  1. I can't remember off the top of my head the charge weights, but I like AA5 and AA7 in .40. With 5, I have two weights with a 165gr bullet, a lighter plinker and a slightly warmer version which is just about factory performance. That ine works better on steel. The light stuff is fine for paper but not so great with heavier poppers.
  2. Have you visited The Hermitage in... uh... Hermitage yet? The Belle Meade Mansion and plantation is nice as well. Down in Murfreesboro is the Stones River Battlefield and a little museum. That one was free, I believe. These aren't necessarily weekend expeditions, but you could easily spend most of a day at The Hermitage, and the others I mentioned are good for at least a few hours. I moved to TN in 2001 for college, and got married and settled in Rutherford county. Just in the last couple years wifey and I have tried to find the smaller, local historic sites and it's been a lot of fun! I'm sure Williamson county has a lot to offer as well. Enjoy!
  3. Yup. I had a single shot 410 for about a month. I got it brand new for $70 + t/t. When I realized ammo was 3x more expensive than 12g, I sold it for $90 at the next gun show! I will say it was a fun lil' popper, but for the ammo cost I'd much rather be blasting away with a 12 or 20. Enjoy your scattergun!:-)

    HK VP40

I reaffirm my original statements. Though I'm a massive gun nut, I don't read gun mags. I have no idea what the writers are being paid to sell. TGO is the only gun forum I read. At various ranges and gun shops, I've met more people in the last year who have personally gotten into 10MM and like it than ever before. How many manufacturers even make a 41 Mag these days?

I disagree. As noted just above, 10MM is really gaining traction again. I got one last fall and LOVE the round. For realoders who already have a 40 it's a no-brainer. 41 didn't have a popular sister caliber to share components with, whereas 10MM does. I'm seeing 10MM on more and more store shelves. It's a great balance of power in a high capacity double stack. I'm hoping to see more options in the next couple years. EAA makes one on pretty much all their frames now (poor choice for the smaller frames, but whatever) RIA has started making them in all kinds of configurations, and Glock just made a flippin' huge one. 10MM is as alive and well now as it ever was... maybe more so, I believe. :-) I plan on adding at least one more in the next year or so. I'd REALLY love to see an affordable 10MM carbine. That would be just awesome! I'd be excited what kind of power 10MM gained in a 16" barrel, like 357 mag. Sorry, that's probably a bit off topic... I'm on lunch break with time on my hands, and I just shot my Witness Elite 10MM yesterday, so I'm still all jazzed up about it, haha!
  6. Yup. I got an M&P10 last year. Love that thing!
  7. #15, 2 tone blade. If commissions kick butt over the next few months, I'll get the other as well.
  8. Sweet! I also like the lead time on this. Thanks!
  9. Oh. Haha! I hear ya. I'd poop my shorts for one, myself. Literally. I can afford new shorts and underwear right now... even socks if necessary, but not a 610.
  10. Wow. Absolutely beautiful! I especially like that Trailblazer! Sheesh... can't believe I didn't know about that place... I was just down there last week!
  11. Good choice on those Ahrends grips! ;) I have them on a few Smiths, eventually I plan to have them on all of them!
  12. Haha! Nice! 16lbs of HP38 makes a LOT of 45! Enjoy. :-)
  13. Thanks for the opinions fellas. I'm just not ready to give in to twitter yet. I was a heavy wazer a few years ago but dumped it for some reason or another... guess I'm going back to being a baby wazer this weekend. :/
  14. You're not the only one. I love wheelies too. However, I do have a couple more semis than wheelies, but still no Glocks. I respect them as reliable tools, but just prefer others.
  15. So I've been using Weatherbug for years as a weather app with a nicely integrated traffic map. I checked it a few times every morning as I'm getting ready to see the traffic patterns develop and adjust my route accordingly. Good old I24. This week they dropped the traffic function. :/ What do you guys use? I've looked at a couple in the app store but would like to hear from some local people. Thanks!
  16. Ditto all of the above. Not much to add, really. :)
  17. I want both, but probably TR4 first. I never did locate my Rockeye, so I need a replacement for it. :-(
  18. Ditto. Bought a regular M&P 9 barrel used from a forum member and threw it in my M&P40. Heck, it even worked with the 40 mags if I kept it under around 10-11rds in the mags at a time. Any more than that and it would have feeding problems. I eventually got a 9 mag and it's been flawless since.
  19. Stand tall! You're right! :-D
  20. And Mossberg shotguns. You can get JM signature models from both companies.
  21. COULD and WOULD are two similar but slightly different ideas. I agree, HP.
  22. Just to add another voice, yea I'll trust my life with my reloads if necessary. It's all a crap-shoot anyway (pun intended) If I've made the decision to pull the trigger to defend myself or loved ones, I'll use whatever I have avaliable. I happen to generally have a 40 with Federal HSTs or a 9 with Federal FTXs on hand and prefer that to my fmj/plated range ammo, but even that would hopefully beat screaming for help and soiling myself to show an agressor how determined I am to stay alive. Heck, in an agressor situation I'd use anything around to save my life, whether I knew the source or not. That all being said, I prefer factory ammo with the small thought of legal repercussions in the back of my mind. Also, I rarely buy fancy bullets for reloading and prefer to take advantage of the whiz-bang technology in modern HP ammo for carry. I figure my fine motor skills will already be crap at that point so I want as much in my favor as possible.
  23. I watched this and other awesome 1k yard shots, and I fully believe JM is the bomb-diggity. However, I just want to point out that in most of those videos, he hits the STEEL PLATE, usually about 2'x3', to which the balloons are attached... not necessarily The balloon itself. The splatter is generally what pops the balloon. I'm not trying to downplay how awesome a 1kyd shot with a 9mm is, or a shoulder fired .50 in under 3 seconds to target at 1k yds, but simply pointing out that detail. And yes, I'm in the camp that believes someone trained with a certain pistol can probably hit a pie plate, and maybe even a clay pigeon, at 100yds with some regularity.
