Yea, the leverevolution is a good bullet design, but moreso for hunting rather than SD, I believe. It's made with that polymer tip so it's safe for loading in the tubular magazines of a levergun, and to provide a much better ballistic coefficient to reduce drag and therefore carry more velocity longer, leading to a flatter trajectory. While they may look cool in a cylinder, what with red tips pointing out and all, I'd much rather stick with a good standard HP design.

What if you're young and gassy? Are you a whipper fart? -
Welcome! Hey, are you into saltwater aquariums/reffing? (Judging by your avatar, I'd say yes!) If so, check out : http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=286 That's the Middle Tennessee Reef Club section of reefcentral.com, an aweseom resource for the saltwater hobbyist. There's also an ETRC (East Tennessee Reef Club) on the site. You'll probably want to join up with those guys. See ya 'round!

So you're saying it's OK for you to carry, but not for me? -
Eh... scorpions are cool. They're all over south Florida (where I grew up) especially in the Keys. Hold them down with a double-gloved hand and snap the stinger off with a knife blade and you've got a harmless, fun, creep-crawly pet for a little while. However, they're not fun to find while you're crawling under a house in the dark. Ugh. That's part of the reason I decided not to move houses for a living. I freakin' hate crawling around on my belly in the dark! (Keep the comments to yourselves!)

I'd dig a "tall" version. Yes, I am prone to plumber's butt. (sorry if you're a plumber!) -
I'm not so much a fan of the PMC stuff in general. I toss their brass when I'm sorting. Happy shootin'!

W231/HP38 should work well there. (I'm having a great time using 231 in light 180gr 44 mag loads right now!) If that powder that was close to AA#2 (was it WC820?) was good enough, just get some AA#2. AA#5 would also do well. Bullseye too. I don't really like titegroup for lead loads. It's too darn hot. Of course, you'll also have the die-hard Unique fans out there, and I'm slowly coming around to it in 44mag, but I don't think I'd bother with this load.

Hm... some guns just don't like some ammo. Those softpoints you shot first were jacketed, right? If they were lead I'd look into the possibility that maybe they leaded up the bore and led to decreased accuracy. Also, what did the patterns look like? If they were vertical in nature that can sometimes mean an erratic powder charge weight leading to extreme spreads in velocity which would result in high and low points of impact. (I know, not likely with good factory ammo, but I'm jus posturing here) Of course, the fact that they were fine in your SP101 has me thinking that your 586 and that ammo just don't get along well.

I think the $399 at Academy may be the Sigma.

Wow, I don't even really see many answers that I would choose for these questions. It's mostly still very left leaning, even in the contradictory replys.

Now THAT'S a good reason to cry! We'll let that one slide!

OK, the run down is that you can always DOWNGRADE .32 revolver ammo from what is labeled on the gun/frame. IE: a .327 Mag will shoot .327 Mag, .32 Mag, .32 Long, and .32 short. a .32 Mag will shoot .32 mag, .32 long, and .32 short. a .32 Long will shoot .32 long and .32 short. a .32 short will only shoot .32 short. You CANNOT go UP from what the gun is chambered for. Also, DO NOT try to make rounds for a semi-auto work in a revolver, or vice versa. (The exception is the S&W M52 and its copies, which are semi-autos made expressly for shooting .38 special wadcutter target loads.) I hope that clears some things up.

Beautiful gun! I hope you can find some reasonably priced ammo for it!

Yes, I meant the ammo!! Keep that treasure of a gun... and post up some pics for us to see!

post it up in the classifieds. I sold off my .32 and .25 the next day when I listed it! Good luck!

I don't really know how to read that chart you just posted, but I would advise again shooting .32 ACP in your .32 Long. It's just not a good idea to shoot something designed for another firearm completely in that nice Smith. Going from .32 long to short is like going from .357 mag to .38 special. That's fine. You are chaging calibers completely going from Long to ACP. That would be like going from .38 special to 9mm. There are a few guns designed to do this (as 9mm runs at about twice the pressure of the .38 special) but otherwise it should not be done. Also, you are going from a rimmed design to a rimless, so you'll have problems chambering. Sure, you're going to find folks that say "fire away," but they are nuts, IMHO. Finally, pressure. .32 S&W Long 15,000 psi SAAMI max, .32 ACP 20,500 psi SAAMI max. Don't do it!

Sounds cool! Best of luck in your endeavors!

Gee David... first you're into leather, then Kydex... you're getting pretty kinky, dude.

I chose the second option, though my job isn't really on the "chopping block" as I'm self employed. Business was tough at the end of '08 but things have picked up so far in '09. However, I seem to have to work much harder to be able to do the same amount of business as I did in Q1 '08. I'm re-adjusting how I go about some things, as well as shifting focus on what type of business I'm going after. I'm seeking more solid commercial business now, instead of purely home and auto insurance. Unfortunately, a number of smaller business I insured have had to close their doors in the last 6 months. It's been very hard to see my friends (most of my clients become good friends of mine) shutter their life's work. I have one friend who took out $600,000 in loans for his business three years ago. Early last year he tried to refinance but couldn't get it done, and now he has had to close down 2 of his 3 business locations, and I don't know how long the third will last. I hurt for him. He's a good guy who was a little too ambitious at a bad time. I am also seeing a crazy amount of people starting their own business due to being laid off. I can't count how many people have come by soliciting me for their new office cleaning business. I admire these folks for their effort and initiative, but how many cleaners can one area have? It's not a fun time right now. However, I know that if I can grow my business in these conditions, I should be poised for greater success when things (eventually) turn around.

Eh... I just saw the gun... it's a piece of crap! Just kidding! I actually liked it a lot! For the first time, a Glock felt right in my hand. The gun pointed as easily as me pointing my finger. I can finally add a Glock to the list of guns I like. I handled the 21 back to back with David's 19, and I still don't dig the 19 too much, but the 21 was really nice. Congrats David!

Ditto, can you show us where you've found some +P .40 ammo?
