    AR Lowers

Matching upper and lower are only important if you are trying to make sure they look the same, imho. Different mfgrs have different shades of gray/luster to their finishes. I don't give a crap, and none of my builds have matching uppers and lowers. All of them work and fit perfectly. I had/have Anderson, PSA, Stag, Doublestar, PTAC by PSA, and CMT parts. I'm happy with all of them. The only thing that's a must for me now is enclosed trigger guards. I hate installing that stupid thing. That, and I like the look of the bigger integral guard.
  2. As you start to reload, you may notice that there really CAN be an accuracy difference with different ammo. Like... substantial... on the order of going from 1" to 3" groups at shorter ranges with handguns. Now, a lot of that has to do with powder selection not being the best for a given caliber/bullet weight. One would assume a major manufacturer cranking out billions of rounds does testing and finds a combination that should work well in most firearms. I just wanted to note that. No, a great recipe will no make a bad shooter good, but I have experienced that a bad recipe can make a good shooter look bad and begin to doubt himself/herself and the gun.
  3. I've shot the PPQ and was mucho impressed with it. It's ugly, but crazy comfy, and the VP kinda seems to ape the same grip design. I was also super impressed with the trigger on the PPQ. I've held the VP a lot but not shot it. If I had to pick one based on my own experience with both, it would be the PPQ. That may change with shooting the VP, but I kinda doubt it. The PPQ is on my short list. The VP is not on my list.
  4. Plenty of 20 rd boxes at Wally and Academy in Smyrna. :/
  5. Well that escalated quickly!
  6. I'm of the opinion that the judge/guv is more a novelty than anything else. The only way I see it having a real purpose is for up close small pests like rats, etc. Or, for horseback riders it would be a perfect snake gun. For defense against humans or canines, the 410 out of that pistol is very ineffective. 45 Colt is a good round, but then you've got a ridiculously huge pistol to deliver an overpriced round. Like others have said, a good old pump shotty or normal pistol may very well be a much better choice.
  7. Word. Before you go buying any more stuff, I do recommend coming over and working on my setup for a bit. It'll really help you make some decisions and possibly save you from buying twice on some items. :-)
  8. As for the turret OAL inconsistencies, maybe I got lucky? No matter what caliber I'm loading, my OAL range is only ever .003-.004 variation at max. Most rounds are within .001-.002. I'm not home to look at my data right now, but I think .40 max oal is 1.125", while most of the loads specify 1.115 or so oal. To give myself wiggle room I set for 1.120-1.122 oal. I have never had a feeding problem. I do the same for 9mm. Most data calls for OAL below max for the round. I set it in the middle and go to town.
  9. If you wanna practice on that exact press, message me or hit me on FB. You can come over and run off your first box of 9mm at my house. I'll be home Friday night.
  10. Yep. ;-) http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/93978-something-wicked-this-way-comes-from-kimber/page-4#entry1348522
  11. THIS. For real. I am already a hoarder by nature. While I definitely changed my shooting habits for a little while over the last few years, I was NEVER short on ammo or supplies.
  12. Ergh. As much of a fan as I am of the Witness Elite and up guns from Tangfolio, that thing's disgusting.
  13. Meh. I've reloaded for about a decade. Had one squib in my first batch, and never again so far. I bought one box of Ultramax 223 from Dick's and detonated my AR. It can happen to anybody. Unless you just know you're an idiot and gunna do something dumb, I think that's more of an excuse than a reason. And if it's for that reason that one won't reload, may I also suggest leaving dangerous things like driving, etc, to the professionals. I completely understand folks not wanting to invest the time or money on what might be negligible returns based on what/how much one shoots. I load on terribly cheap, slow equipment. I love it. Especially when I bust out the 10MM, 357 Mag, and 44 Mag!

    Cz and sig?

For me it now boils down to this: for carry/defense guns it's gunna be a plastic striker fired gun. For shooting enjoyment and just plain fun, it's a metal framed SA gun. I happen to be in love with Tangfolio's take on the CZ in the form of my Witness Elite Match. I have the work guns on lock at this point, pretty much gunna be buying fun guns from here on out.
  15. I like them both but would go SD9. It's a more simple design backed by a lifetime warranty. Also, the Smith comes with 2 mags, the Cougar with one. There's really not a wrong choice here, though.
  16. I think this is more of a headline than a story. More attention grabbing than anything. Sure, they're closing some stores that aren't doing well. They're also gunna open a crap load of new stores they think will do better. No news here, just business as usual.
  17. Awesome! Yea, had been paying the same price as you were before. I couldn't help but jump on the deal and share with my TGO buddies. :-)
  18. Glad you like them, HP! TB, I hope you like them, too. Yea, I've decided these are my go-to mags over Pmags now. That, and the fact that Pmags don't stack well really annoyed me. Heck, I may dump some Pmags and buy more of these sooner than later.
  19. I use a cheap ol' Lee turret. I'm only jumping in in reference to Hozzie's last paragraph. I know everyone's different, but I actually do use the turret when loading. I do my depriming all at once and hand prime while watching TV. Then I use the 3 hole turret to load each round. Flare/charge - turn - seat to depth/remove flare/crimp - turn - factory crimp die. Repeat. I know the FCD is considered a wasted step by many. That's cool. I like it, so I'm gunna keep doing it. I use the pro auto disk and sure, it leaves something to be desired for match grade consistency. However, it's fast and easy for making plinking ammo. Also, by choosing small spherical powders (AA series, most Ramshots) instead of large flakes, it becomes less of an issue.
  20. Glad yours arrived. What do you think of them?
  21. Wow! That was quick! Hhmmm.... gunna wait for a bit before pulling the trigger......... again.
  22. Just jumping in to say those old phones won't be paper weights. They're better at being targets than paperweights! ;-) I get great satisfaction from shooting electronics, from TVs, computers, phones, iPods, and small kitchen appliances to guitars and working amplifiers that are actual being played WHILE me and a half dozen buddies light 'em up! We did not shoot dude playing the guitar, btw. He was behind us, with 50 ft of cable and power running to the amps. Twas awesome!
  23. Isn't that the same thing? I always took that as a compliment. :-D
  24. Dagnabbit. I've totally been planning on going to this. Just realized I have conflicting events that weekend, and I cannot go. I'm actully sad. Like... feelings hurt/somebody kicked my puppy sad. Dangit. Fiddlesticks. Ugh. Filth and foul. Giant sad face emoji.
  25. Happiness is a box full of freshly baked AR mags! Sure, the shipping was slower than I would have liked but I'm not gunna fuss about free shipping and no tax on these bad boys! I wasn't in a hurry for them, and I definitely didn't NNNEEEEEED them, but I just couldn't pass it up. They're out of stock now, but if they're available again at this price in the future and I have the funds freed up, I'll probably get a few dozen more. Honestly, at the price we paid I was a little nervous that we may be getting bulk packed items or factory seconds, especially in light of how much I've spent on these before. Nope; perfect condition and packed just like all my other previous orders. I'm a cappy hamper!
