I sure am glad I stocked up on these back before the last scare. I'm sittin' on a gold mine!

Some people? Sure. Hundreds? Quite possibly. The thousands required to recoup millions in new machinery and traning a workforce? Probably not. But I fully agree with your second statement. :-)

This. I'm gunna start saying that 12g buckshot is going to be banned. I have a metric crapload of that stuff, and I really want a new Mustang.

"Everything mechanical breaks eventually"... my Glock 19 did.

Wowzers. That's a new one for me! Wonder when that happened, and how many rounds it fired without a hitch in that condition. Cool that it stayed together. Looks like it still had about 70% coverage around the guide rod/spring. Steve Hennessey, tuner of perfomance cars, says if you aren't breaking them, you aren't trying hard enough. That's after his 1,000 HP Viper caught on fire as a car mag was reviewing it against some other exotics. Haha! -
I've been happy with the Monarch branded stuff in every caliber EXCEPT .270 Win. In both my Marlin XL7 and a Remington 7400 I had, it patterned more than grouped at 100 yds. I'm not a great shot, usually getting around 1-2.25" 5 shot groups with cheap Federal and Remington SP rounds. I couldn't bring them any tighter than about 2.5" with the Monarch. I burned through the 3 boxes I had and just won't bother with it in that caliber any more. I can still find Federal 150gr SP at Wally for $14.74/box, $1.25 cheaper than the Monarch at Academy. I'll continue to stock up on that until the price goes up. When it eventually does, I hope to have about a lifetime (or 3) supply of the stuff anyway. I can't imagine I'd really need another bullet for anything I'd use a 270 to do.

Another big Ahrends fan here. I've got three different sets and love them all, especially the little combat grips on my 2" 64.

That's a really good point.

Who cares if it's weird or impractical... if I had millions of dollars (as many do, but I don't) I'd have one!

Waiting for Dolomite to see this........

What pistols would you add to this collection?(Light topic, for fun only)

Please give the Shield a good look if a little gun is a possibility. I really do feel it's the best shooting/handling piece out of all the pocket pistols. Quite often one forgets that it's such a small gun at the range. It shoots just like a full size. Real sights, the best trigger of the M&P lineup (besides the Pro) and phenomenally understated recoil make it a real overachiever. -
Just finished episode 3. Stopping for the night. I gotta say it's nice being able to just use the navigation to skip through the really trashy stuff. Makes the show much more enjoyable. :-)

Watching s3 e1 right now. :)

Ditto this, exactly!

Great. They have 40% off with code "save40". Bye bye, $70. XD

Mrparacord.com And if you're not too picky about color, they often have clearance sales with some 100ft options for under $5ea. Reasonable/often free shipping, and every month or two I get an email with a 5 to 20% off coupon good for that day or weekend. Whenever I get one of those emails, I peruse the site. About half the time I end up buying $25-40 of stuff and getting a box full of paracord. I figure it never hurts to have plenty on hand! Both my cars have some in the trunk, and another loop in each go-bag.

Hm. Now I'm curious. Can you tell us what Federal ammo it was, exactly? I've had nothing but great results from every offering of theirs I've tried. It's probably my favorite of the big 3 ammo companies. (Win, Rem, Fed) And as long it was stored in a stable, dry environment 2 years shouldn't even be a factor. I'd guess 75% of my factory ammo is already more than 2 years old. Some of it is older than my Dad. All goes bang and where I want it. :-)

I thought about that, too. I have four and love 'em! I feel that they are the best of the plastic fantastics. Though I greatly prefer it over all others, he already has the Taurus Tupperware. For that reason I also would not go Glock... he already has that category covered. I am totally with the folks pushing the 38/357 revolver platform. Either Smith or Ruger, they are both great choices. The awesome flexibility of the 38/357 ammo choice cannot be understated. Short of a .22, you won't find a lighter recoiling target round than some 148gr HBWCs over a little Bullseye. Hot 125gr JHPs are a hoot over a case full of H110/W296 or 2400! You can use the same pistol to introduce a gun-shy newbie to the sport, or impress your buddies with firepower. Can't do that with a wundernine! :-D -

For trigger finesse it's the Smiths over the Rugers all day long. Smiths are generally pretty good/great right out of the box. The Rugers are OK and can be worked on to be pretty darn good, but in general just can't match a nice Smith trigger. If you've got $1,000+ burning a hole in your pocket, go Colt. I've had 4 Smith 38/357s, all used, and all excellent triggers. My one GP100 was bought brand new, and was... acceptable trigger-wise. In single-action it still had some movement and one hitch of grit before release. I didn't know that wasn't the norm until my first Smith 19. It's like the first time you saw something in Hi-Def... makes the same thing you been using for years suddenly not that great anymore. The first time I needed cash, the GP found a new home. I still have that Smith. -

Great, great advice here. I prefer a Smith 19 or 686, but the GP is a great option, and I've had all three but I still have the 19. I'll get another 686 first, and THEN the GP. The Ruger is a total tank, and will handle some nuclear handloads. I simply prefer the slightly more refined (and to my eyes, beautiful) Smith offerings. I would suggest taking the time to find a nice pre-lock model. There's nothing like shooting a fine, full-size revolver in single-action. -
I'm more inclined to believe this one, unless there's some crazy twist rate on the rossi that's only good for hot stuff or a certain bullet. I know, not likely, but that's a major deal with longer range rifles, etc. I don't know to what measurable effect that could be seen with a pistol and the typically shorter distances. The only time I've ever experienced anything weird with a pistol load is Xtreme's 158gr plated 38s. Those suckers keyholed out of two different pistols at both 38 and 357 velocities. I still use Xtreme bullets in other calibers, but me and their .358s just aren't gunna get together any more. :-)

I don't have a measured way to answer this, so... uh... here ya go. Witness Elite Match 10MM Trigger Pull and Reset: http://youtu.be/zfxnHxdkbFQ Also, it's nice to see how bad I am at keeping my trigger finger tight and close on the reset, I let the trigger move way too far forward than it needed to be. Also, I'm sorry I didn't take more time on showing the takeup. Anyways, I hope that helps answer your question! :-)

They seem to fluctuate depending on caliber and availability at Bud's. A check today shows the 9mm out of stock, and the other calibers between $567 and $592. A shop in Smyrna does my transfers for $15+$10 TICS... gets me within a box of ammo to $600 ;-) 'Course, sounds like I'm the only Witness Elite fan, so I'll politely retreat to the weirdo cave where I normally stay. :-D

I love my EAA Witness Elite Match. Mine is a 10MM, but they are available in 9, 40, 45, and 38 super as well. It's their version of a CZ 75 and it's pretty flippin sweet. You can find them for around $600 OTD. It's one of many great options out there. Have fun in your search. That's half the fun, anyways!

And there it is. That is THE tire for trucks, period. Plus, with the white lettering out they just look right on that truck. My Dad has bought a new Chevy truck every three years. They usually come with Goodyears or something on them. He has the same ritual every time. Buy truck. Drive to Shell station across street and use voucher from dealership to fill gas tank, then drive directly to Tire Kingdom (in Miami, FL, we don't have them here) where the factory tires are replaced with Michelin LTX M/S tires. He works construction and is always abusing the trucks and driving through terrible worksites, often towing ridiculous things as necessary. Once, when our pull truck broke down he had to tow the pull truck... and the two story historic home it was towing down A1A in Ft Lauderdale another half mile to its destination. He did the drive in reverse, as he wanted the tow hooks to share the burden. The transmission got a little warm, but that's about it. A testament to that bulletproof 350 and the rest of the package that is the Chevy Tahoe. This was in the late 90s, so it was probably a 95 or a 97 short wheelbase, 2 door Tahoe. I can't remember when they quit making that configuration. Sorry... way too much info... I get misty eyed thinking about Dad's work trucks and his love for Michelin!
