I like the idea of the Heirloom gun. I wish I had something like that in my family, but I'm the first gun guy in about 120 years in my family, and I don't and won't have kids so that kinda' puts a damper on things. Anywho, when I think heirloom I think classic, and for me that's wheelgunz. I know the 1911 is 104 years old, but it's just not the same to me. Like others, I prefer Smiths and think that really any nice P&R 357 would be my #1 choice. It's a gun that shoots two calibers that will NEVER go away, and is the most versatile in terms of performance, imho. Given unlimited funds I'd find a Colt. However, I understand the love of Rugers well and the GP100 will last forever.

That's a trip! I love these stories. :-) But what I reall want to know... how many of those doors got shot?! :-o

Don't believe there are any "auto-rebates." I would just swing back by and ask. There's probably a note pad with tear-off rebate forms in a drawer somewhere there and they just forgot to give you one, OR there is a special website to visit which would be specific to that rebate campaign.

I heard some noise that they had adopted a more "Shield-like" trigger, but I dunno. All of my M&Ps are older than my Shield. :/ However, if that's true, then awesome! My Shield has a great trigger.

I used to shoot out on a buddies' land, on the edge of some woods behind his house. They didn't have trash pickup, etc... just a big ol' burn pile and then a compost heap. From time to time I'd grab either an old piece of fruit or some other piece of trash to shoot up.... cans and whatever. One day I was out there with my Mossberg Maverick just havin' a good ol' time. I went to the compost pile and found a huge yellow onion. Sucker musta' been 1.5lbs or more. It had some mold on it and was gettin' mushy on one side. I had been having fun putting little holes in stuff, but this - this big onion - I wanted to vaporize it! I set it on a log about 1.5 feet off the ground. I chambered a shell (just basic birdshot) and put the barrel about 1/8th of an inch off the skin of that onion and squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezed the trigger. BOOM! There was no more onion. There was now only an onion puree... everywhere... on everything within about 20 feet of where the onion used to reside. Sadly, that is where I was. Standing, stupidly, at onionpocalypse ground zero. I did not invite myself into their home after that shooting session. And I have not shot an onion since!

No worries... now getcha 10 mo' boxes!

See my previous post. :-) There are TWO (2) separate promotions right now. $10 back on 10 boxes of Golden Sabers, and $10 back on 10 boxes of Ultimate Defense ammo in the green and shiny silver boxes. Two separate forms with different promotional codes. 2x10 = 20 boxes of happiness. :-) They were out of 9mm GS. I got GS in 357 and 38+p, the Ultimate Defense in 9 and 40.
-
Finally had some time to place an order... got 20 boxes of 9, 40, 38, and 357 for net cost of about $87. That's just a screamin' deal I couldn't pass up.
-
Note: the Golden Sabre deal and the Ultimate Defense are separate promos. ;-)

Beautimous! Is that the 20" YHM diamond fluted barrel? If so, what twist? I am strongly considering that for a future build. I would really like to hear how it shoots. Thing looks great! Congrats! -

Haha! None taken. :-) Actually, it's kinda of an interesting backstory. He's my best friend, and has been since 2nd grade. He grew up in a Democrat household and remains the same, and is generally anti-gun. He's still down in Miami, while I moved to TN almost 15 years ago. Anyway, I was back home this past spring and had brought some toys with me, as my Dad likes to shoot a bit but only has one gun. (My parents have always been conservatives but we just didn't grow up with guns. Not anti- just neutral, until I got my first one almost 10 years ago) I invited him (my best friend) to shoot some clays while I was down, and he had a great time. Now he's talked about "maybe" getting a shotgun "later" someday. He's finally getting married, but doesn't really need any of the stuff that most newlyweds do, like house furnishings, money, etc. He is a civil engineer and his fiance does well herself, and he already has a house. Gunna get that boy a gun!

Haha! That's awesome! I love CC rewards... just last month I got $50 in gift cards to Academy and a $68 statement credit on another one. I've probably got another $50 in Academy cards coming this month as well. I'm planning on getting my buddy a Mossberg Maverick 88 12g as his wedding present/first gun next month. Just buying normal stuff with these 2 cards is basically paying for it for me. Not too shabby! Anywho, hope all your ammo shows up soon. Range report required on a test for the Underwood vs Freedom 10mm!

You probably already know this, but there are at least two versions of rhino ramps, one rated for cars and another for trucks. I use mine for both so I got the truck version. I can't imagine them folding up under anything less than a Mack!

So wait til next week, and buy two!

Honestly, with 45 I wouldn’t worry about chamber support. It runs at literally about half the pressure of 9 and 40, and the case is generally thicker anyways, with a lot of support at the base of the case. I don't know that I've ever heard of a 45 KB under normal circumstances, and I doubt that a smidge more support would do anything if you royally screwed up enough to blow up a 45. Imho, buy more boolits with that money, not another barrel. :-)

Whew! Glad you're ok! I've gone to ramps myself for oil changes and have been happy. Of course, when doing brakes I still have to do the jack and stands dance. My Dad always used/uses the method Randall described.
