  1. Ditto all the advice for AA7 and AA9. Super awesome powders for 10MM. For volume loading I use AA7 as it's much more economical and gets me about 90% of the power AA9 will get me, depending on the bullet chosen. http://www.accuratepowder.com/load-data/
  2. From what I've noticed the dove loads are generally 1 and 1/8th oz of shot, whereas many target loads are 1oz. That's not true across the board, but often.

Yep, 6.7l turbodiesel. I dunno if any Jeep is worth $70k, but that F250 sure is. It's fun driving a 100mph mountain!
  5. Alright so I know nobody cares, but I just wanted to follow up with the report I promised. First, they are LIGHTNING fast shippers! I ordered this stuff Friday, and it was on my porch today! Wow! The bipod: meh. It came with all adapters for pretty much any type of attachment, which was nice. It's a little nicer than some of the absolute junkiest ones I've seen at some gun shows, but it's no Harris. Fine enough for my occasional use junk gun, but I'll put a nicer piece on my varmint gun (more on that in a minute.) The cantilever scope mount: Great... if you wanted a 30mm rig. What arrived was a great 30mm mount with little plastic ring adapters. I contemplated not even using it, but I really wanted to slide the scope on my M&P10 forward, so I slapped it on. It feels pretty solid. Two screws to mount the thing on the rifle, and each ring has 3 screws on each side. Also, the tops of the rails have rail sections, so if one wanted to mount something on top of the scope, this allows that. I'll never use it, but whatevs. If it holds zero over 100 rds I'll probably leave it on, as I like the position of the scope. Feels great now. Rail: perfect for a knockaround. Heck, maybe it'll even be fine for a nicer rifle, but if this were coming from PSA or the like it would definitely be a blem. Directly out of the box there were some handling marks already, and a few legit finish imperfections/blemishes. Some of the machining is poorly finished as well. I think it's plenty tough and will perform it's function perfectly, but if you like nice things, this isn't the rail for you. I'm still happy with my purchases, but this build is now going to be a strictly budget, lightweight, knockaround rifle.

My in laws are in Hawaii for a week and a half, and I have my father-in-law's truck... a 2016 F250 Super Duty King Ranch 4x4. Just about every option on the thing... I checked the window sticker tucked away in the glove box (he got it 3 weeks ago) and it's a hair over $70k. And it is SUHHH-WEEEEEET! Crazy fast for being such a big brute, and such an easy driver. I never was a truck guy, but that might be changing! I'm really gunna hate giving that thing back next week. :/
  7. Lol!!! Pretty close! This may be done by Thanksgiving, maybe not. I keep changing my mind on what I want. It'll really depend on how I feel about this rail. I'm tempted to just turn it into another budget build, but I really want a varmint gun, too. Aaauuuuggggghhhh!!! Oh well... I'll still have 4 more lowers after I build this one out.
  8. A few things... first, congrats! Though I'm a Shield fan, the G43 is also a great choice. Second, though it's a sad commentary on society, it's a good thing that you have taken seriously the personal responsibility of EDC. Third, great picture!
  9. Aight Kevin, I bit the credit card and bought some stuff from Omega. I got a slim 12" keymod rail, 6-9" bipod, cantilever 1" scope mount, and an endcap that I hope will fit a rail I already have. I wanted a ton more, but stopped there so if it's crap, I'm not out a bunch of money. Well... I won't be out any money cuz if it's garbage I'll just send the statement to you, haha! But seriously, I'll post up with my impressions of the company and their gear when it arrives. I won't be building another rifle just yet, but I've got the recivers on hand already and am just piecing it together. I really just needed the mount now, but shipping is a flat rate $7.99, so I couldn't just get one thing, lol! I'm curious to find out if a one piece mount under $100 can be any good. Gunna put it between my M&P10 and Vortex Crossfire II. I have just rings on there now, and it's just thhhaaaattt much too close for my desired shooting position. Another 1/4" would be enough, but I'm all the way forward right now. Anywho.... it's lunch break and I'm bored. Y'all have a great day! :-D
  10. Lol! Ok, I won't mention the 2 boxes of Aguila Supersumthin'fiestaarríba I got at 8pm tonight for $3.99ea since they were finally out of CCI SV. :-)
  11. Cool! I dunno... I'm pretty sure they'll shoot fine as long as they were kept dry for the last 30 years or whatever, but it's kinda cool lookin'. I have a few boxes of ammo from the 50's, 60's, and 70's that family or church members have given me over the years. If I HAD to shoot them, I would. However, I have uh... lots... of modern ammo for pretty much every caliber I shoot and will continue to use that first. I have no pretense that the old stuff I have has any real fiscal value, but I like the old boxes and bullet styles. Also, some of it is sentimental. I have 3 boxes of 30-06, 38 special, and 12g that all came from a great friend who passed away a couple years ago. I'm sure it means nothing to anyone but me.
  12. Shotgunshooter is actually the first person I've heard with complaints against the Federal ammo. On the other hand, I don't know a shooter who HASN'T had trouble with the bulk Winchester stuff. I have a feeling both boxes should work out great for you. I'm a sucker for anything blue in color, so that's mostly why I love the Rio stuff :-D
  13. Sorry to hear, but glad there was no injury involved! I'm having a fabulous dinner with wifey... chicken patty sandwiches, lol! This is our first lazy night at home for awhile, and we're catching up on some shows on the DVR. Gunna throw some laundry in the wash in a bit.
  14. Not gunna lie, those TrAAckers are cool! Seems the tracker is a bit behind the rest of your load, but still a cool training tool for seeing where your misses went. For the ones you hit, it's fun to watch the clay burst and then see that little wad zing through the dust cloud!
  15. Lots of Remington heavy dove #6 at my local Academy. Was on sale for $5.99/box last month when I got a few flats... I think it's back up a dollar to regular price now.
  16. Just ordered brakes and rotors all around for Wifey's car from rockauto. Best price by almost $200 (getting nice stuff, slotted rotors, etc) and fast shipping. This will be my 3rd purchase from them. Order Tuesday just before midnight, should arrive Friday, per FedEx tracking. I used to work at Autozone but have no real loyalty for parts. It's nice to have a brick and mortar store in case the part fails or doesn't fit though, I will say that.
  17. I'll look into that. I know they had that big explosion at the McEwen facility a year or two ago, guess I haven't heard much about the rebuilding. The last box I bought a couple months ago said McEwen still, but who knows how long that stuff was sitting in a DC somewhere, and then in a store's back room before going onto a shelf. :/
  18. My local Wallys have 100rd Federal packs for 21.97- $24.97 depending on the store, and it is flawless in every guns I've tried it in, to include 3 autos, a couple doubles, and at least a dozen pumps. Like you, I've sworn off the cheap Winchester stuff due to sticking in the chamber, etc. And not just in autos has it caused me frustration. I've missed more than a few 2nd clay pigeons because instead of a quick rack'n shoot like normal, I've had to take an extra second to manhandle the gun to get that sticky case out. My favorite target shell is Rio's cheap stuff. Beautiful blue case, brass base, 100% function. I usually pay $5.49/box, and have a huge pile of the stuff. The TN connection with them is nice, too. Academy has their Monarch dove loads on sale for $4.99/box, and so far it's been fine for me but I've only run it in a 930 auto, an 870, and an old Ithaca pump so far. That's the best deal I can think of. I believe the day of $3/box 12g is long gone. I'm still sitting on 4 flats I bought at Academy in Cool Springs when it was on sale for $2.38/box years ago. I may be through that in another year. I still buy shells like crazy though, because in a few more years when we'll be complaining about $10/box range shells, I'll just be caught up to the stuff I paid $5 for, lol!
  19. x1000 Some things aren't worth cheaping out on. A carry gun ain't one, imho. Smith makes 6 shot snubbies. I have a 2" model 64. Thing is awesome! ... just realized, I don't know if that's still a production model for them.
  20. Find me a case of $200 Korths and I'll buy the whole thing, lol!
  21. I swung by Academy at 4:25 today and got two more boxes of CCI SV for $3.49/ea. It's less than 1 mile from my house, so as long as I'm not in a rush, I stop in on the way home from work.
  22. Ditto Thanks for that video link! I had read the stock was flimsy, but holy crap I didn't expect that bad! I might just order the stock at the same time and change it out before I even sight in the gun. :/ Edit to add: Found it! https://www.boydsgunstocks.com/ProductDetail/434121y1c116_rimfire-varmint-thumbhole-savage-mkii-bull-barrel-channel-stock-sky-finished
  23. Smyrna Academy gets ammo on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Today I got two boxes of CCI standard velocity for $3.49/box. Pretty much normal price, imho. There were still about 50 boxes when I left and easily 300 more boxes of different types of Aguila and Remington ammo for $3.99/box and up. This is the day AFTER being put out for sale. Who knows what they'll get tomorrow.
  24. Awesomesauce. Good to hear! What's the next one going to be?
  25. Very nice! I don't have one yet, but am becoming a Savage fan based on all the first hand accounts like yours I've read. I'm wanting to start small, however, with this: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/mobile/product/71899/savage_mkiifvsr_22lr_threaded_bbl I imagine that thing with a can and some subsonics would be a hoot!
