Yup. Kinda what I figured... Cabela's site was off and on all day yesterday, too. :/

Anybody else already logged in to Bud's, waiting for the prices to drop? Haha!

Haha! I completely understand this, but it does strike me a little funny that so many important, detail-specific professions use google searches as one of their main resources. :-D The interweb was just becoming available to people when I was in high school, and I remember some teachers wouldn't let us use web articles as sources for papers, saying the 'net was "unreliable and full of misinformation." (that, from one teacher's syllabus) I'm not doubting or questioning you at all, my mind just always makes stupid jokes/scenarios out of things. And have fun experimenting with the .357 cartridge! It's probably my favorite round to play with. Like you, I have a lever gun in 357, as well as a few revolvers. Jaysouth is absolutely right, a hot 357 out of a rifle is a LOT of fun! Folks are always amazed at the power generated out of that combo. Mix in some light 38s in the tube as well and get a feel for the dynamic potential of the caliber. I have to imagine a suppressed 357 lever rifle could be a LOT of fun! One could load really heavy 180-200gr bullets at subsonic velocities for lethal rusults with very little noise and not have to deal with any automatic cycling action noise, but still have capacity on in the gun for multiple targets. Hmmmmm.....

Winchester makes 296, which is also the same powder as Hodgdon H110. Google it; discussed ad nauseum all over the web. Great choice for 357 mag, as well as 2400, and to a lesser extent AA9. The beauty of 357 is the ability to load everything from a light 38 load (using bullseye, titegroup, AA2, HP38) to medium loads (bullseye again, maybe Unique) and then the hot stuff mentioned previously. You would be well served to spend 15-30 minutes googling and just read some of the info out there. There will be great answers to questions you didn't even know to ask. :-)

Thanks, Daniel. I/we appreciate your work, and offer condolences for you and your family and friends.

Couldn't agree more. The members here are the best folks on da erf... ya know... minus a few of you nutbags! ;-)

Ditto... mediocre CZ clones for $99?... Three, please. :-)

Anybody see the crazy deals on Magtech Guardian gold 45 acp and Hornady XTP 9mm for $9.99/box on PSA right now? They're not Gold Dots, but that's a smokin' deal on HP ammo.

They must still be using some prototype picures in their adverts as well as some pictures of production guns. Notice some have a traditional muzzle with the barrel slightly recessed while others have that curved barrel that matches the dust cover? They must have really rushed to get this out, as the marketing materials don't seem to match the product. Gibson does that all the time... make prototypes, advertising pictures and send them around the world, then make a few (sometimes substantial) changes and never update the materials.

As much as I dislike Taurus, and the fact that the gun is a non-starter for me, I appreciate all the thought and engineering that has gone into it. That's the first barrel I've ever seen like that. And who needs sights in a micro pocket pistol anyways? Like I said, I'll never buy one, but it definitely will be a gun with a purpose for many. Let's just hope it works. (R51)

I'm not a hunter (yet) but I am really enjoying all the posts and pics. I hope to be joining your ranks next year. There are no open hunter's safety courses until nearly March next year! I grew up in the city and had no close family or friends that hunted, so I'm kinda' trying to feel it out and figure out the how/when/where/why on my own. The sticky at the top of this subforum and everything you guys are talking about has really helped already. I've got the gun... a Marlin XL7 in 270, and plan on decking out in the rest of the gear when stuff goes on clearance after the season is over. ;-) Keep up the good posts! :-D

Nice!!! I love the stone washed blades!

Ya know, I watched that and thought "Wow, a roughly 8-10" balloon at 1000yds with a pistol! Awesome!" Then I realized that it was the splatter from the round hitting the steel plate lower and to the left of the balloon that popped. Still impressive to hit the plate at 1000 yds with a pistol? Absolutely. Could I do it that easily? No way. A little less impressive than shooting a balloon tied to a stick at 1000yds (with no steel to send splatter everywhere) um... yes.

You taunt me, Smith! I'm saving right now for a DPMS G2 24" Bull 308. I thought about building, but that gun is pretty much what I want, and it would cost way more to make it myself at this point. Can't wait! And yea, yours looks awesome! I know you'll be stoked to finish it up!

Um... this looks more like a predecessor, not a successor. I don't know what's up with both Springfield and S&W. I'm a huge M&P fan, currently own four. I was all excited when I heard a new Pro was coming out, as I love my current 5" Pro 40. I finally got to hold a new one a few weeks ago. VERY unimpressed. I think the stainless barrel is ugly, the milling on the slide, while executed fine, is just ugly/boring. The trigger wasn't any better than the stock trigger on my older Pro, or even my regular 40 full size. This looks like the same thing with Springfield. Disappointing. Some of the custom millwork on the guns out there look fantastic. I know that there are limitations in a production environment, but it can't be that much harder to make a couple pretty/cool cuts instead of ugly/dorky ones. I'm talking to you, oval cuts on the M&P Pro.

That sounds awesome. Seriously. I'm roughly 1k miles to the closest immediate family member, and it'll be another Thanksgiving this year that I won't be able to see any of them. I'm going to console myself by spending feverish hours refreshing PSA's site every 12 seconds hoping not to miss a stupid crazy deal, and maybe hit a gun shop or two to see what's up on Friday. :/

I didn't care at all about the two with the same number, but reading your idea, Willis, and HP's thoughts made these even more cool! I'm SO excited about this run!

DOUBLE SNAP! That seals it, two for me: one of each, both #15! These are shipping tomorrow, right? Hahaha!!!

You pretty much have it all figured out. The only other thing I can figure out is that some folks really enjoy building their rifles, and this allows them to control just a little more of the process.

Now these .223 prices I remember!

223 Rem... the new 22lr! Haha! -
Ok, where did the guy go with the 762x25 ammo and Tokarev go?
musicman replied to bersaguy's topic in General Chat
So is it terribly obvious I have way too much time on my hands? Haha! ;-)
