Kinda diggin' that Barnes Tac stuff. Looks amazing in each caliber. Super disappointed in the Remington HTP stuff. I had been carrying a mix of Hornady Critical Duty or Critical Defense in 9 or 40, but I wasn't so impressed with the results for them. Especially in 40. Awesome compilation of data!

Diggity! You da man! Can't wait for this one! I have decided this will replace my Kershaw Blur as my EDC. My LG101 filled that role until its tragic disappearance. I contemplated carrying the Godfather, but it's simply too awesome. That... and I always seem to poke a few holes in the opposite hand whenever I use it. :/ It remains a dress/showoff knife for nice occasions. The Runts are awesome, but I find myself going back to the Kershaw Blur for EDC for its size and comfort under heavier use. The TR4 will be my workhorse, and I can't wait!

Just saw this is already in the zombie forum. Feel free to delete.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/report-man-dies-aboard-aer-lingus-flight-after-biting-passenger/ar-AAfB3PA?li=BBgzzfc Soon we'll have walkers everywhere! Make sure you've got a couple good blades on you and watch your back! I recommend staying away from places run by creepy one-eyed mayors and any refuge whose name means "the end."

I'm sorry to hear that, Ben. Love and prayers to you and your family.

Always good to connect with members in person. Thanks for setting it up!

Yikes! Sorry about the accident, but it sounds like you're OK, I hope! Wifey and I are leaving the house now. :-)

Just sayin, ARs can be had around $500 now. Maybe a little less if you try hard enough. Some argue acceptable for deer around 100yds or a little more. Accessories are dirt cheap right now, too. If you were thinking of possible 7.62x39 for possible HD scenario, then penetrating multiple walls in obviously not a concern, so .223/5.56 is still ok. As for the possible deer hunting, I feel comfortable in saying that in general you will probably find noticeably greater accuracy potential with the AR platform than the SKS. My 2 cents :-)

coolest and functional custom pocket holster

That only come on the XD mod2 holsters ;-) -
As of July 1st last year I believe there is no such thing as a blade restriction, of and kind, in TN any more. More experienced members will correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure. :-)

IWB holster with zero (or adjustable to zero) cant?
musicman replied to Steelharp's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I use the Bianchi 100 with my Shield. It sounds like your tagua, but even thought the leather does collapse a little when empty, it's not hard to reholster. I absolutely love it, and it's completely vertical. -

Got a brick of 325rd federal automatch at Academy today. They have upped their limit to 500 rds a day now. Yesterday they had Federal 50 rds blue boxes for $2.29 each. I grabbed 10. That's $22.90 for 500 rounds, just under that magic 5 cents per round barrier. I go every day I can. Just wish wifey would go with me. :/ Mind you, again, I work from 7am to 4pm, so whatever I get is left over from the morning. Who knows what other goodies I lose out on to the neckbeards. -
Payment sent! I was a bad boy and just couldn't wait to finish another AR, so I'm just sticking to the one, two-tone blade instead of getting one of each this time. Thanks!

Recoil Spring Assembly S&W Shield
musicman replied to Jamie Jackson's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Cool beans! I'm always happy to hear about people receiving great customer service, especially when it's from my favorite brand! ;-) And everything you said about the Shield is true! Love mine. Got it used, and since I've had it it's eaten probably 1,500-1,750 rds, conservatively. Only time it even choked was on some really underpowered reloads I made when first trying out a new powder last year. I rock mine in a Bianchi model 100 and couldn't be happier. :-) Maybe an email to S&W is in order. ;-)- 1 reply

Academy has a big selection of different types of wood for smoking, both larger pieces and chips, all nicely packed for travel. Swing by one of those on your way out of town and go wild!

Academy in Smyrna still had about 20 500rd bricks of Remington thunderbolts at 9pm today for $24.99. I assume they didn't sell them all in their last hour, so there will still be more tomorrow. -
Thanks for responding! Wow, those are some scary experiences! I definitely understand where you're coming from, and I like your distinction between safety and feature. Great points.
-
I'm not asking to disagree or anything, but I'm curious as to your desire for lack of an external safety but WANTING a mag disconnect. Would you mind sharing your feelings/reasoning on that issue? Usually I hear folks want both a safety and disconnect, or neither. Personally I don't want either. I want to be in control of the weapon and it go boom when I pull the trigger. For purposes of dropping the mag to take the gun out of the fight in a close physical tussle... well... let's just say if it gets that bad I'm most likely going to be dead anyway, regardless of whether they will take and shoot me with my own gun. I'm interested to hear your ideas. Thanks!
-
Backwards. If the gun is equipped with a magazine disconnect safety, the gun will not fire WITHOUT a magazine in it. Optional on most M&Ps, and removable, I believe. I have one gun with it, and 3 without. I prefer without. Sometimes I want to pop off a single round. With a mag disconnect you have to throw an empty mag in. (Ever see that one last hot round as you're about to leave the range?) Some may argue it makes dry fire practice easier if you are working on trigger control, or "breaking in" a trigger by dry firing while watching TV, etc, if you don't have to fool with a mag as well. I personally haven't broken a trigger that way, but have heard of folks doing that, and I will say my full size M&P, which is my oldest and has been shot the most, has an excellent trigger now, much better than when it was new, but not that it was bad to start with. All of my M&Ps are stock, but my full size is the one, that when someone who is familiar with M&Ps shoots it, they always ask "what did you do to this trigger? It's great!"

Beautiful! Congrats!

Ozark Ordnance 300 BLK...anyone used this stuff??
musicman replied to WarPig's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Lol! No worries. 1 MOA is very technically not 1" at 100 yards, but for all intents and purposes (read: bubbas like me who never served, and will most likely never shoot anything other than a 6" round sticker at 200yds) 1" at 100yds suffices for 1 MOA, and you just extrapolate up and down from there based on yardage. Best of luck with your hunt for inexpensive 300 BO... and all these flippin' threads are probably gunna have me building one sooner or later. :P -
Now THAT is what I'd want for choppin' skulls in a zombie apocalypse!
-
My advice? Yea... get one, haha! But seriously, though I'm a huge M&P fan, I admith the trigger feel is all over the place... every gun is different. From what I understand they have become a little more consistent/better recently. However, my oldest M&P is about 4 yrs old, and my newest is about 2 yrs old. All of mine happen to have pretty crisp, clean triggers. Oddly enough, my Pro has a little grit on takeup, but the cleanest break and best reset of the bunch. None of mine have external safeties. Happy Shootin'!

You didn't complain last time! :-D
