So, is there going to be any 556/.223 to be had tomorrow?
musicman replied to K191145's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Bingo. This ain't gunna be over next January. As has been my normal process... if I see something I can use at a reasonable price and I have the money - I buy it. I'll always be able to more ammo cans. -

https://www.botach.com/e-lander-ar15-m4-30rd-steel-magazines/ I know a lot of folks don't like/trust Botach. That's fine. I've made multiple orders, saved a ton, and always gotten first quality product in a reasonable amount of time. If you don't like them, don't click the link. :-) As for the mags, these are Israeli E-Landers mags. I have a bunch and love them. They are akin to GI mags, but made of steel. They utilize super smooth tilt-free followers. They're heavier and STUPID tough! If you like the flex and rebound of poly mags, you'll HATE these! I bought 5 more of these around black friday when Makodefense.com had them for around $14 ea and free shipping. Prior to that I had paid almost $19 for them. I couldn't pass up this deal and ordered another drawer full. I know Bummer's gun control push seems to have no teeth and is not an attack on mag limits, etc. That never stopped panic buying before. Regardless of his Oscar performance today, I'd still have bought these. But... I'm not gunna lie... I feel even better about my purchase since his talk. Btw, they ship free with no minimum so even if you just want to try one, they'll send one right to your door for under $10. If you haven't used one of these before, I really recommend it. I like to leave mags loaded, and have problems with some various poly mags popping rounds every now and then. Not so with these monsters!

Thanks for the honest, hands on review! I look forward to hearing a few more (non-sponsored, ahem... gun mags) reviews from fellow TGOers.

And at $75, those BCGs are a really good deal, imho. Grab ya a few of each!

The PSA stuff is fine. I also like the Anderson lowers, and got a handful of their enclosed trigger guard models for stoopid cheep awhile ago. I like not having to screw with installing the stupid trigger guard, and I like the look of the built in guard. Anywho, you're right... lowers are pretty much lowers. I'd say, with all of the stupidity Obuttwad is pushing through, find whatever you think is the best deal and buy as many as you can afford. As cheap as they are today, you'll never lose your money. Buying more reduces the per item effect of the BG check, and see if your FFL might cut you a deal on multiple serials on the same transfer. I have a few left right now, and just wish I had bought more when I made my last purchase.

Looks interesting! Curious as to street pricing and size comparo.

My very first rifle didn't have an ejector pin in the BCG. It was a fancy single shot until the manufacturer sent me a replacement. Best of luck getting it straightened out!

Why don't ALL sight manufacturers understand this??
musicman replied to Steelharp's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
That is something that has always bugged me. Those look like a great design. I've read bits and pieces about those pistols... with this they are now firmly on my radar. I'm not an early adopter these days, though. I'll most likely wait until I try someone else's out at a range some day to make a decision. -
Haha! You better catch up! Lol! But seriously, I bought the second one for wifey as she finally got her HCP and she loved my Shield. Well... she wasn't takin' my little buddy away from me, so I had to buy a second! It's just another regular (non PC) Shield, but I gotta say, Smith has made the trigger even better since I got mine a couple years ago. I thought mine was good, but hers is even better! Very nice takeup, and it stacks just right and then... pop! Super clean break. Both of mine were 100% right away, both with cheap ammo and my reloads, as well as all the different HP ammo I've tried so far to include factory XTP ammo, Critical Defense, HSTs, Hydrashocks, Golden Sabers, Gold Dots... um.... others I'm sure, too.

M&P 40s in 5" Pro, 4.25" Full size, and a Compact, I think it's a 3 or 3.5". I think the round is adequate. It's what I bought for my very first gun, so that's what I built my collection around at first. Since I've also gotten into 10MM it's been easy since I had everything I need on hand because I already loaded 40. However, if I were starting a collection all over again with what I know today, I'd probably just go 9 for the most part. The increased capacity and lower price of ammo is nice and I don't feel that 9 is deficient vs 40, like I did 10 years ago. My EDC is a Shield 9. I don't think I'll ever get rid of my 40s, but I doubt I'm going to buy more. I will, however, probably get a boatload more 9s, and hopefully my first 1911 (in 45 of course) this year.

Ditto! There are a few on the way to my house now. ;-)
-
Get it. Or, if you like your Springfield and want to spend around $100 more than you would on a Shield, get an XDs. Both great choices. I have 2 Shields and love 'em.

Yup! You can pretty much say that about any of their stuff. Matt Smith is awesome. Have you heard their funny one, Wynter Fever? https://youtu.be/5jwHLsKsiCA The riffage when it gets to the part where Santa gets out the hair dryer is probably one the most head bangin' riffs ever recorded, haha!

Another Theocracy fan!!! So stoked! They have become one of my top 5 bands. Awesome writing.

New 2016 Tennessee Laws That Go In Effect 1/1/2016
musicman replied to runco's topic in General Chat
This is completely dependent upon who makes the test and what is contained in it. Sadly, I believe it will most likely have serious statist/socialist content designed to further indoctrinate the youth of this nation into a willing slavery to government for "our own good." -
This will finally be the year of the 1911 for me, probably a Smith. I'm sure I'll build another AR or 3. I also have this crazy idea to buy 3 or 4 Smith SD9s so I have the same cheap, reliable pistol for all my car/truck and BOB guns. Dunno if I'll actually carry that one out or not. I'd also like to get a Sig 2022 in 9 and a Beretta M9A1. A Mossberg Maverick 18.5" pump (I think they call it the Defender.) will most likely find it's way to a hiding spot in the TV room for HD purposes. If the right deal comes along, I'm always up for a pre-lock S&W... would love to get a 6" 686 or 586 this year. Lastly, a Henry or Marlin 44 mag. I'll probably only end up with about 2/3 of this by the end of the year, but that's aight. I may sacrifice a gun purchase or three and get a Dillon to make more gun food faster.

New 2016 Tennessee Laws That Go In Effect 1/1/2016

Hm. #15 has me curious. I like the sound of anything that may curtail traffic tickets! ;-) However, red light cameras aren't my problem... it's those annoying speed limits! -
Yea, I know about skunkworks putting together an entry for the army pistol... I'm just afraid it'll be all weird due to the army's demands. I want a nice target pistol (or 5) now. I have defense guns covered, but they generally aren't the best range toys. I want range toys. Currently my EAA Witness Elite Match 10MM is my #1 toy. Thing is a freakin laser beam and makes me, an average shooter, look like a rock star. Entire magazines in a ragged hole at 15 yards make me happy! I can get close to that with some of my other guns, but it just isn't the same. I want a new Smith that I can do that with. Sorry, thread drift! Back to the ported Shield! Um. It's a Shield. Buy it, everyone! :-)
-
Full disclosure: I'm a huge S&W fanboy. (Shocker!) I have most flavors of M&Ps and 2 Shields already. This porting and stuff isn't enough to make me buy another. As many have stated, the Shield is already a super soft shooting pistol. I took two first timers shooting last night. Both will be getting Shields soon. Recoil was a non-issue for either him or her. For folks who haven't already gotten a Shield this may pull a few more buyers off the fence. However, for folks who already have them I don't see that much of a difference to merit another purchase. It's like if the next major redesign of your favorite sports car was to add a spoiler and different wiper blades. Not enough to make it worth a switch. Ruger just released another striker gun. IMHO it's terrible looking and doesn't seem to offer anything new, but at least they did something altogether new and different. I'm wondering when Smith is going to do something substantially new, vs just offering an ugly carbon fiber frame or porting. :/ The world has enough plastic guns at this point, I'd love to see them do a fully modern steel frame gun of some sort again. I'd pay double plastic gun price for something really nice. Heck. Just re-release the 5906 with some minor refreshing and I'd be on board, lol!
-
Eye of the beholder and all, Steelharp, lol! The pics Ruger put out still look just as butt ugly as the other pics to me, haha! I don't get all the "innovation" hype on this. What's new? Not a thing is mentioned. What is the "recoil reducing barrel cam?" Isn't it just a regular ol' barrel? Doesn't look like a Beretta rotating job. No trigger pull required for take down. That's good. I wonder if they have a little pin to move like the M&P or something else. If the money is the same as the SR, I'd take the SR over this thing any day based on looks alone. And I really don't like the SRs. Ah well.

I have a question for everyone.

Dude. Awesome. Discussing this with wifey tonight. -
Lol! Well I got it for a smokin' deal, so you're gunna get a CRAZY good deal!!! Well, at least I'll still be able to buy a collection of them there super fancy HiPoints! Thanks so much for your generous offer, and for saving me from that terrible .308 which has been flawless and super accurate! I don't know what I'd do without you! But you do bring up some great points I never even thought about. Do any PDs use SR striker guns? Come to think of it, I've NEVER seen an SR at an IDPA match. (of course, I've only been to 4) I usually see about an even split of Glocks and M&Ps making the bulk of competition guns, I'd guess 2/3 altogether, the other 3rd being a mix of all kinds of stuff. Food for thought.
