13) Parking at LP field was completely full by 12:15, so fat lot of good that did us. We went straight up McGavock I think it was, about 3 blocks and parked for $11. 14) Bring a bookbag. 15) Get your free gun cleaning mat at the Hogue booth. 16) Stop by the Xtreme bullets booth for some free samples of plated bullets. Don't need or want any? Grab me a baggie of .40 165gr please. If I get enough of you to do that I won't have to buy any more this year! 17) Play with the cool airgun setup at the CMC booth, then buy a sweet drop-in trigger for $130. That's below dealer cost pretty much anywhere.

NRA 2015 Annual Meetings and Exhibits, Nashville TN

I was there with w0lfattack from 1-6pm. I was rockin' a TGO polo. Though I at least 6 other folks that were there at the same time, we never bumed into anyone. It was just that busy! Lots of good stuff. I got some CMC drop in 3.5lb triggers for $130ea! Can't wait to drop them in the M&P10 and an ar15. I shared a concern about a holster for my Shield with the folks at Safariland. They had the same holster and a dummy Shield on hand, and saw exactly what I was talking about. The boss or whoever grabbed a better model off the wall, saw that it fit properly, and handed it to me. I told him I didn't have the old one with me to give him. He told me not to worry about it, and apologized for the bad product. He said he just wanted me to be happy. Well.... success!! lots of free swag... make sure to get your free gun cleaning mat from the Hogue booth. I bought some anodized ar mags from the C-products guys; a blue one for me and a pink one for wifey. They're flimsy as all c-products mags are, but they look cool! I found the rails I want for my 10 and 15. UTG has some really nice stuff now. Can't really believe I'm saying that. Their super slim keymod will go on the 15, and I don't remember the name of the one I want for the 10, but I'll get it. If you're on the fence about going to the show, GO! Short of Tulsa, you'll never be around this much gun stuff again! -
I knew that looked familiar!

Lol! This thread reminds me of talking to my Mom. Half the time you think she's making a joke when she really doesn't have a clue, and the other half of the time she's five steps ahead and the joke's on you! Regardless, keep it up to both the modern-day literate folks as well as the left-behind and clueless! ;-)

I imagine they fancy themselves to be today's minutemen. While the idea is nifty, I just don't see how it gets played out in today's world without getting outright killed by some gubmint agency or at least imprisoned before any real effect can be had. Of course, I'm sure they would say that is the mindset of "the sheep." Heck, I'm sure everyone partaking in this forum is under more surveillance than your average islamowhackjob recruiting for the cause in Detroit or Minneapolis.

Yea, I really want a bobtail badly, but for sentimental reasons it'll be a DW when I finally DO get it, but that's kind of a grail gun for me. When I finally fork over nearly $800 for the Smith I showed above, it'll be the most I've ever spent on a handgun. :-( I'm not quite ready to add another $600-$700 the price tag. And I love the Smith scales for the slide serrations! :-D

Depending on how the bonusing goes at work I hope to have it by the fall. I've done tons of research and looked at the Phillipine guns as well as the Sig, Ruger, Springfield, Kimber, Para, and Remington models. I've shot kodels from all the brands but Remington. It seems that moving up a couple hundred dollars from the bottom wrung generally provides a better/more crisp trigger and generally more refined slide to frame fit and smoothness. One surprise on the low end was a super sweet Metro Arms Classic a friend had; great crisp trigger with almost no creep incredibly smooth action. One huge disappointment was a Kimber Custom II with a terrible, gritty trigger with two little stops/jutters before breaking. Money and brand aren't everything, but I feel the chances of getting a nicer example generally increases with cost and reputation. Of course, check it out closely before filling out that 4473. ;-) I'm an admitted Smithaholic so that's a huge portion of it, but it's also EASILY the most beautiful 1911 under $1k, imho. If I could double my money I'd look into a Dan Wesson bobtail.

Park a block or three away at any of about 30 parking lots for $5-10. The further you walk the cheaper it gets. The rape... er... parking garage at MCC is not the only place to park.

My developing knife 'philosophy' and recent purchases
musicman replied to JAB's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Every purchasing decision comes down to two things, imho: available funds (more broadly, general income bracket and what a person's affordability range is for a given class of items) and how much value you put into refinement, tactile sensation... generally how keen you are on paying for a better experience with an item. Bic ball point pens can be had for cheap to free all day every day. Some people choose to spend $1 or so each on a nicer rollerball (I fall into this camp) while others love and will pay over $100 for a Waterman or Parker instrument. All of them will perform the same task, and most folks will never know what pen was used once a document is completed. Same with Fiat vs Ferrari (oddly enough, the same company... for now.) It all comes down to what you can afford first, and then how willing you are to pay for perceived value second. The Protechs for me are worth the additional cost as I enjoy using and carrying them. I have made decisions not to purchase other things (opportunity foregone) to be able to spend disproportionately more on a few knives than my generally median income should allow. We all make those choices every day. Ever chosen a nice prime cut steak over a hamburger? :-) On another note: sadly, my LG101 was not hiding in the couch. :-( -
Yup, Mike and Tricky nailed it. I've never been to an NRA show, but have been to a couple NAMM shows and I'm pretty sure I'll never have to buy another guitar pick for the rest of my life!

My developing knife 'philosophy' and recent purchases
musicman replied to JAB's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Thanks. Me too! This morning I asked wifey if she's seen it around. She asked if I checked the couch. Duh! I haven't, but we're out of town right now. As soon as I get home, that's the first thing I'll check! I'm usually pretty good at holding on to my knives. I only carry 4 things in my pockets: phone, keys, knife, and wallet. Each has their specific place and I am constantly taking "pocket inventory" throughout the day. When I take a knife out to use it, I use it and immediately close it and put it back. Even if I'm performing a few tasks in a row, I rarely ever set a knife down. I close it and put it away, then pull it back out when I need it again. :/ And if I can't find it, I may be calling you about a TR3. Looks similar but maybe a little more sleek? Definitely something I'm interested in. I'll be at SMKW in a few weeks and will fondle them there so I can figure out if I'd prefer it to the LG. Heck, even if I FIND the thhing I'll still probably be talking to you about a TR3 in a month or so. ;-) -
Price tag says "Benton Shooters." I'm not familiar with the place, but after seeing that picture I'm sure I never will be!

My developing knife 'philosophy' and recent purchases

Kershaw was my favorite brand for awhile, until this goofball named Willis68 forced me into buying all these sweet Protech knives. :/ I too started with some of the $10-20 flippers, had the Crown, Cryo, and half a dozen others. Then I got the nicer Leek, Scallion, and another I can't remember at the moment. I really liked those, except that they are SO thin they can be hard to manipulate, and I felt they were a little delicate. I found a smokin' deal on factory seconds on Amazon, and got this Blur tanto for $27. I think they used to be around $50-60. That was my main carry until my father-in-law gifted me with a SOG Tanto Aegis on a visit to Smoky Mountain knifeworks. That was cool at first, but soon the blade became wobbly, and I actually broke the tip of the blade diggin a bullet out of a bowling pin. I still have that knife, but it sits in my tool chest for messy jobs I don't want to ruin something else doing. I went back to the Blur after retiring the SOG. Then the Protechs happened. The LG101 became my EDC and is still my favorite all-round knife. Tough, excellent weighting, and super comfy to use. That spot for you trigger finger is placed jjjuuuuusssstt right! Very sadly, I have not been able to find it for the last 10 days or so. I keep telling myself it will turn up, but that sick feeling that it's gone forever is creeping in. I'm really sad that I may not ever see it again. It's such a great design I'll definitely buy another if it doesn't reappear in awhile, but it will never be my original TGO #15. :-( Keep on experimenting and trying out new blades! It's tons of fun, and when you become a ridiculous hoarder/prepper like I'm beginning to be, you'll have a good blade or two for every bug-out bag or bucket in your house/car! My EDC now is my TGO Runt two-tone. Love that booger, but it's so pretty I have a tough time pressing it into some uses still. If I found my LG101 tomorrow, it would go right back to its EDC role. -
Nothing but good experiences here. A few hundred 9mm with no problems, and I've gone through 3 of 5 boxes of their new 10mm 180gr XTP loads without a hitch. Wifey actually likes shooting this particular load in our EAA Witness Elite 10MM. This, from a woman who hated guns when we met!
-
Pffff.... tell me about it! Sunday I got two more cases of Perfecta (9 and 308) at WalMart just because it was there. Wifey just rolled her eyes.

Check out regulations in LaVergne just to be sure. I don't think chickens are allowed. :-(

What time will you be playing, and what instrument? I'm planning on getting off work at 11, at the show by noon. -
Marquis Men.... imagine they're made up of a bunch of soul/rock crossover musicians led by a dude named Mark. They could be Marquis Mark and the Funky Bunch!

I used to shop Kroger regularly, but ever since they remodeled and put in all the fancy-pants prepared and specialty foods, their prices have gone way up. Makes it hard not to shop at Publix. I grew up in Miami, Fl, and Publix is "home" to me. Wifey loves our Target store... we've bought everything from our big TV, glasses, and groceries there as well as some minor furniture and clothing. Though similar in offering, it's miles from the WalMart experience. I can't change where the Boss wants to shop, but I'm much more likely to hit Kroger for my small shopping visits throughout the week after news like this.

Lol! Yes, I shot 3 boxes of 9 and a box of 40 yesterday. It was crap! So much so, that I stopped at Walmart in Smyrna and bought another case each of 9 and 308 to see if another production batch might be better. We'll see.
-
You're welcome, lol! I got the last 6 boxes at that location today. Then I got 3 boxes of 40 and 2 more boxes of 9 at the Murfreesboro rd store in Antioch.

That sucks. Sorry brochacho. :-(

Keep looking. New stuff is hitting the stores every day.
