I'm excited about this one, too. I've been playing with the Godfather nonstop since yesterday, but for my style of carry it's just too big. It's light enough, just too big. It will remain a prize to be ogled and fondled from time to time. I think the Godson will be my future carry. No worries, though... me and the TGO Rockeye are fast friends and it's at home in my pocket! :-)

I don't remember the exact breakdowns, but I think I ended up with a full length quad rail upper without bcg for under $300. Magpul finished assembled complete lower I believe I paid $129 or close to it. I think I had the BCG from a prior order. Anywho... I don't remember each item, and those numbers may be a little off. I do, however, remember figuring the total for the rifle being just over $700. I had spec'ed it out months before and the build was going to be around $850 had I not gotten everything on sales. I know I can build the cheapest AR10 on PSA right now for about $650ish. I'm hoping to do it for $550.

No doubt this is true. I'm not really a fan of Ruger's products, though I have had a few in the past. However, I respect the company. All kinds of rifles except lever guns, nice double shotguns, revolvers and pistols of all types. Not too many companies out there that have solid offerings in so many categories, in mass production. It saddens me that S&W can't do the same, as I am a true Smith addict. The iBolt was a non-starter. I would love an M&P family of pump and auto shotguns to go with the rest of my M&Ps. They made shotguns years ago, wish they would do it again. As overall sales dwindle, companies that do not participate in some categories can find new growth in branching out to those other divisions. Of course, if they do it wrong (R51, iBolt, etc) results can be pretty disastrous and bleed red ink at a time when it cannot be afforded.

Haha! I get home before she does... she won't suspect a thing! Ha!

Post Photos of Your Bedside Home Defense Weapon(s)
musicman replied to JohnC's topic in General Chat
Depending on the season/carry rotation, usually 3 or more of these are within arm's reach of my bed. A few more within 2 steps. -
Precisely my plan. ;-) Possibly two of them. I want a lighter (cheeeeep) carbine to throw a red dot on and a nicer rifle to turn into a longer range shooter. And I want to get some better parts for my current ARs. And ammo. And mags. And .... and.... and.... I think you catch my drift. :-) And I don't care about names... I honestly don't feel there is a performance difference between a PTAC lower and a PSA lower. If they run PTAC AR10 lowers for like $70/ea, I may get 3 or 4!

I've waited up to 3 weeks for stuff from PSA. And I'm ready to do the same when they go nuts with the black Friday deals again this year! I'm literally saving my pennies as we speak, hahaha!

The "Beans" portion of "Beans, Bullets, and Bandaids"
musicman replied to Jamie Jackson's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Good info, guys! I'm just getting started on the "beans", have been working on the "band-aids" for a few months... and we always need more "bullets" right?!?! We're limited mostly by space right now, and then by budget, but we are slowly building a food stash. Target had canned veggies on sale yesterday for $.59/can, plus we had another 10% off via cartwheel, and another 5% via red card. Those will go well with the mountain of canned chicken and tuna we have. And yes, we practice FIFO to keep stuff in date. I need to figure out the best method for moisture and rodent proofing (yea right!) stores of beans and rice for us next. Keep up the posts! -
Official TGO Pro Tech Godfather Buy in thread SOLD OUT

Got my knife today and WOW! Love it!!! Huge... way huge! Bigger than I was expecting, and I dig it! Thanks Willis! I'll post up some pics later with its little brother. -
Coral?! Hot diggity! I never even thought of that as a media for scales! One of my other hobbies is saltwater reef tanks! I don't have one right now, but my last tank had over 70 species of live coral. Man... you're killin' me... over the years I've sold guns to buy guitars and vice versa... now you'll have me selling guitars and guns to buy knives! So tell me about the process to make coral into grips... obviously they are shaped and dyed... epoxied? Coral skeletons are hard, but very brittle. I'd be interested to hear about the process used to make them durable.

Too cool. What are the grip panels made of on that knife on the right? I recently got a new job where I have the opportunity to make some really good bonus money every now and then. I'm super excited about this Godfather coming in. I think I may also want a Godson to go with it. After I snag a few guns I really want with my play money, I may take part of a bonus and talk to ProTech about making something with some crazy nice flame maple scales. Maybe a blue or teal/aqua stain... I'm a guitar fanatic, and love highly figured maple. I want a knife to match the second guitar from the right in this pic: I know you've got tons of sweet knives... do you ever get any to match items from your other, maybe non-firearm related, hobbies?

Well, my next gun will be either an AR10 that I build, or my first 1911 - a Smith probably. Some others on my realistic dream list would be a nice CZ over under for shooting clays, maybe a Tikka in 30-06 or some other medium/warmer medium powered cartridge, a scoped 686 with 8 3/8" barrel, and Dan Wesson Commander Bobtail from a few years ago when they had the polished flats and bead blasted curves and not a lot of script, etc, on the side. In other news, I really want to get some of my guns worked on as much as I want to buy some new ones. I need to stop fooling around with $70-100 scopes and put some real glass on my 270, my nicer AR, and a 10/22 I want to trick out with some upgraded parts and trigger work. I want to Apex some of my M&Ps, and maybe scope my PC 629 44 mag. That's really the decision I am struggling with. I got some birthday money I'm sitting on... I'll be so pissed if PSA has some crazy black Friday deals on AR10 bits and I don't have any cash! I can buy one good gun, or trick out/customize 3 or 4 guns I already have into some things I've wanted for a long time. Ugh. Woe is me, Hahahahah!! :-D

Ok, maybe that was a bit more extreme than I really meant. Haha! Regardless, I'm excited about this new knife! -

YESSSSSSSSS!!!! -
Same question as the other: for what purpose? I've got ARs in 556, but I also really love my Marlin 1894 in 357. Pretty stout round when it's coming out of a rifle. Don't know what, in this continent, it wouldn't kill within 50 yards assuming proper shot placement. I hope to add a sister rifle in 44 mag soon.
-
Good point! I completely forgot about Morgan!
-
Ditto. I was hoping they'd have to sit through the agony of having watch each other turn one by one. Oh well!
-
Witness Elite. Built better than many $1,500 1911s for under $600 and no slide or frame issues. :)
-
I'm not a glock fan, so as I said earlier, I went EAA for my 10MM. That gun makes the round a pussycat to handle. My wife shoots the gun with no problems, and enjoys it! She's a thin hottie who doesn't like a lot of recoil, but she loves the EAA.
-
The 10MM CAN be hot, but most factory 10MM is pretty watered down these days... barely even 40+p, if you will. Look up Underwood ammo. I haven't had the chance to get any yet, but it seems to be pretty impressive stuff. Do some googling on 10MM ammo specs and you'll see what I'm talking about.
-
Haha! Missed it by THAT much!
-
Wrongle toggle switch and no washer, wrong tuning keys, wrong thickness neck pickup ring, wrong truss rod cover, wrong peghead face picture, wrong placement of toggle, a little bit mis-shapen body, not the proper grain and grade top, wrong case... probably some more if we had more pictures. It doesn't necessarily mean it can't be a good playing and good sounding guitar, but that's not a Gibson.
-
It's pretty, for sure! Pm inbound, as well.

And don't get me wrong, I hate that this happened, but 6 guys could only grab eleven guns? Only one of them a (terribly cheap) rifle? That's not even one gun for each hand! Ya know, assuming no missing limbs in the group. If I was going to go through all the trouble of stealing a new truck and driving over 3 hours away for a smash and grab, I'd at least bring a duffle bag to fill up... maybe even a nice man purse? Either they are so smart this is just a little part of a big plan we don't understand, or they are complete idiots that got away (so far) by sheer dumb luck. I hope the latter, and that they get caught soon.
