Yea, the horsey is a bit hokey. Regardless, I just saddled one up to that upper I got from you, Kyle. Worked great! They're a close enough color match that it doesn't bug me at all.

Just FYI, the Savage Axis, which I feel is on par with the Ruger, can be had for around $300 with a basic 3-9x scope mounted and ready to go in .308 and a handful of other calibers. Savage also has a $50 mail in rebate on the gun. Phenomenal value. For another $150 or so you can get the Savage Trophy Hunter with a Nikon scope already mounted. The Trophy Hunter gets you a little tighter build and Accutrigger. Sorry. Just a Savage fan! A lot of folks to .270 and .243 in TN. Seems to be working well for them. Sadly, I don't have first hand experience on deer. I have a .308 and a .270.

Word! Did you go to the one on Hamilton Church? I was in there last night and perused the ammo but didn't make a purchase. Did you see the price on that Perfect 357? $16/box! If I didn't roll my own I woulda jumped on that!

I've had PSA, Stag, and Anderson cheapy lowers. My favorite has been the Anderson. I got a smattering of the enclosed trigger guard models awhile back and love them. Smooth, flat black finish that has held up well. The only thing I've noticed is VERY tight takedown pin holes, but I don't think that's a bad thing, really. Parts are arriving today to finish another build and I don't think I could find a better forged lower if I tried. Of course, the CMT billet TGO pieces are works of art, but that's not exactly what I choose to use for a budget/trunk gun!

For regular ol' buckshot.... WalMart. Usually have Remmy 15 packs for like $12. Otherwise it's generally $1/rd everywhere else. Watch online shops like PSA, etc. Often you can find it under $3/box. Around this time last year PSA was running 25rd boxes of Estate 12g 00 for $6.99/ea. I've run through a few boxes so far without a hitch in a 930, 500, Ithaca 37, and 870. I still have a pile of it left, but if I saw that deal again I'd definitely get more. Sometimes you'll also find 25rd boxes of 12g 00 at Wall or Academy around the $12-15 mark.

M&P guys I have a question with a picture

Word. I was gunna look anyway, but wifey had a bad day at work so we went out to eat, and I've spent the last 4 hours putting up a Christmas tree and then lights outside the house. I'm going to bed! -
PM and I'll send you my address. We just built new shelving in the garage and haven't had time to reorganize everything yet, and I've got brass prepped for you to load about 8k rounds of 38, 357, 9, 40, 10, and 44. On a turret. That oughtta keep you busy! :-D Edited to add: And there's about 20 guns that haven't been deep cleaned in a year or more. I'll have a gallon of Hoppe's and a box of patches waiting on you. Snacks in the pantry, and all the water you can drink! ;-)

Just had a chance to look at this. I have a few M&Ps, and I never noticed this on any of them, but I'm also not super detail oriented... if it still goes boom and doesn't looked like I grabbed it out a coal bucket I don't pay it much attention. I'll look at 'em tonight and report back. -
Dunno. Just got a Sparc a bit ago and I like the multi-height mounting system it comes with. I wanted a small dot and like the 2MOA size. I have put it on a few rifles just to look at it and check things out, but I haven't had a chance to use it in live fire yet. Hopefully I'll get a chance this weekend. Got another build I hope to finish out when the final parts arrive tomorrow. I've looked long and hard at a lot of the PA stuff. Great variety of options with them, and great pricing! I've ordered lots of parts from them, but none of their optics yet. Most reviews seem to be positive. I'm just a Vortex junkie. :-) Someday I'll probably try one PA's low magnification red dots. My eyes suck.

Anyone else worried about attacks during Star Wars premier?
musicman replied to glowdotGlock's topic in General Chat
Yup. I just don't care that much any more. I saw Jurassic World at the theater about a month after it came out, and that was my first movie in about a year. I mainly went because the original Jurassic Park (movie and book) were a huge part of my early teen years. I despise giving up so much money for a movie. I don't have any problem with crowds... in fact, I love being in large groups. I am a highly social dude, but I can't stand theater crowds. Sit down, shut up, and don't be an idiot. Those three commands are invariably just too much for a special few in every screening. I can get my neighbor kids to come over ruin TV time for free, I don't need to go somewhere else at $15/pop for that garbage. -
Lol! Do you reload? If I had any spare time right now and the rain was keeping me at bay, that's what I'd do. Between church and 60-65 hr work weeks, I only notice the rain while I'm driving from place to place!

There's always someone selling stripped lowers ftf as well. Both off the books and more likely to be in spec and of higher quality. It's too late for me anyway, da gubmint already knows I got more than a couple pieces. :/

Glad to hear you're happy, and smokin deal!

Wifey and I got a cheapie a couple years back and it's still runnin' strong. (haha! ... nevermind) It was on a stupid great sale at Academy. It's a Proform CST 505, and I'm pretty sure we paid $239.99 for it. Like I said, stupid cheap. Anywho, she's a lightweight and I'm over 300lbs (slightly less over 300 than I was a year ago) and the machine doesn't struggle at all to get rolling under my fat behind. It's definitely not the most quiet machine, and it's narrower than the nicer ones but neither of us have fallen off the sucker. We have it in the den and the narrow width is a good thing for our smaller home. It folds up and out of the way a bit for when we have company, etc. The best feature is the excellent and supportive arm bars... for hanging my pants and shirt when I come home every day. ;-) We could have spent more, and maybe in 2-3 years we might. However if we were buying another one today, I'd make the same exact choice.

I do! Wifey and I Christmas shop all year. We usually have 75% of it done by August. It's super awesome when you realize it's about December 20th and you've only got maybe 1 or 2 folks to still find a gift. The "mad rush" becomes a relaxed trip to Lowe's or wherever and sets us back maybe $50. Love it! :-)

Doh. Nevermind. Just realized this is done for the year.
-
Is this $5/shot? I haven't been to a turkey shoot in years, and I think wifey might actually enjoy it! She doesn't, however, enjoy 12g and that's all I have. Do you have a light kicking .410 loaner?

I loved my P22. Sold it years ago as I needed the money. Last year about this time I was ready to buy another 22 semi. Decided to go with the SR22 as the reviews were great. Bought it brand new. Over 2 months, 7 or 8 kinds of ammo, and probably right about 600 rds, I still could not get through a mag without a failure or two. Also, I was less than impressed with the finishing/machining inside as well. Sold it after I decided I had enough with that experiment. This is something that seems to be trait of Ruger semis, from looking at a friend's SR45, and two different SR9s. I know that crummy machining and rough/sharp edges inside a slide and ther various interior bits have zero to do with function and reliability (as long as not in critical areas) but I just don't like it. I don't like my cleaning patches getting hung up everywhere and shredding when getting into nooks and crannies. I don't like scratching my fingers in there either. (Looking at you, SR22!) Hoppe's #9 burns, lol! Sure, they're cheap (SR series in general) and I know a lot of folks that swear by them. Cool. They express their opinions of satisfaction, and I express my dissenting opinion. I have made the personal decision to purchase other weapons. I would still get a GP100 or single action from Ruger in a heartbeat, or even a P series, but I'm done with the SR series.

Haha! I love the reactions. :-) What you see is what a crazy sense of humor and a complete lack of pride can do to a man, haha! The story take place in an old gold mining town's saloon, and I'm going to be playing a grizzled old miner who is a small part of the story, but also the narrator. I get that some folks are too high-brow to enjoy a little tongue-in-cheek goofiness and will scoff at this kind of thing. That's cool. Plenty of other folks are just crazy enough to laugh at it too, and maybe show up to take in another twist on how Jesus' birth at Christmas was not only a great event in its time, but a story of personal salvation for anyone who will accept Him. :-)

Having been in the reloading/remanufactured vs new factory ammo game for awhile, I knew what I was buying when I bought FM 10MM. (Hornady doesn't manufacture any 50rd boxes of pistol ammo is a big tell.) I only purchase new, not reman as well. I went through 500 of the XTP loaded FM 10MM and it was all fine. Also, it was all loaded in Starline brass which is great stuff for reloading. I'm a happy camper and won't hesitate to get more in the future. My 10MMs throw brass REALLY far (even with 23 lb recoil springs) so I always lose a lot at the range. At an indoor range, I'd say 25-30% ends up forward of the firing line so I lose that. At an outdoor range, I probably lose even more. I'm not gunna spend an hour combing grass for brass after 10 minutes of shooting. I pick up what I easily see and cut my losses.

Haha! Be a good son and go track down the one I had to sell for a song in 2008 when times were hard and give it back to me. When I pass I'll will it to you. ;-)
