  1. And a 30 years ago they were probably $5/100. :/ As much as I'd love to walk into a store and demand they sell ammo to me at the price I paid yesteryear, it simply isn't going to happen. It is October 18th, 2013. $25.xx per 100 rds of brass cased factory new jacketed bullet 9mm is within a dollar or two of the best price you can find anywhere, be it brick and mortar or online. I don't like gas over $3/gallon... heck I don't like it over 50¢ a gallon. But, if I want my fancy 325 hp AWD sports sedan to move without me getting behind and grunting, I buy the stuff. And yes, I still have plenty of boxes of WWB 9mm from when it was $17/100... I also make the stuff myself for about $12/100. I am a bit of a prepper/hoarder, but I don't mind being nice enough to take the time out of my day to share the scores and honey holes when I find them. I think we are close to the bottom which will become the new norm for most ammo prices. I think 223/556 and of course, 22lr as supplies return, still have a bit further to fall. We might see general handgun ammo fall maybe 5-10% more at the major retailer levels, but I can't imagine much more than that. Small retailers (LGSs) will eventually come back to reality once the majors have continuous supply, erasing the portion of the market willing to pay $30/50rd of 9mm (like I saw at one place today) simply because they have more money than sense/time to search for it. Fuss about prices of the past all you want, but that's what they are - past.
  2. l Mt Juliet new Wally. All the 22 short you want for $4.27/box. They now have 2 less of the 9/100 boxes :-) That's under $13/50 for brass 9mm made in the USA. I roll my own, but I like having a stash of factory stuff too... warm fuzzies all over!
  3. The Nashville area trucks come on Mon, Wed, Fri. Earlier is better.
  4. Got my order in. Can't wait!
  5. I'd guess K frame... but I don't think a fitted K frame holster will be a perfect match for the SP either. :-(
  6. Nice! Congrats!
  7. Is this still happening anywhere in Rutherford county?
  8. Murfreesboro rd south of Bell rd. Bagged my limit, and my Single Six will love 'em.
  9. Now there's a good dude. Also, I think there's an entire Lee reloading setup for sale in the classifieds right now, too.
  10. Have you thought about posting a want ad in the classifieds here on TGO?
  11. Oh man! I feel for ya Dude. Sadly, I remember about 4 years ago I had a friend who worked the sporting goods counter at WalMart. They clearanced out a bunch of less popular grain weights of some calibers for $5/box. He called me and I was there ASAP! I got 7 boxes of Remington 180gr 44 Mags... the rest was rifle stuff I didn't have any guns for... the biggest pile: 243 WSSM, the Winchester black box fancy stuff... for $5/box. Sorry Man. :-( I'll keep an eye out at my regular Academy and Wally stops.
  12. Glad you like it! :-)
  13. Some of those numbers are suspect, Red. There are 7,000 grains in a pound, not 1,000. Generally, FIVE thousand small rifle primers are $120-150, not ONE thousand at that price. Other than that, I mostly agree. :-)
  14. Ha! That's funny, 6.8! I wonder how many folks across the country watched "Hating Breitbart' and loaded ammo yesterday.
  15. Sure does!! Good work. ;-)
  16. So, you were "processing" shells, then! Can't reload 'em if they're still full! :-)
  17. Man, it's been a nice day! Woke up a little early to put in a pork roast, then off to church. Back home for a great lunch, and the rest of the day to do nothing. I load on a turret press and load via Lee Auto-Prime. I had a good sized bucket full of 44 brass, resized and deprimed, so I went to town. At first I just grabbed 4 trays of primers. After an episode of House of Cards and halfway through the documentary Hating Breitbart, I went out to the garage and grabbed a fresh 1k sleeve of primers. Wifey and I also watched a few episodes of Modern Family, all the while I kept priming away. Here are the results of my labor today: Anybody else spend some time processing brass or reloading today?
  18. I'm sure they only mean a free $10 service WHEN you buy a gun that has much more than a $10 margin in it. ;-) And their transfer fees are STOOPID. Probably the best way to go about it is to negotiate your price, then mention the ad and see what they say. Not a bad LGS though, and I've bought a few guns there and will continue to in the future.
  19. Those grips are the business!
  20. Yes, all the magnets I'm getting are countersunk for mounting via screws. Sliding will not be a problem. :-)
  21. I like that idea, too Erik. I've got a bunch of those 5 gallon paint stirrers already. They make great target stands! ;-) I've got a few different things coming from KJMagnetics... I'll try a few different things and then post 'em up here. Eventually I'd like to figure out a few long gun solutions, too.
  22. Awesome! I'm looking at a few diffefent magnets from KJmagnetics too! I'm looking at stuff between 23-30lbs pull weight, as it's going to hold a full size M&P. I hadn't thought of the depth issue. Excellent point! They have one countersunk block that's 1/2" thick. That sounds perfect.
  23. I've seen all kinds of things advertised to mount a handgun or rifle in a convenient place with rubber coated magnets screwed to a nightstand, headboard, etc. A vendor at the last Murfreesboro show had some and I thought it was a great idea... shoulda' bought some, but powder & primers were callin' my name. Most seem to be $20+, but I'm thinking about getting a can of Plasti-Dip and coating some countersunk neodymium magnets I can get less expensively. What are your experiences with these things? I was talking with a friend about this idea, and he brought up the point that maybe you could magnetiz something that you don't want magnetized by doing that. Sounds plausible, but is there anything in an average revolver or semi-auto that would begin to malfuntion if magnetized? I've got an online cart full of stuff I want to try from a magnet store, but I just don't want to spend the money until I hear some testimonies. Fire away!

    Ruger 77/357

OS, is yours the shorter version? I haven't bothered looking up spec, you're probably right. I bought mine new and it was a beast to load, and I could only get 8 357s in there. 9 38s would fit. Then I cut about 4" off the spring and things got much easier, and I finally got that 9th 357. :-)
