Mourning the loss of one of our own. Hunter Harris.
musicman replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
Wow. Sadness. Yes, I believe that God is in control and works all things together for the good of those who serve Him. That does not negate the fact that we will experience and endure terrible events hardships like Hunter's family and close friends are going through now. I remember Hunter from the OHGC meets, too. I remember one time, he had his M1A there, set up at the 100yd lanes. His father had recently passed away. The ammo he was shooting was reloaded match ammo his father had made. I didn't know that at first. I am very unexperienced with long guns. I looked at his gun, asked a few (probably terribly stupid) questions and within seconds he had me at the bench, rifle on my shoulder, sending rounds downrange. I fired 4 or 5 rounds and was very appreciative. I was going to stop shooting, ya know, how we do when we want to be respectful of another dude's ammo supply/expense. He wouldn't have any of it... he could see I was having a great time. I mentioned something to the effect of "this ammo must be realy expensive, I don't wanna shoot it all up!" Previous to this meet, Hunter had shared on the forum about his Dad's passing. He replied that this was ammo his Dad had made years ago, so it didn't cost him anything. That REALLY hit me. I got quiet, and he just smiled and said "He'd want us to shoot it!" and plopped two more loaded mags on the bench right in front of me. They must have kicked up some onion dust at that moment or something... I nodded, loaded a mag, and fired them in respect, reverence, and humility that Hunter would share all that with a complete stranger like me. I'll be praying for Kelly and the kids. And I will try to be more thankful for what I have, and for my wife. She is not a touchy-feely person at all, but she's going to be held a little longer and a little closer tonight. -
Hey Willis I think the sickness is contagious.

Wow. That knife is beautiful! Looks like TGO custom knife #3 to me!! -
Take my estimate with a grain of salt... I can be a real pushover, especially when helping other reloaders. I've been on the receiving end of generosity from a number of forum members here, and try to reciprocate when I can.

I'd want at least 150 spent brass for a box of factory ammo. I think a box of 38 at Wally is still around $20, so even 200-250 pcs would really be equitable, imho.

Fair deal on a good pistol. If I were going to carry it, I'd get the 5903. If its purpose was to be a range toy, I'd go 5906. I have a 3913 (compact single stack alum frame 9mm) and absolutely love it. Fantastic shooter, and not a single hiccup. Those 2nd & 3rd Gen Smith autos are just great. I love my M&Ps too, but those older guns are so cool looking/feeling. I just have one more M&P to get (5" 9 Pro) and then I'll get back to building the collection of Smith steel autos.

Great! I'll pick up a spare Shield or two on the cheap while you guys go for the P22 Magnum! :D

Official TGO LG101 Pro Tech Buy in thread ORDERS NOW CLOSED
musicman replied to willis68's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Haha! Last nice knife I got, I immediately went and cut something... my left index finger, and 1" long and pretty deep. However, it was a beautiful and clean cut with zero tearing. It bled very little and I just folded the fresh filet back down and it healed quickly with no scarring. It hurt a little, but it was such a beautiful thing it didn't even bother me! Yea... I'm crazy I guess. :/ -
Cool! What's the capacity and barrel length currently?
-
Hey! I drive a Volvo! It's a V8 AWD beast that's more comfy at 120mph than your living room couch! I resent that remark, Mike! Haha! Just kiddin'... I'm used to the stereotype. ;-)
-
Hahahaha!!! There's that arrogant commie! Haha! Just realized this is the HANDGUN forum! In that case, my M&P fullsize 40 with my extra 9mm barrel. I've got over a dozen mags for it... I need more pockets!
-
AR. Seriously. I've been thinking about it, as I have everything listed... Marlin 1894, S & W 19 4", and M&Ps in 9 and 40 in all sizes. If I have to grab one gun and go, it's an AR. I have more mags and ammo for them than anything else. Distance, capacity, adequate power for most needs, and firing rate. I'll probably be dead before I ran out of ammo in a Red Dawn scenario... just sayin '.

Oh, and 22 left.

I just gotta say, these guys are on the ball! I sent an email after I ordered asking if they already had D&Ts FFL on file. I already got a friendly reply telling me they do have it on file. Wow! I totally didn't expect a response until tomorrow, if at all!
-
40 in stock now... my guess is that they'll be out of stock by midnight. :ugh: Now I'm thinking I should have ordered 4 or 5 :surrender:
-
Dang. 2 ordered. 52 left now... there were 71 when I first checked the site 15 mins ago. Get 'em while they're hot!
-
Dang dude. Dang. I don't need this. I'll probably order a couple. But I don't need this. But I'll probably order a couple. Dang. Dude.

BTW, is was 71/29 in favor of gun control this morning. Just now it was 50/50 with us trailing by 4 votes.
-
Yea. All that is right. Still, go ahead and click "no". Don't let them remain in their bubble of stupidity and get the result (a poll showing more in favor of gun control) they are fishing for. Whenever we have an opportunity we need to speak, be heard/counted, and not be passive.

That looks like all kindsa' fun!

Official TGO Pro Tech Godfather Buy in thread SOLD OUT
musicman replied to willis68's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
I'm seriously contemplating ordering two of these Godfathers. Simply awesome looking piece of work! Being new to the world of fancy knives, I'll wait til I get the LG101 in hand before I commit to doubling up. Of course, the swift return of overtime at work can make that decision much easier! ;-) -
I am amazed at the dedication and time some folks have to keep brass in "batches." In my world, the stuff gets, shot, picked up and tossed in a bucket where it will sit until it's full, at which point it will be sorted. Then, as time permits, it will be polished, deprimed, primed, and eventually loaded. I have no idea how many times a round has been loaded. I guesstimate some are nearing the dozen mark based on how many bullets I've loaded and how much brass I have for a given caliber. If a case is suspect, I toss it. Pretty much all there is to it. I rarely have to chuck brass, but when I do it's usually 357 splitting at the mouth.

Meh... Dollarshaveclub.com's $6/month razors. I have a beard, but keep my neck and cheeks (the top ones) clean with a dry shave (no foam, soap, or water) before jumping in the shower. I usually shave every 2nd or 3rd day. I like a fresh, clean blade and generally change it out every couple weeks. I get four new blades shipped every month and have a nice little stockpile in a drawer.

Newest blade finished today....
musicman replied to Grand Torino's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Geez... I never shoulda' popped my head into this forum a few weeks ago... been here on TGO for years and never really looked in here. I've always liked pocket folders and now I'm on the hook for 2 ProTech knives! Until now, the most expensive knife I've ever bought was $46. Now I'll have two knives that together cost more than my first new Smith & Wesson! :stunned: Now you go and do this to me, Gran Torino! I never cared much for fixed blades before, but I saw the two you posted awhile ago and thought "that's cool." Then you show us THIS beast/beauty! You're killin' me smalls!  But seriously... that thing is awesome. -
If I had brass to get rid of, and I wasn't necessarily trying to set up an income stream, I'd try to trade/barter for other stuff I wanted. Maybe a reloader out there is willing to swap 100rds of factory 9mm for 500-1,000 9mm brass cases. Heck, I'D swap a 100rd box of WWB for 1k 9mm brass! That's a newer caliber in my reloading arsenal and I'm always wanting to beef up the brass inventory.
