Smith model 10, 64, or 19. (I keep all three as car guns) I know, no high cap, no fancy crap, but it will go boom and not jam. In really tight spots (like inside a truck) I'd wonder about always having enough room for the slide to do it's job and not choke. No worries with a revo. Maybe a little burn from the cylinder gap, but heck, it'll heal!

It's not = ) I'm just gunna bring like 40-50 rds, though. I don't have the funds for more ammo yet, and I hate not having much on hand, so Mr. Mosin will be on a limited duty schedule for that weekend!

So, are we officially official now? I'm looking forward to another shoot!

I'm in for Red Robin.

The TGO classifieds!

There are also some good restaurants in Murfreesboro, even closer to OT. If we want something a little nicer, there is Demo's Steak & Spaghetti (a couple more $ than Dave's, but very good!) as well as the normal stuff like Chili's, Ruby Tuesday's, Red Robin, etc. I also really like Jason's Deli, which is all of 800 yards from OT on the same road. I'm still totally cool with Dave's, but just thought I'd throw those out there.

I'd like it to be the 23rd. I'm cool with the same set-up as last time, as well.

ok, I'll throw my $.02 on this one last time A Kia, a Chevy, and a Benz will all get you to and from work in the same amount of time. One is cheap, one's in the middle, and one is really expensive. They all perform the same task, but with different characteristics and levels of polish. You figure out which one you want, then look at your bank account. Which one can you get? Hopefully those two things will line up enough to make you happy. Does that make sense?

Don't know the fugates in Calhoun, but I know those KY boys are some serious buttholes. I won't go into it, but I'll never do anything that helps thems out.

I can hear Rabbi now... "Have you ever had a 20inch heavy barrelled AR with optics shoved length-wise up your.... never mind!"

While I am normally 100% pro-Smith, the 22As don't have an incredibly stellar reputation from my understanding. They are better than some, but not all. I have a neighbor who owns a Beretta Neos and it's a cool gun, if a bit Futurama. My nod would go to spending a little more for a nice Ruger, or a find a good Browning Buckmark.

Yea, when I die, it'll be on purpose!! (and probably the purpose of my wife, after I come home with another gun! "I promise! It just followed me here, hun!")
-
That depends.... If it were a pre-lock with case hardened hammer and trigger, it would be worth it for me. (Of course, that depends on the starting price of the Taurus!) If it were a brand new Smith.... nope. Also, is collectability and resale important? Nice S&Ws have been appreciating handsomely in the last couple years. Both guns will probably put bullets in the same size groups and function well, etc, but there's something to be said about the shooting experience with a ncie Smith, and I think the 686 is a great gun. ... I miss mine... sniff sniff

Absolutely gorgeous, and I'm happy for you (even if a tad bit jealous!) I still hate shopping with my wife, and I'm sure I'll never find a deal like this at Dillard's (her fav. place)

Weird. Huckabee (who I personally like, but he won't win) was first for me at 88.57%, but tied with Mitt Romney with 88.57% as well. Mccain 3rd at 71.43%. The last two are Barack at 28.57% and Gravel at 20.00%

not even touchin' that

Nope, everything's cool, I was just wondering if he was OK or not. Thanks for the update!

Howdy folks. I'm just wondering if anyone's heard from David lately? I don't think he's posted since our eat & shoot. Vacation maybe? Yea, I'm a worry wart!

I'm with you, Junglist. I want to try deer hunting, but have never so much as seen one go down. As for a gun, I'm thinking the Mosin-Nagant M44 carbine I got from a fellow forum member would do the trick. Ballistically, it's right there with the 30-06. Lots of overlap there depending in loadings. With a little work, it can be scoped, and the gun itself can be had for between $100-$175 depending on condition. That leaves LOTS of money (when compared to even a "cheap" $400 gun) for a scope and practice ammo. (Milsurp ammo can be had for nearly 10 cents a round!)

I have an insurance agency. It's tough going right now.

Isn't that the same as my CCW?

Don, thanks SSOOOOOO much!! That was WAY more than I expected, and I REALLY appreciate your generosity! Ive been wanting to try out some 180gr XTPs, and there they are!! Now my next gun is going to be a 32 mag. And that must be 300-400 XTPs for 32! Incredible!! You invested quite a bit in all of that, and to just give it away to someone you never even met is very cool! Anyways, thanks again, and I hope you are on the receiving end of someone else's generosity soon.

I'm not mike, but I use a handheld priming tool. Like he said, they can be had for about $20, and it sounds like a GREAT investment in safety for you. I have NEVER popped a primer while loading, and would poop my pants if I did. Yes, sometimes a primer will show signs of being struck, but not go off. If the primer was set too deeply, there may not be enough force to set it off. Some action designs do not always strike the primer with equal force. Hard primers (usually CCI) and light trigger jobs (PPC guns, etc) usually don't mix well, as a hard primer and a light strike lead to iffy ignition. I have been following this thread here and there, and once again will advise that you get a handheld priming device. Mike has mentioned it, as I believe others have. PLEASE DO IT! Buy this: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=807875&t=11082005 and this: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=566058&t=11082005 Do you already have this? http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=484416&t=11082005 It's out of stock now, but due in soon. Reading this COMPLETELY and THOROUGHLY will really help you understand what you're doing, and save you a lot of trouble. If you can, I suggest going this route: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=480380&t=11082005 For just $12 more than the manual alone, get a single stage press, too!

I've thought about that. At this point I've still got about $19-20,000 in business debt, so I think whatever I've got will go to that, minus a spam can or two of 7.62x54r!
