Marlin 1894 in 357. The answer to all your questions! ;-) Handloaded 357s out of an 18-20" barrel can be quite formidable. I clipped the mag spring on mine and it holds 9+1 now. It's one of the guns I will never part with.
-
Just got mine today, too. Kinda' wish it came in the actual mail so I could crumple it up and slam dunk it in the trash. Then maybe burn it.
-
Last pic makes me wish I bought a Shield yesterday instead of an M&P 9c!
-
WAIT!!! Why not the M&P22?! He can shoot a gun just like Dad's! Then, when you think he is big enough to handle the blast and recoil, he's already used to the platform. Plus, it comes with a 12 round mag... not just 10!
-
I'm with Ted. I like the P22 over the Mark series guns. Mags always seemed easier to load, easier to feed in the gun, too, imho. Takedown and cleaning is way easier, too. I know the old Rugers have been around a lot longer, but I loved my P22. I'm planning on getting another 22 semi soon, and it will be a P22 or SR22... probably whichever I get the best deal on that day.

Thanks! I took 'em out today... the 3913 runs like a champ and shoots like a dream! The 9c is going back to S&W ASAP. Sucker shoots fine... when it decides it wants to chamber a round! I gave it a good pre-cleaning and lube, but the thing simply refuses to cycle 90% of the time. I'm a S&W fanboy, but I'm licking my wounds tonight. :-(

You got it :-) I love pretty much all the S&W 3rd gen autos. Found this one in the classifieds last week.

Smith 3913. 8rd single stack da/sa. Hoping to shoot it this coming weekend! :-)

Shot my first idpa style stage today. wow.

Cool beans! It's a real hoot, huh? Totally different than just standing there shooting paper or bowling pins. I shot an IDPA match last year, and was proud to be third from last place. ;-) I've been putting off doing it again because the closest place to me holding matches always has them on Sunday. I hate missing church. Anyways, shooting tgose stages really changed a lot about how I think about possible SD situations and how I think I would handle them. Great experience. I was happy to have had zero malfunctions with my reloads. I never had an issue before, but there were a couple others guys who had some real problems with theirs.... made me nervous! -
Yep, it was! I didn't need the boobies and butts, otherwise I loved it. Oh yea... gun show... just to reiterate; though this show was much smaller than the last Murfreesboro show, I still got everything I wanted out of the trip. Color me satisfied.

I made it 57 seconds in, waiting for something to happen... I stopped because what was about to happen was the application of a 115gr XTP to my phone. What am I missing here?

oops. Read the wrond headline...

I had a good day. Sold two shotguns, bought an M&P9c, and some powder & bullets from Sam at David's stand. Pleasantly surprised with a great deal from Sam. Highlight of my day :-) I SHOULD be loading up a bunch of shiny 9mms, but I'm lazy right now... and I'm gunna go see Rush (the movie) tonight... maybe tomorrow afternoon.

Haha! Kinda! It's my birthday in a couple weeks... that's my excuse. :-)

Look what showed up at my house. I don't even know what happened... I had some cash, and was about to put it away but when I went to find it, these were just sittin' there. And some bloke left all this stuff on my doorstep earlier in the week. Guess I know what I'll be doing this week. How terrible!

Lowe's has 5 gallon buckets for like $3. You don't have too much. One of the reloading shops I frequent gives a small credit for spent brass. Once or twice a year I take down, sorted, of course, calibers I don't load for or simply brass from manufacturers I don't particularly care for. I usually get something like $30-50, which years ago bought a pound of powder and a few hundred bullets. Sounds like you might be able to trade for a new 1911.
-
Hey, I thought it was funnt enough to give it that one, short, forced breath of knowing approval. That should be enough involvement these days. :-D
-
Very cool. :-) I kinda' been doing that for years with my 38 loads, but didn't really know it! Plated 148gr hbwc over the lightest charge of Titegroup I can stomach... so far, every one has made it all the way out of the barrel. Every now and then one tumbles a bit and leaves a cool oval on the target. Hm... guess I should bump it up a bit, now that I think about it. :-D

Haha! You got there after me! There is an empty spot where I took the last box of 100rds 180gr JHP Remington .40. :-) I also got the last two 100rd boxes of Winchester 12g for $20.97. They raised the price on Federal to $23.xx. Bummer, as I prefer Federal to Winchester. Did you see the 22 Mag? Quite surprising.

The Glock barrel issue has to due with their polygonal vs traditional rifling, which can lead to lead buildup and a possible overpressure issue with lead bullets. It is not an issue of feeding/chambering. Glocks are generally known as "looser" when it comes to chamber tolerances. Some say this is their secret to reliability... and .40 caliber kabooms. ;-) I am still very curious as to what the chambering issues with that ammo is.

+ Infinity! LOL!!

Wow. That IS bad!

Hahaha!! I TOTALLY get where you're at! The first few times I'd tear into a guitar I'd find out I didn't have this or that part, or that modern saddles wouldn't fit a vintage bridge or whatever. Half the fun was finding that out and chasing parts down. Wifey didn't get that and just thought I was an idiot who didn't know what he was doing.... guess she wasn't wrong, really. But it was fun! :-D
-
Mark, you're crazy! You take your common sense and get outta here!! We as America will not stand applying that kind of dangerous thought to politics! But seriously... I totally agree.

Congrats! Man... I gotta get on the bandwagon! I must be the only dope on this forum without a 1911! Enjoy your new piece! :-)
