Shield 9 with Hornady FTX +Ps... don't remember what grain. The knife is a Kershaw Blur tanto serrated. I absolutely love both the gun and the knife! Whatcha got on you today? Pics or it didn't happen!

Shield. End of story.

I'm in the same boat, Runco!

D'oh!! The dreaded double post!
-
Hahahahahahahahahaha!!! And I'm not s'posed to go over 70mph on I-24 - by law. C'mon Bro! ;-) Even though I ordered an upper last week, I took the free shipping opportunity to go ahead and buy all the ammo I removed from my cart in that last transaction.

Cool! Congrats! How's she shoot?

I echo the recommendation to consider Hermitage. I live in Smyrna now and love it, but the drive in from 40 on the East side is generally more predictable than from 24 south. Specifically, there are some nicer apartment/ condos right off I40 exit 221, Old Hickory Blvd. I lived at Cherry Creek right after college and loved it! Close to lots of shopping and good restaurants, both chain and independent. A little further out you have areas like Hickory Hills which have some very nice neighborhoods with very nice homes in the 220-300k range.

I had the same issues of always missing the UPS man. I signed up at the mychoice thing and had them hold my packages at the UPS distribution center. Thankfully that's all of 400 yards from where I work! :-) That may not be convenient for you, but just sharing another option. -
Prayers sent, dude. Here's to hoping it's just a quick bug.

Mossy 500 7+1... all 2 3/4" 00 buck. Cheap stuff. Honestly, I simply can't imagine that letting me down in any situation where I might actually have a chance. To be honest though, the couple times I've heard what I thought might be a terrible "bump in the night" I have always grabbed the full size M&P 40 (now an M&P 40 Pro) in my nightstand to investigate. If I am wearing something with pockets, a spare mag goes with me. I have a lot of tight corners, and I don't believe the "rack a shotgun and they'll pee their pants and run away" hooey the Bubba brigade always spouts off. They've already chosen to break into an occupied home... they have proven they are incapable of rational decision making. I know my house. I know where the creaky hardwood boards are, and which two steps to skip on my staircase. I know where the streetlight shines through the windows. I prefer to be as silent as possible and make as small of a visual impact as a 315lb man in his underwear (or not) at 3am can make. My already-chambered pistol does that better than any of my shotguns or rifles. My last IDPA style zombie shoot showed me that I've got rapid fire triple taps down pretty well. I'm cool wit dat.

I really like that! That reminds me... somebody else camo'd their AR in a similar fashion awhile ago and I fell in love with it, even though I generally dislike camo guns. Guess I'm slowly coming around! I'm waiting on PSA to ship my upper and a couple other parts to show up for a super basic under $400 ar build. I think that's the perfect platform to try my own rattle can camo! Would you mind sharing exactly which brands/colors of paint you used?

There are a few things about the show that almost pushed me to stop watching. Actually, wifey and I quit part way through the first season for about a week. I talked about the show with some coworkers who had already watched it all. We decided to resume thes series. Season 2 was just as good as the first, better imho. I love watching the political wrangling and infighting. I like the corporate push they weave in. Some crazy tidbits: Claire is played by Robin Wright... the sweet Princess Buttercup from the goofy Princess Bride movie! It tripped me out when I learned that! In an interview, she (Robin Wright) said that while she spent time in DC prepping to play that role she saw that DC was more currupt and screwy than Hollywood... and she was married to that idiot Sean Penn! Says a lot right there. Not many know that House of Cards is a remake of a BBC series from years ago. It too is on Netflix. I've only watched the first episode, but I will eventually watch it all. The major plot lines and many characters are lifted directly from this series for the new one. Of course, British Parliament functions very differently than our Congress. Very interesting to watch the PM duke it out on the parliament floor! I wish we could drag that clown in the white house into a fiery butt-whoopin' with the likes of Trey Gowdy and Darrel Issa!

Just another reason the Murfreesboro show is worth the drive, imho.

Ditto HP. If it weren't for just blowing all but $355 of our tax refund on necessary surgery for wifey, I coulda' bought a Barrett... and not just the single shot. :/
-
I saw that 40 Shield deal. LOVE my Shield 9 and I was very tempted to pick up the 40 just 'cuz, but decided to hold off for now. Wifey just got out of surgery a few minutes ago... even with our great insurance, it was still over $4k out of pocket. :-P No more guns for a bit. :-(

Yea, seems wasteful when it comes to shipping expense, huh? I also wonder (but didn't keep the shipping boxes on hand to verify) if some shipments coms from different locations. I think PSA has 3 retail stores. I don't know to what level they interact with the online operations.
-
Yup, usually a separate shipment. Was it an upper? Last time I made a larger order which had an upper and a bunch of other stuff, all the other stuff came in one box left on my doorstop. The upper was "signature required" and took me a couple more days to sync up with the UPS man and actually receive the thing.

Do you ever make it up to cool springs/brentwood? I visit those WalMarts and Academy about 2x a month... same stories there... just about anything you want except 22.
-
Stabilize what availability? I've been buying pretty much anything I want in a short amount of time for months now. It might take a trip to two retailers in a day, but short of 22 you're likely to find what you want. The shelves at this Wally were overflowing with ammo... cheap 9, 40, 45, 32, 38, 223, 308, 243, ... only regular handgun stuff I didn't see today was 357 and 380. It sounds like they hired away one of the management morons from my place of employ. So disconnected from the real operations that when they FINALLY become aware of a problem (in this case, 22 shortage) they go with a complete kneejerk reaction and screw up the entire thing, rather than make a small policy modification to address a specific problem. Am I wrong about this?

Meh... I put a nicer PTAC on my TGO lower and I'm super happy with it. I do plan on building a fancier varmint style gun on the TGO lower later and moving the old PTAC on to another lower. No reason not to have multiple rifles!
-
Just to give you time build it out real nice and all... my birthday is in October. ;-) Thanks for looking Nicky!

http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ptac-16-mid-length-5-56mm-1-9-upper-without-bcg-or-charging-handle.html Yea, $189!! No, it's not fancy or anything, but if you've got a built out lower or two and some BCGs just sittin' in a drawer somewhere (like I do) then this may just be too good of a deal to pass up! I've got a built poly lower that I've been wanting to build in to a cheap, lightweight fungun. I almost bought one of the $300 PSA uppers last week but decided to wait... glad I did! I know some folks poo-poo the PTAC stuff. That's fine. I have a PTAC complete upper on my other AR and it has been GREAT! Well built and running like a top since I slapped it on a lower about 1,200 rounds ago. Unfortunately, they didn't have any cheap/basic charging handles or rear sights in stock. If anybody has one or both in good condition and uh... reasonably inexpensive :nervous: please PM me. Anywho, just thought I'd pass the deal along. I thought it may have been an April fools' joke, but I checked out and got my confirmation email! Happy shootin'!

Went to my Antioch Wally today... no dice on the 22 today. I was, however, gunna go ahead and buy some .270 and .40. As I was pointing out to the clerk what I wanted to buy, he said I could only get one box of ammo. I said "one box, of 22, right? You don't have any 22, so I can get regular stuff, right?" which has been the case for awhile at Wally. He said "No. Just one box of ammo per person, no matter the caliber. It was on our conference call last night." I politely told him to go ahead and hold onto that box of .40 and left. Academy had the Monarch brass in stock for less anyway. I was just dumb enough to keep going to Wally before. I quit now. Academy had better pricing on their .223 as well.

Brian, my SR22 does the same thing. Annoying.

DaveTN, you and I have the same dream. Geez.... what a guy could do with 50+ acres and $8-10 million!
