  1. If you're ever in the Smyrna area I'd love to take that .357 brass off your hands. I think I may have a handful of.40 and 9mm lying around for you, too, unless I already gave it away and forgot about it.
  2. Hey everybody, just wanted to let you know that uncle Dave is now back at home, and uninjured! He was in a 4 story clinic that was actually modern and built well enough that it sustained no damage during the quakes! He and the local pastor he was with had JUST purchased the meds when the quake hit. They were able to immediately go to work tending the injured. Gee, and they say God doesn't work miracles any more! Again, thanks for all your prayers!

    Prayers

My uncle benefitted from the prayers of this forum's members this week, and I hope your son receives a similar blessing.
  4. Awesome news guys! He's alive! That's all I know right now, I'll give you more details as I get them. Thanks for your prayers, and thank you Lord!
  5. Hey guys. Still no contact or news about my uncle. My head/logic says he is dead, but I hope and am still praying that he is alive. It would be great if he is alive and well, and helping the injured. He was/is a great doctor/surgeon.
  6. Thanks guys. I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything.
  7. Hey guys. You've heard about the quakes in Haiti by now. I need your prayers also for mu uncle David. He just got to Haiti this morning to prepare for a medical mission. He was in Port au Prince procuring prescription drugs before the rest of the team to arrive. David is a retired ER surgeon but has serious heart conditions (has had at least 5 heart attacks and been dead twice) so all of this commotion and stress could easily kill him, regardless of the possibility of being crushed or trapped. He also had thousands of dollars in cash on him to buy the drugs which can be a great thing, or a great reason for the looters to kill him. There have been reports on the news of folks with a catholic mission, but my uncle was with a different group, and we have not heard from him or any of his group. I really appreciate your prayers for him. Thanks.
  8. Thanks for all the replies guys. I would have responded more, but... I still have no service! Yea, I did all the resets, went direct w/o the router, pinged fine, reset the IPs, and a few other things but still had no luck. They are sending out a tech tomorrow to check it out. I appreciate all the advice! I'm pretty sure it's not on my end as going direct with all my equipment didn't correct the problem. I love my BlackBerry, but NOT as my primary internet device!
  9. I'm not connecting with three computers at my house (2 laptops and an iPod touch) on either my wireless network or the two unsecured networks in my neighborhood. I've reset my router a few times, but no dice. I'm only able to go online via my blackberry right now. Anybody else?
  10. I'm not going to go into detail because it's not necessary to stating the fact that Todd is just a great man. I've been in a rough spot and not only has he been there for me with real advice and wisdom, but also with some more concrete support in helping me with a situation. I know he wouldn't want me to do it, and I kinda hope he doesn't see this, but I want to publicly thank him for how he's helped me, and I want the rest of this board to know that Todd is an outstanding individual. I can't say enough about how thankful I am to have him as a friend. I hope to one day help someone else like he's helped me. Oh yea, and CIS rocks, too. Go there and have them teach you how to shoot stuff! )
  11. You can't even understand how much I love Dream Theater! John Petrucci is truly one of the greatest guitarists alive, and Mike Portnoyis equally amazing on drums. I can do without James Labrie (singer) and the keyboards (now Jordan Rudess) get on my nerves sometimes, but they are an incredible band. Their later concept albums are a little hard for non-fans to get, but Images and Words and Awake are albums that most people can digest easily. Those albums are from the mid nineties. Petrucci has done a couple G3 tours and all of the members have side project bands. My favorites are Jelly Jam and Liquid Tension Experiment. Maybe tomorrow when I have more time I post up links to some of their best stuff.
  12. No idea where to find it locally, but try Old Western Scrounger here Old Western Scrounger LLC They've got all kinds of oddball stuff. Good luck!
  13. Get the Lee Pro Auto Disk powder measure. I started with the regular auto disk and trust me, you will be fighting a bingding powder measure forever! Mine was always getting stuck. I coughd up the cash and got the Pro A-D, which has a little elastomer wiper and generally better construction and it hasn't been a problem any more. Have fun!
  14. Like Mikedwood, I had a Sigma once, too. The SW40VE was my first gun. Awfully heavy trigger, and yes, after a few hundred rounds the extractor broke... sent off to S&W for a quick repair and it ran flawlessly after that until I sold it about a year later. I also had the trigger worked on by a gunsmith and he brought it down to about 7lbs. Extractor problems seem very common with the Sigma series. Like others have said, it's a great training pistol. When you step up to something nice later, it'll feel driving a Rolls Royce after years of driving a beat up old Kia. Now don't take any of this as an insult to your son's choice in buying the gun. They are great guns for the price, and a pretty reliable gun once some of the kinks have been worked out, and since S&W has a lifetime warranty that isn't a really a problem at all! Happy Shootin'!
  15. I like the WWB better in the calibers I shoot: for the most part 38, 357, 40 The winchester ammo seems to use better projectiles, and both seem to have good brass for reloading.
  16. Cool!! I need to get something like that again. I sold my 12g awhile back. Stupid move!
  17. Plated bullets are fine in a Glock, IMHO. I have seen cases where the plating shears off in the bore at extreme velocities (like 1500+ fps) but you won't be anywhere near that in anything a standard Glock can shoot. As with anything, I'd test thoroughly before I let loose hundreds of rounds at a time.
  18. Wow guys. Thanks. Seriously. Ya'll are better folks than I deserve to be around.
  19. Thanks Willis, Nate, and Volzfan. You guys rock. And not just you guys, but most of the folks on this forum are awesome, too. I feel I need to do a little more confessing. IN the middle of this year, as I realized my business was not turning to profitability yet (and all the changes the company I represented were making, were making it an impossibilty to profit) I kind of freaked out. With the best of intentions, I began the process of closing down my agency. I was doing OK for a while, and then one day I just got really scared for some reason. I dropped everything. I just couldn't do anything related to that business any more. There was no one or anything holding me back from my obligations except for my stupid self. I left a few folks hanging and I greatly apologize for that. I acted in a childish, irresponsible, and selfish manner. I got some temporary work for Verizon in July/August and that was cool, but the job only lasted 7 or 8 weeks. Another sales opportunity came up and I jumped on board. Soon I was travelling quite a lot and that made it really easy to just not return calls or finish things. Just before that I took on another task that, as I began getting deeper into, I realized I could not do. I ran from that, too. I was/am a coward for that. These last few months have been really humbling. I have learned a lot about who I am (not impressed with myself, lemme tell ya) and I'm finally starting to learn who I need to be. God has been dealing with me huge, and I am so grateful for it. I am in the hard, painful times now. I have caused problems for others, too, and I am finally confronting that. I feel like Earl Hickey! (from the show "My Name Is Earl") For any of you guys that I have hurt, I'm sorry. Let me know if I can do anything to right however I've wronged you. This week I started a job at AutoZone in LaVergne. Nothing great, but I'm thankful for anything right now. Well, I've got to finish packing. I leave for Delaware tomorrow, where I'll get to see my side of that family. (which I haven't seen for 2 and a half years now. I miss them SSSOOOOO much!!!!) I may slowly work my way back onto the board if I haven't totally ruined all relationships here. You know the really lame thing? I haven't gone shooting in over 8 months!!!! How pathetic! Again, thanks for your concern guys. Your really don't know how much that helps right now.
  20. Hey guys. Yea, life has kicked me in the nuts lately. Mostly my doing, and MAN does stuff just suck in general right now! Anyways, I'm alive and trying to do a lot of growing up. Still making a stupid decision here and there, though... just to keep things interesting. Nate, I'm sorry for not getting back to you. I suck. I'll try to give you a buzz in the next couple days. I hope things are going well with you. =) Thanks Volzfan for checking on me. =)
  21. Looks great! That is a beautiful round.
  22. Looking good. What gun were you shooting them in?
  23. oh yea.. that's what you have already. Sorry! Well.... nevermind me then!
  24. One more suggestion... if you have the funds available, I sincerely suggest getting the Lee PRO Auto Disk powder measure. I had the regular auto disk as well, and it tendsto be more inaccurate, as well as binds up really bad with some powders leading to light charges or no powder being dropped at all in some extreme cases. The pro auto disk has an elastoer wiper that does a pretty good job at stopping that propbelm, and has been much more consistent for me.
  25. I'm not a 1911 owner yet, but what spring weights do you have running in that gun? If you like something not as hot, go with a lighter spring to get good cycling with the lighter powered loads. Enjoy!
