17 High-End Guitars Stolen From Springfield
musicman replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
Ugh! Man, that blows. I know stuff is just "stuff", but I like my guitars and toys a bunch anyway. Hope they find the turds and can recover some/all of his fiddles, no matter how unlikely that is. -
I'm tagging along to find anyone who can recommend a gunsmith who has done this job with good results. I have a Shield and 3 M&Ps I'd like to negotiate a "group install" deal on for a bunch of APEX kits.

You'd be surprised. Right after college I worked as a manufacturers' representative for a group of high end a/v consumer electronics companies. $100k speakers, $80k amps, $12,000 DVD players, and $30-50k projectors were more common than you would think. The ultra-rich (multiple Ferraris at mutilple houses) are out there, and they are all excited about ways to spend waaaayyyyy too much on something.

Got 1,150 rds of 22 this week in 3 trips, all after 4pm at big box stores.

Lee Factory Crimp Die, anyone? Are you running them through one of these as your final step? As long as the die is in spec, there should be no problem chambering, even if the other crimp die is a little out of spec.

Hit my Academy around 5:30 today and got two boxes of Blazer grey box for $2.69 each. This week I got one Federal 525 rd box and those two Blazers. I'm happy. Mind you, these trips were all made AFTER my normal workday... not waiting outside for the store to open with the gougers.
-
Try a Shield with the 8 rd mag yet?
-
Check out Underwood ammo. Believe you can buy direct from them. Also, my local academy has Remington UMC 10mm.

The 22 is out there, and for more reasonable prices now. It's not pre-panic, but Monday afternoon I got a brick of Federal for $25.xx out the door at Academy. Don't sell the gun. When you see a 50 round box under $4, buy it. I've watched folks sniff their nose at a 50rd box on the shelf at a good price only to complain about not seeing a brick. Buy the 50 when you can! Hold on. If you've waited this long to shoot 22, now is not the time to throw in the towel. That was 18 months ago.

They've had more Aguila than anything else the last couple months. There have been about 100 boxes of Colibri there for a couple weeks! One can usually get a couple of the yellow boxes of regular stuff every Monday Wednesday or Friday. This was the first time I've seen a brick available this laste in the day in awhile, however. -
Ever spend some time at the range, watch folks shoot, move, etc, and in your mind figure out who you could travel with, and who would only be useful to give yourself a little extra getaway time?

Wow. Was it new Starline brass? I would expect a little better QC from a boutique company like Buffalo Bore, but heck... I work in manufacturing of high end goods, and we have all kinds of stuff fall through the cracks. Nothing blows up and no one gets hurt if we make a mistake, though!

I make my own mini pizzas at home using hoagie rolls cut in half and Prego as the the sauce. Sargento off the block Mozzarella is the only way to go. A nice pepperoni, my homegrown sliced cayennes or cajun bell peppers and fine chopped cilantro. Deeeeeeeeee-lish!

Official TGO LG101 Pro Tech Buy in thread ORDERS NOW CLOSED

Mine has become my edc and sees quite a lot of use. I'd estimate 20-25 opens a day. Everything is tight and smooth so far. :-) Its finish is also holding up much better than I expected. Other than the idiot mark where it jumped out of my hand onto my tile kitche floor, it still looks brand new! -
CMMG...Why, oh, why did I listen to Outpost Armory?
musicman replied to E4 No More's topic in Long Guns
Just read through this thread. I'm glad CMMG fixed the issue for you on this rifle, as I am (as many others seem to be) contemplating purchasing some of their parts for a build. What I would like to know now is at which store orientalexpress works. There are quite a few around, and it would be a relief and a time-saver to just cross one off the list for future purchases. -
I play redneck golf. I have a buddy that works at a golf course, and he gave me a 5 gallon bucket full of ratty old golf balls. I take them out and shoot 'em. Pretty challenging at 10-15 yards with a pistol, just plain fun with rifles further out! Large, flat nosed bullets (44mag, etc) really send 'em flying when you hit 'em square on!!

I played with the ATR at Academy when shopping for my rifle. It wasn't quite as nice as the Marlin in terms of finish/smoothness, IMHO. I never shot it so I can't speak to accuracy. It WAS a little lighter, so that may be a plus for you. I played with most of the guns in that price range, except the Remmy 700/770. I decided not to buy a Remmy on principle... that 700 action has SO many horror stories, and it seems the stupid things are ALWAYS the subject of a recall. When members of the military simply laugh off misfires as "Remington Moments", I'll choose something else. I ended up narrowing it down to the Marlin or Savage, and it simply came down to whichever one I found in 270 first, and at a price I was comfortable with. I'm happy with my choice, but I think I'll probably get a Savage in another caliber to add to the pile sooner than later. ;-) Whatever you choose, I hope you enjoy it, and post pics when you get it!
