Yup, I've traded quite a bit through FB groups. One nice thing is that some of the groups were smaller in region so I wasn't drooling over guns in Knoxville or getting window lickers from Memphis making terrible offers... just window lickers from Mid TN, lol! You had to sift through more crap on FB, but with a little discernment in discussion, I've never had a bad deal either on guns or gear on FB. Suckerberg can do whatever he wants with his product. I still use it for some things... just not guns n stuff any more :/

Now you've just gone and hurt my feelings, lol!

I'm a boring old civilian pansy and love all the stuff MBest and crew have done. I'm totally going to see the movie.

I have had a lot of fun in the shotgun pit at OK Corral! Laptops, guitars, toaster, printer... just tons of fun! Of course, bring a big ol' box to haul away any mess you make. :-)

Kalashnikov will be building rifles in Florida

I'm assuming they just mean "not NY or CT." -
Is reloading not worth it on the common pistol cartridges?
musicman replied to NeveSSL's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I agree for the most part. However, if I were bored on a weekend and only had components for a midrange load for 357 on hand... honestly I may go ahead and run off a few hundred of those without testing first. As long as it doesn't blow up the gun and clears the barrel we're good. Sure, they may make 3" groups at 10 yards... that's what I'll give my buddies to shoot while I shoot a tested load, lol! I'll look like a rock star, haha! -

Hahaha! I make 60 look good, lol! -
Haha! I thought the same thing. I had that "aawwwww" sound in my head like when you see someone leave a puppy on the side of the road.

Oh, and if yer still thinking about checking out my set up, I have 100 .45 cases primed and ready for you. Just bring bullets. I don't load 45 for myself but have equipment on hand for friends who do. We can run you 3 loads using Titegroup, Bullseye, and HP38/W231. All great choices for 45. -

My only advice when starting new 9mm loads... start in small batches. I have been loading 40 for years, and I've NEVER had a load that didn't cycle every 40 cal gun I own, or tried them in. However, in 9 I've had more than a few that don't have enough "oomph." I start with batches of 30 rds of a new recipe and test that before proceeding. I got all excited and ran off 200 of my very first recipe. Didn't cycle for crap. Great way to practice yer malf drills. :/ I've found a few more loads that don't run in 9mm since then, but thankfully made small batches. I definitely agree that 9 is a bit more work than 40/10, 38/357, 44, and 45. I don't even wanna think about 380. I hate that caliber anyways, so thankfully I'll never hafta fool with it. -
I endured two months in Nissan Consumer Affairs. That experience tells me the exact same thing.

Wifey has an 08 Lincoln MKX with AWD, which is a spit-shined Edge. I like it. 130,000 miles and not a single problem so far. I do all the maintenance myself, and it's easy to work on. It's been great in the snow and ice. I've never had to change my plans because it couldn't take me where I wanted to go. Heck, it even forded (ha! Pun!) a small river over a roadway during the Nashville flood years back. Looking back, I really shouldn't have done that, but we made it through fine. Like others have said, the mileage isn't great. 3.5l V6, gets 19 city, up to 21 hwy. It could probably do a little better, but we flog that sucker. We road trip it often, and it's usually running close to triple digits. I can't complain about 20 mpg in that case. WAIT!!! Just remembered... we had a HUGE problem at about 50,000 miles! The switch that controls the power mirrors worked intermittently. Fixed under warranty, never to reoccur. Whew! As to the Subaru... great cars, too. My Bro has had a few. His only thing is the engines tend to need seals after a few years. He used to trade every 3 years so it didn't matter, but decided to keep this one a little longer as he has a kid about to go to college... just spent $2,400 on rebuilding the motor.

If it weren't for how terribly far back the trigger breaks on the G2, I'd find a way to overcome how much I dislike Taurus.

Right on. I'm only one step ahead of you, lol! My local Academy in Smyrna has both the Crossfires and Diamondbacks on display. They're getting pretty popular, so you should be able to find them somewhere near you.

The regular steel Witnesses are in the $500ish range. Witness Elite Matches have been around $700 and up for a couple years at least. I've started to see prices on a lot of guns start to creep back up in the last month or two. Inventory at many places is low, and folks will pay a little more to get something in hand. I saw Shield prices go up $10 and the SD go up $20 at Academy recently, and a few others I can't remember. As for picking guns based on what I thought was going to get more expensive? I dunno. I just buy what I like and can afford. If I was looking to possibly profiteer based on possible political downturn, I'd be buying every $10 or less AR mag I could afford. Your gun value may double or triple (see $2,000 crappy ARs a couple years ago) or your mags may go up 1,000%. Yes. I absolutely let a few of my extra AR mags go at the last panic. That halfway paid for my kick-butt 13rd Mossberg 930!

I started out with a Crossfire, and it's ok. If you can make the cost jump to a Diamondback, I really recommend it. Better glass, better turrets... better everything, imho. I bought two Crossfires before I got my first Diamondback. I'm never getting anything less than a Diamondback again, and eventually I'll swap out the Crossfires, too. Also, .308 can reach out there. I put a 6-18x50 on my M&P10 and really like it. It's a lot easier to see little bullet holes at 200yds with that puppy! Now I use my M&P10 as my spotting scope when shooting my other rifles with less magnification. It's hard to see .223 holes at 200 yds for me with the 3-9s on some of my other guns.

This snow should help preppers!!
musicman replied to Dirtshooter's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I am by no means a prepspert, but since I've been making a concerted effort for the last year or so, it was odd this morning for me, in a good way. I drove in to work in Nashville this morning at 6:30. I decided to leave at 7 to head back home, even though the company didn't officially shut down. (They did an hour later, of course.) I decided to stop by Kroger because I wanted to make a big pot of chili, and didn't want to thaw the beef in the freezer. I say it was odd because I was only shopping for niceties, not necessities. It was a very comforting feeling to not be stressed about food or warmth for the short future. I know this is nothing, just a short snowpocalypse, but having plans and food in place is nice. :-) -
I have no less than 3.5 kilowatts of floor-standing bombastic goodness between my man-cave, garage, and TV room. However, I often want to listen to some tune-age late in the evening or early in the morning and not damage the great relationships I have with my neighbors. ;-) That, and wifey doesn't share my penchant for metal. :-(

I don't know how they do it, but the CZ75 platform seems to be the only one that ALMOST EVERYONE holds and says "wow that's comfortable!"

Shot Show 2016!! (...for stuff that actually made the show!)
musicman replied to Peace's topic in General Chat
I agree with all the k frame love. It's made by Korth so it'll probably be insanely inexpensive. (Think Ferrari of guns) If it were reasonable I'd love one in my 2" M64. -
How does it sound? We have 2 Bluetooth speakers so far, but can use a couple more. I'd like to get to the point where I have one in every room, so I'm not trying to find where the wife most recently hid one after its last use. Funny enough, both of them are mine. (Gifts to me... one birthday, one Christmas.) I rarely ever get to use them. :/
-
Sheesh! How do you have so many friends who keep blowing up guns! I suggest you find a new crowd, lol! Who am I to talk... one blew up in my hands too, but at least it wasn't ammo I made. :/ yet.

Give me time to catch up!!! I'm only 33, haha!

F'real. I even have a box of .41 bullets and a small stash of brass for when I eventually get one. And I will... eventually. But first, I need to get a 44mag lever, so I have pairs in 357 and 44, THEN I'll get stupid with the 41.
