  1. Dumb question, but if you've already narrowed to a 20g Rem or Mossy, do you need a huge selection? Or will a basic 500 or 870 not cut it? I just got an 870 Express in 12g at Academy today. I also have a 500 special purpose (8rd capacity) and have had a Maverick 88. Just fyi, Remington has a $25 MIR going on through the end of the year, if that helps tip the scales for you. ;-) Call me crazy, but I like the idea of the shortest barrel I can get and even a youth stocked 20g for an HD gun. I entertained the idea of going that route, but I already have so much 12g ammo, and will primarily be using this gun for dove hunts this weekend and next. Just some thoughts. Sadly, you generally will not find as broad of a selection of 20g configurations as you would for 12g. Whatever you decide, have fun!
  2. Academy in Smyrna has had 22 for about a nickel a round for 3 days straight. Still have some American Eagle 40 rd boxes for $2.19. I scored a brick of Federal Auto match yesterday for $17.99/325rds at 5pm. Get those 22 out of the mothballs and have fun!

    Glock

I like those M&P scales on top! ;-)
  4. The way I load, the die previous to the fcd sets the crimp. The fcd is simply a QC step, really.
  5. I don't use it either, but just wanted to say thanks for sharing important safety-related info. Thanks for sharing important safety-related info! :-D
  6. Bingo! I've found wide variations in brass thickness for 38 and 357 cases across the manufacturers. Couple that with some possibly oversized bullets and whammo... ammo that's too fat. I run the FCD on everything now. 97% of the time, the die barely even touches the case. Every now and then, though, you run one through and it's obvious that case may have had a bad time trying to chamber in a tight gun.
  7. I shoot a lot of the ZQI 308 in my M&P10 and it's all been great. The bullets (projectiles) are beautiful... I know it sounds stupid, but they really do look great. It almost looks like they're machined copper. I've seen a lot of 308 with funky looking points, either smashed or just not a nice conical tip. I have to imagine that the nose of the bullet being out of shape would impact its flight path. I've not seen too much fmj more precise than the ZQI.
  8. Meh. Imho, an average adult with firearms familiarity and no severe handicap should pretty much be able to shoot anything within reason. Go getcha sumthin bigger and have fun! Btw, my first gun was a 40, and I had fired precisely one round out of a shotgun 10 years prior. I had never held a handgun in my life until I bought it. No biggie.
  9. I've got a Shield and 5 mags, 3 8s and 2 7s. All seat and work fine with no muss or fuss. Don't know if Smith might be nice enough to just send you another 7 rd mag. That would be cheaper for them than shipping the gun both ways.
  10. Pics!!!
  11. Well, I don't know about "seasoned and experienced" eyes... mine just suck and I'm 32. But I really like the Steyrs. I have shot a few but don't have one of my own (yet.) Great pointing and comfy gun, and I liked the triangle sights, but I don't know if they're really "better" or not than traditional 3 dots.
  12. Ouch. Truth of the day, right there.
  13. It seems quite a few people don't understand that TGO is not the Mid Tn Firearms Sell and Trade facebook page. :/
  14. I respect that. I've thought about it from that angle and was about to search for it, but just decided against it.
  15. I have not watched the video. First, I'm a pansy. Second, I don't watch want to posthumously give that sack of ¥=&÷&@€×¥=*#&$¥$*!&^^^×&€$&$(#(%*%₩",-;/-&*#,!; $£$*#&#£#*÷*!&!&#*/*/*#*"*#*!&×^!^#*# what he wanted in having the whole world see him killing people. Wifey and I have been praying for the families and friends left behind.
  16. Weird maybe PTAC is a better choice for cheap stuff than the PSA branded stuff? I've had two PTAC complete uppers (sold one, still have the other) and I pretty much ONLY fed/feed them cheap steel... Monarch, Tula, Wolf. Not a single hitch. Now my buddy's Colt... wouldn't cycle 3 rds of steel in a row without choking. :/
  17. Kick tail!!! Nothin' like a good firing every now and then to improve your situation, haha! Super news!
  18. I got my setup at the Reloader's Bench in Mt Juliet. Those guys took the time in the store to answer all my questions, and walk me through setup, etc.
  19. All of that... yes! That die can get downright toasty. I noticed that my cases stayed cooler when I had a lot of car polish in my media to help slick up the cases. They run through very smoothly! If I dicount processing/brass prep (I prime by hand while watching TV) and just count the the time spent turning primed brass into shootable ammo it's around 150-175 rds an hour for most calibers. 9 take me longer cuz they're so tiny. 40/10 and 44 are quick! The only problem with 44 is that I have to fill the hopper so often, lol!
  20. Love my Lee turret. One day I'll get a Dillon but until then, ol' Red will just keep cranking them out at about 80rds an hour, including processing time. Great choice for a beginner and intermediate level hobbyist.
  21. I have one with over 3k rds through it. Not one single problem, and just a nice as anything else under a grand, imho. If I didn't have other purchases upcoming I'd be all over this. Get it, shoot it, love it.
  22. Ok, so I'm bored on my lunch break and just read through this whole thread. I see the last update from MrsMonkey was 6/4. I've got to assume the permit arrived shortly thereafter... no update on the Wally Walk?!
  23. Haha! 2" barrel, 14" suppressor. Makes sense to me! :-D
  24. I know Academy in Smyrna has two offerings of Hornady XTP in 45 colt, and I think a 50rd box of winchester cowboy stuff.
  25. Ditto above. I would only expect maybe 20-30% of the retail prices you have there. I have a couple old Fossils I plan to use as long range targets the next time I take my M&P10 out for some fun. (Much older than yours... like 15 years old... which was nearly my age when I bought them)
