll need to take out when we find all the deals at your place? Or is Obama gunna be there himself handing out stimulus checks? (Wouldn't that be a sight!)
  24. How true! I could feel the heat emanating from his manly physique all the way down where I was sitting.... I even had to take off my sweater and fan myself. Darn that Dreamy Eddie!
  25. Yea, but then I looked over and saw you had a boner and this smile of complete and utter satisfaction on your face... THAT freaked me out!
