  1. Payment sent for my pair of #15s! Are they shipped yet?!?! Haha! :-D
  2. Gun 'N More in Smyrna has 3 or 4 of them on the wall, one of them in a hot pink spray graffiti pattern I think will really look good on you! :-D I've had an interest in them as well, but have never shot one yet. From handling them in the shop, they seem very well built, but unnecessarily heavy, imho. Heavier than my quadrail AR, heavier than my Marlin 1894C 357, but not as heavy as my Mosin or M&P10. For a pistol caliber gun, I see no need for the excess weight. It's all in the receiver, which is one solid and tough chunk of metal. I'm a little torn. For half the price there are the Keltecs which I feel are a little crude, and then for 1/3 the price are the HiPoints with terrible capacity restrictions, and for about the same price as the JRC you can now get the Beretta carbines and those 92 mags are everywhere and cheap, with lots of 30-32 rd options as well. I've been very close to buying the Beretta, but that stock drives me nuts... seems made just for tiny Italians with thin wrists. The space for your wrist to fit through stock behind the grip is so narrow I can't get the proper grip angle. That's the only thing keeping me from diving into Beretta world, because as surely as I got the carbine, 92s and 96s would follow! I'm still miffed that Smith doesn't just make a carbine on the M&P platform that streets around $600. Anyways, what I'm trying to say is, YOU go buy a JRC, I'll come shoot it, and then I'll decide if I think the heft is worth it. ;-)
  3. Good times, fellas! Great to see some old faces (take that how you will! Haha!) and new faces tonight. Look forward to the next meet!
  4. I'll be there in about 20 minutes. Big dude in a black TGO polo and tan pants.
  5. Another almost ditto here. I had about 5 $40-60 Kershaws, and a SOG Tanto Aegis before. I generally used to carry my tanto Kershaw Blur, with LG101 becoming my EDC since, but I'm 99.3784167% sure that Tanto Runt and I will soon become inseparable!
  6. This thread makes me sad. I want a big dog (preferably golden retriever or yellow lab) so bad it hurts. I've wanted one my whole life. Wifey will not allow a pet (besides our betta) in the house. :-( Beautiful animals, everyone. Keep it up, even though it hurts! :-)
  7. This. Expect any different and be ready for disappointment. Know that going in, and be stupid happy you got to build a sweet AR for under $400 and got crap loads of fancy defensive ammo for $10/box... in a few weeks. ;-)
  8. Love my Mossberg 930! I got the crazy 13rd version for right at 600, other models can be had for less. I'm super happy with it.
  9. Great info! Thanks very much, I'll hit them up this coming week. Sweet! I'll post up pics when I get it done. :-)
  10. Thanks! Do you know someone who can build the mailbox as well? Sounds like maybe you do them yourself. I'd love to pay a fellow forum member for the job if I can. :-)
  11. Getting new rotors as well :-) Have a bottle of the good orange brake quiet and a tub of premium grease, too. Rockauto will probably be my parts source for the job. I don't feel like paying AZ $80 each for $30 rotors just because it's a Volvo.
  12. My old wood post mailbox bit the dust the other day. I've always wanted a nice brick mailbox, and I have a little Christmas money set aside that I believe should fund it. I've gotten one estimate over the phone but would like to see if there's anyone on TGO whom I could support. Also, I have this idea about maybe getting a granite stone on each side with our house number carved in it. Anyone with experience having that done? Should I be calling tombstone and monument companies looking for the custom stone or is there another source you recommend?
  13. Thanks! I figured a Volvo manual would have it broken down as to what brakes came with what engine, but I guess it's not that easy. Thank you for looking it up for me.
  14. Yea, I got all the jive about grades of part, etc. I actually sold auto parts for a few years. I understand about the options affecting the parts as well. That is where I am. I haven't found any search tool that explains which options end in which sizes/spec of parts. My car comes with 4 motor options, I have the biggest. I'm hesitant to simply equate that to mean the biggest brakes, as that may not be the case. I'm asking here precisely to avoid the stink eye from the guy at the Volvo dealership. If I get no assistance, I'll go be "that guy" as necessary. ;-)
  15. 1: no 2: no 3: I don't know. I would guess that is only limited by the cunning wit of the prosecution. 4: no. Impossible to tell by external view if some nincompoop loaded 18gr of Titegroup instead of H110 in that 44 mag. 5: They shouldn't. Don't do it. 6: Mixed headstamps is your first clue. Extractor marks on the brass, and resizing leaves obvious markings on the brass. 7: Yes. Even a factory reload from Ultramax. It blew up my AR. I wasn't seriously injured, but bruised and thankful that was all. 8: See 7. 9: For handgun brass the number of times fired means nothing to me. Either it looks good or it's split/unusable. 10: If someone is not knowledgeable about reloads, I would recommend they not try to save the $3/box, put their big boy pants on, and buy the factory ammo. :-)
  16. I'm trying to figure out which brake system (and more specifically, which front rotors and pads) my 08 Volvo S80 V8 has. I've done lookups at all the chains (AZ, Advance, etc) and all give me different options, none narrowing down exactly what I need. What I'm looking for is someone who has access to a dealer search tool that can plug in my vin and tell me what I have. Rockauto, FCPeuro, and the others give me the same multiple options as the chain stores. It's an 08, so that was when Ford owned them... wondering if someone at a Ford shop would have access to this info, too, and not just a Volvo dealer. Thanks in advance.
  17. It wasn't in my gun and I wasn't pulling the trigger, but I watched a good friend and forum member have lots of problems with their 9mm fmj in his Glock 17. My reloads worked fine, WWB worked fine, and brassmax worked fine. I hesitate to post a negative experience as I have met one of the guys who makes the stuff (when we got it, at a gun show, right before going to OK Corral where the malfs occurred) and he was super nice, and I have to believe this was just a bad batch. I've heard many other first hand accounts of 100% function with their ammo, and I love a local veteran owned business. However, experience was asked for; experience shared.
  18. Still cool with me.
  19. Wifey and I have our 14th "date-aversary" coming up next week. We'll be going to the Standard. :-) Looking forward to it!
  20. "A little more local" is a relative idea. It would be great if there were a few of these going on around the state! It has been done in the past.

    My piece(s)

Cool beans! Was the grip tape a kit, or did you cut and fit it all yourself?
  22. Haha! Yea, me too Mike. Except the Godfather part... I love that thing, but the only things that gets cut when I play with that one is ME! Haha! Seriously, I must just be an idiot. That long blade and pointy tip get me every time! I used it to cut open some packaging the other day and poked two fingers, one of them bled for a couple minutes! I'm a knucklehead. I'll keep the Godfather as a showpiece and that's about it. I'm not man enough to use the thing properly or safely, I guess! But yea, I can't wait for my tanto Runt... getting both, but I love tanto blades more. The guitar nut in me hopes I get some cool figuring in the scales. :-)
  23. Word. It's been a ling time since I've been to a TGO meetup. Looking forward to it! I don't know if I could keep up with a weekly meet, but maybe monthly or so.
  24. Yup, less flaky, more psychedelic spiderman. Cool!
  25. Cool beenz! Can't wait to see it, and I can't wait to be the proud owner of a couple TGO Runts! :-)
