Ok, you posted that while I was typing. :-) Yea, that first run was old enough to be legal for sale now. I thought we were still talking about the current run of Gubmint Gitterz. Like Nicky said, dude is nuts. We were offered those at less than 1/5 of his asking price, and they were not for employees only, though they did make a big push for us to buy one. (I didn't)
-
Ha! I couldn't see it either, but I doubt it's an employee. Is the serial # in the listing or pics? Bigtime no-no for us to sell our guitars within 12 mos of purchase. Henry has successfully prosecuted some folks, and they watch for that kind of thing.

Those videos were shot at today's Zombie match. Normal IDPA matches have 10rd limits, but this was an informal event. We had guys shooting from 8 to 15 rounds, maybe more. The smart people got fresh mags in transitions. The new mooks (me) were simply doing everything we could not to shoot ourselves or any of the other nice people around. :-) Vontar, your setup sounds great... as long as you don't miss much. I did. A lot. :-( Part of the fun is having to deal with problems like running dry, ftf, fte, etc! I kept 6 mags on me each stage... don't think I ever used more than three today. I'd love some balls-out crazy stage with like a 90 round course of fire, a bunch up close and a few 4" steels wwwaaaayyyy out there just to make us mad! Haha! I've got capacity for 120rds with my M&P right now... I'd love to have to use it all!

Ha! Jcoop, I missed one completely on stage 1 as well! Norma, not to get too corny, but thanks for the post-match hug! You are a GREAT shooter, and very welcoming to us newbies! I got the vids quick-spliced and uploaded... don't laugh too much at us! My buddy Mike at the steels: http://youtu.be/-DEBbA6rQp0 Me at the steels: http://youtu.be/X13IWtCC_ak Me at the final stage. Non-smokers need not apply! http://youtu.be/X13IWtCC_ak ----- OK, the "embed" links aren't working. what am I doing wrong? I swapped to just regular links until I figure it out. -
Zombie Match - Music City Tactical Shooters
musicman replied to HOGNUT's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
AWESOME day!!! Tons of fun, especially the all-steel stage! As is normal, I was clearly shown my own flaws today... tunnel vision (missed a threat completely) and general poor form/mechanics being the two biggies for me today. I can't think of a more fun way to discover that! I also learned that, while economical, cast lead is not the best choice for rapid fire in low-wind conditions! It was great to meet some fellow TGOers as well! My friend Mike had a blast, too. I'm hoping he'll join TGO soon. Thanks so much to the MCTS staff and members for all your work in creating a safe, friendly, and fun event. I hope to have some video ready of our rookie shoot in a few days. I'll post it up here when it's done. Thanks again! -
Wife's first time ever firing a pistol
musicman replied to DixieDawg's topic in Women's Perspectives
Yep, I'm a reloader too... those free-loadin' turkeys still don't know how good they got it! -
and I think the M&P22 comes with a 12 rd magazine! Quite the novelty in the world of 10 rd 22 pistols!

Wife's first time ever firing a pistol

Cool Beans! I had a similar proud moment a few years ago when I took my wife shooting for her first time. She was afraid of guns before we met... now she wields her 357 like it's nuthin'! Anotehr teacher buddy of hers is afraid of guns, but recently married a guy who has a mild interest in guns. I'm hoping once this weather calms down some weekend soon the four of us will go shooting. There's not much more fun than introducing people to firearms and sharing the hobby! Though it does get expensive being the ammo sugar-daddy! :yuck: -
Congrats!! I am an M&P fanboy... got 4 of 'em right now. I think they're the best striker-fired guns out there. Can't wait to wring out the 40 Pro tomorrow at the Zombie match in Dickson! Enjoy your new piece!

Very nice! I think you should accessorize with an M&P 9, M&P 40, and an M&P 45!!

Zombie Match - Music City Tactical Shooters

Super excited about this! I'll be bringing a friend as well. I've never been out to this location before. Will there be the opportunity/an area for us to shoot some short-range rifles and shotguns after the match? -

I know this is going to sound redundant and cheesy, but I really do hope there is another group buy from CMT like this in the future. I still can't believe how nice the lower is. That allen key bolt catch is the business! This buy caught me a little short, so I just did the lower and BCG, opting to just buy a complete upper later. It worked out fabulously and now I want to build a super nice rifle (or 3) using all 3 main CMT components. That square shouldered upper looks ssssoooo mean! I also would like to echo the interest in an AR10 variant. That one would take me longer to build, but I wouldn't mind looking at that block of billet awesomeness on the shelf while waiting to get it all together! A buying event in the early fall, like the last one, would be wonderful. I too appreciate the work of the TGO staff and the fine folks at CMT Tactical. I know they cut their margin, but I still do hope they made at least some money on the deal. Their product is spectacular.

I have #53, but it's #1 to me! :-)

I love 1911s, but that's probably the dumbest thing I've ever seen done to what are otherwise fine firearms.

My former GP100 and 686 are the only two guns I really regret selling. I think I miss the GP just a smidge more, because I put that thing through hades when I was in the height of my reloading experimentation days... I never went outside of published data, but I still touched off some incredible explosions with that thing and it never skipped a beat. Boy would it get warm, though!

Haha! Yea, love that yellow! I'm supposed to want mine in blue... I love blue everything.... but that yellow screams "pick me!! PICK ME!!!!" every time I see it! The blue is so dark it's almost black. I'm just a peon man... our guitars are designed and decided wwwaayyyy upstream of me!
-
I think I'm the one TDR was referencing. These guitars are made using the seized wood those commie basta.... the Feds took in the raid. I'm not personally a huge fan of the finish on these, but that's a personal taste thing. Most of the ones I built (I personally touch about a third of the guitars we make) were nice and heavy, just really ballsy feeling! Nicky's got it right, the Dirty Fingers pickups are much hotter and ... well.. dirty! than the traditional '57s or 490/498 pickups folks have gotten used to over the years. But, if you're gunna use this thing to scream out pissed off rock mayhem in defiance to "the MAN", these pickups are all about that! Switching gears... my favorite new guitar we're making right now is the 2014 Les Paul Melody Maker! I know... crazy! It's a street price of about $550, satin finish, thin-line body style, but all maple and still pretty heavy. It's one solid sunnuvagun! The P90 pickups in it are pretty plain and a little low on the output, so those would be swapped out for something aftermarket if it were mine. I don't know I love it so much, but I enjoy every one I handle.. might get me one this summer. I can't decide if I want the blue, red, or yellow.

The hotter your load, the more the brass is worked as well. I don't even attempt to keep track of how many times a case is used. I can generally feel when one is starting to split when I run it through the decapper/resizer. I kick out a lot more 357 brass than any other handgun caliber. I don't remember kicking out very much auto stuff at all over the years. If I had to guess, I'd say some of my 40 brass is on maybe it's 10th to 11th loading by now, going by how many cases I have and how many bullets I've bought over the years. In my experience, nickel plated cases split more often. For instance, nickel brass makes up only 5-7% of my 357 brass, but about half my split 357 cases are nickel. I treat them all the same, loading them all in big batches, mixed up w the regular brass.

Nice! My school of Smiths is starting to resemble your bushel of Berettas! Beautiful collection!
