  1. This got me thinking a little more... In general, I've been planning around the idea of needing to relocate for the long term quickly. I have boxes/tubs of necessities/tools to throw into either car, if we have that option. To that end, I've changed some of my general reloading recipes to use lighter bullets in my loads to try and reduce pack weight. 115gr 9mm instead of 124, 125gr 357 instead of 158, 140gr 40 instead of 165/180, and 200gr 44 instead of 240. I've also moved to using generic plastic boxes for ammo storage, instead of cardboard boxes with trays. They are a waste of space. I'm not completely happy with what I have now, as they have a sizeable lip that wastes space when you have multiple boxes beside each other. I have some disposable gladware that holds about 175rds of 40 or 230ish rounds of 9 each. I like that amount/weight, but still need to find a more square and stronger solution. The gladware gets flimsy with that weight, and again, with the rims wastes a lot of space.
  2. Stuff I have: 1: My most recent AR build, a 16" iron sight lightweight. Chest rig with lots o mags, loaded with green tips... if they're rollin' deep, maybe I can get 2 or 3 at a time! Ha! I have tons of mags, and half a dozen or so 40 rounders in a bag ready to go. 2: My M&P 40 Pro, fullsize, and compact. They all use the same mags, which I have almost 20 of them now. 3: Estwing hatchet. I'd also have a Mora sheath knife or three strapped to me and my pack.
  3. As of two weeks ago (last time I went) wally in Antioch was on a strict one box limit. I might revisit next week to see if it's changed.
  4. I am completely lost.   Ah well... been here before; I'll be here again!
  5. I've even found some ammo to be cheaper at Academy as well.  Add to that the fact that Wally instituted a stupid one box PERIOD limit... I haven't bought ammo there in awhile!
  6. I'm addicted to Big's brand bacon flavored sunflower seeds. :shame:
  7. VERY cool!   So... when you wanna dump all those useless 2" and 4" S&Ws at 10 years ago pricing, gimme a shout!    :dirty:
  8. In. If #15 is available, that'd be sweet!
  9. I am continually amazed by how awesome the members of this forum are. I'm very glad to be a part of it!
  10. I'm just gunna go ahead and post up now... I couldn't make it happen in time to jump on this (never even checked this subforum until a few days ago) but I want one. Bad. I know I look pathetic now, but pride has never been an issue for me. ;-) Any of you guys who ordered more than one and might possibly sell a spare, please PM me! I know I'll be paying extra. I got a couple more cheap guitars to sell... I'll make it happen!
  11. I really wanted in on the last one, but saw it too late to scrape the $ together. Count me in for this one! I've been getting into blades pretty heavy lately, but on a budget. (Kershaw American stuff, SOGs, etc) This will be my first over-$100 knife, and I can't think of a better way to go. I'm out of town, but when I get home I'm going to check my TGO AR and I'd like to see if that serial is available, if possible. Thanks!
  12. I've had good luck with listing here as well as the gun shows. Modern guns seem to go faster/get better money for me here on TGO. I believe there is possibly a bit of a younger (due to having a more tech savvy, social media aware audience) group here on TGO interested in more of the black gun/semi auto persuasion. I've done better at the gun shows with my older shotguns. In one case, I got nearly $100 more than I was asking here on TGO for an old LC Smith. I feel there are more vintage firearm collectors at some shows. Also, I've made some great buddies through FTF sales here on TGO!
  13. Yep, Factory Crimp Die. Let us know if that clears it up! :)
  14. I do.
  15. I enjoy watching the birds in my back yard, but haven't started feeding them. I live right off of Sam Ridley parkway and I-24 in Smyrna in an pretty quiet neighborhood. I think we have 70-80 houses and no through streets so very little traffic. My house is along the back side of a large wooded area so we have lots of deer, turkey, squirrels, rabbits, etc. I've seen a couple hawks, but I think they were just visiting. I've started enjoying nature in a different way... veggie gardening! I've never grown anything before, so this is all new to me. I have pretty much zero soil as I'm on a hill of solid rock, so everything is in pots. Just last night we had our very first salad made completely of things I grew; Swiss Chard and Romaine! It was great! I've got about 10 varieties of medium/hot peppers, as I am a spice lover. I can't wait for them to come in! Oh, we also ate our very first homegrown strawberry yesterday, too! Also on deck are some bush beans, tomatoes, crook-neck squash, white and red onions, cilantro, two kinds of mint, oregano, basil, and some more I'm sure I forgot. Here's a pic from earlier in the week. This is most of them... I pulled them into the garage to hide out from the storms they said were coming in. I had some leftovers that I didn't have pots for, so I just decided to do something crazy and throw some soil around the base of a few trees in the back yard and do some tree-trunk planting. I doubt it'll work, but what the heck! Here's one example: Next year I plan on growing some potatoes in stacked tires.
  16. Strongly disagree with the perception that the Ruger trigger is better than the Smith trigger. Of course, all of us (especially me) are just forum jockeys so who really cares what we say. I have owned both... I still have the Smith double action revolvers. No more Rugers. The nice thing about the Smith guns is that you can just about find anything you want from Scandium to Aluminum to Steel for whatever you deem to be a good balance of weight for shooting comfort vs light for carry comfort. They offer more options between the nice but heavy SP101 and the light butt ugly LCR. I am not very recoil sensitive. 357s out of a steel snubbie don't bother me, but even I can't take more than a cylinder of hot 357s from a Scandium gun. 38 +p, on the other hand, is fine by me no matter what platform it comes flying out of. More than anything, +p seems just a bit louder with a touch more snap. As others have said, you also have a lot more aftermarket holster/accessory options with the country's #1 carry gun for decades running, the S&W J frame. That's this forum jockey's useless opinion. ;-)
  17. Nice! Can I ask about what one tricked out like that would cost?
  18. 'Nuther M&P vote here. I flippin' love 'em!
  19. Absolutely spot on advice from MLTN, as usual! That's pretty much exactly what I did for my first 3 ARs. They are all a little different and serve different purposes. (But mainly are all there for when the Zombie Apocalypse happens) I am going the full custom route with my next one, however. I ordered the guts (lower, stripped upper, upper parts kit, and a basic trigger for now) from a crazy PSA deal earlier this week. This will be a basic but solid varmint style gun with probably a 20" fluted stainless heavy bull barrel and some high powered optic.. probably a Vortex from what I've been looking at so far. TrickyNicky's comments/suggestions are inline with Eddie's philosophy of starting with a mostly put-together gun. Just slap the halves together and shoot! Tons of fun! Welcome to the addiction. ;-)
  20. Just curious... what do you mean by 'the M&P22 is a Walther."? I haven't shot the M&P22 yet myself. I have owned both an SR22 and a P22.
  21. Argh!!! That's gotta be tough.
  22. Ugh... I'm a sucker. I bought it. And when I added the stripped upper to my cart it dropped to $39.99. And then when I added the upper parts kit it went to $24.99. Geez!
  23. Ergh! I am refusing to fall for their evil ploy of selling me the things I want for ridiculously low prices!!! Seriously... this is hard. I even have one more spare BCG from the TGO buy waiting for the next build. Ugh... I could... but I shouldn't.
  24. What percentage of our Northern brethren are firearm owners?
  25. Oh yea... I forgot all of those details!  Hahaha!  Yea, I think I shot the first 12-14 rounds, then you shot two standing, then those three prone.  Man, the more I think about it, the rifle IS pretty awesome, huh?  Best $400 I ever spent! Ha!   Later, I went through 114 rds (2x42rd mags and one 30rd mag) in less than 2 minutes without a hitch.  Sucker was HOT!! BUT... perfectly fine.
