Don't really know how to respond to that one!
-
I've been following this thread for days now. I have never been to Hero Gear, Guns & Leather, or JWP's shop yet, but after reading their responses, I will be making trips to see them when I can start buying guns and stuff again. (Dumping all my $$$ into my business now) I went through the whole online vs local shop drama in the saltwater reef hobby. To save $65 I bought a refugium from an online retailer that I could have picked up at the Aquatic Critter but NOOOOOO........ I had to wait 2 weeks for it to show up from CA, then they forgot a rubber seal, and I had a big mess on my hands and about $1,500 in livestock in a precarious situation. I rann down to the Critter where Chris (the owner Chris, not the other Chris) knew that I had cheated them out of a sale, but he helped me devise a solution anyway and didn't even charge me for it. Dang I felt like a hot smelly turd that day. I'm not saying that every local store is like that, but I think the good ones are worth going to. From the reading I've done here, I don't think you guys are snowballin' me, and I look forward to working with you guys in the future. Oh, and Dan.... make sure you've always got a Dan Wesson Commander Bobtail .45 in stock... that's on the top of my list! =)

MV is cool. Ok, so who here has ever heard of Dream Theater? They've ben around since the early 80's. You have to forgive the singer, but the rest of the band is awesome. Here's one of my favorite insturmentals of theirs. This is like 1991 or 1992 I think: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nwBIsxI4Dw[/ame] Probably the best Floyd cover ever: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnA4GAFzZm4[/ame] And here's the drumer, Mike Portnoy with his side project Yellow Matter Custard, a Beatles tribute band. See Matt Bissonette (sp?) who plays bass with Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert (of Mr. Big Fame) on guitar, and Neal Morse. Absolutely great cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynB3Ei45MhM[/ame]

What did the eyes say to the mouth? ................... "Between you and me, something smells!"

yep, I go that way 4 times a week or so for church. It still amazes me that people with Davidson tags are still getting caught there. How can you not know they are there?!

well, I tried cooking fish for the very first time tonight.... it was... just OK. I grilled a nice salmon filet with a homemade terriyaki/shallot/honey glaze. Next time I want to try the cedar plank thing and get the fish already skinned. I hate the skin on there! Oh, I grilled hot dogs for the wife. She's a really plain eater... hot dogs, burgers, boring chicken.

You're welcome, Eddie! Glad you enjoyed it. I gotta make those wings again!!

Another part of the equation for me is a gun's aesthetic qualities. I think the M&P is one cool looking gun. The XDs are OK, and Glocks just remind me of Volvos from the 80s. (That's not a good thing)

freakin impossible with this daggum touchpad! about 12 secs

Like you said, Hattie's (H&T's) in Nashboro village is awesome!! There is really nothing better than their pork chops!

C'mon.... you know you want one! How cool would that be???!!! Like a little Il Duce from Boondock Saints? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1S1oVyu2SkM[/ame]

I definitely agree that being in a church is not what saves us. For me, being a part of the church I go to is simply a choice. Like VolzFan said, it's up to you what decisions you make about your ideas of God. There are plenty of folks who I'm sure go to church but have not made a decision for salvation yet, and plenty of folks who don't go to a church who have. I like going to my church because there is no way I could do as much for other folks by myself. As a group we get a lot more done. Also, the emotional support and love I get there is great. I know I have about 80 people who will be there whenever I need them. That's a nice thing when my closest family is roughly 700 miles away. I also find that I am growing into a better person by learning from sermons and hanging out with folks who have been around a lot longer than me.

... . ... daggum.

I grilled us up some burgers. They were some new frozen patty I hadn't tried before. They were just OK.

I've got the reverse problem! I get 7-8 dark brown/black hairs that show up in my blonde 'stache every few weeks, and I tweez them suckers. Hurts like heck... no way could someone get me to wax!!

Just saw this, and I figured there'd already be a heated debate after 2 and a half hours of it being up! I'm one of those that voted #1. My parents both chose their religion and Christian walk. I watched them live it as I was growing up. They weren't and aren't perfect, and neither am I. So far, my life and experience confirms my beliefs for the most part. However, I am always learning new things and wrestling with ideas. I know that won't ever stop. I won't say that any one group has it all figured out. I know I don't, and my church doesn't. But I also don't think that's what it's about. I think it's cool that I get to be a part of a church family that is helping out so many people in the Murfreesboro Road/Briley Pkwy area.

I've got a little beard thing goin' on... it's kinda' funny. I have brown hair on my head, blonde hair for my 'stache, and a reddish-brown beard. I keep it trimmed to about a 4-5 level with a little Remington (not a gun!) groomer machine. I'm thinking of cutting it down to a goatee soon, but I'm kind of afraid. I'm chubby and the beard makes it look like I have bones in this sack-of-fat I call a head. I'm afraid if I cut it down I'll look like a volleyball again! See what I mean: This is me about two months ago with our friends' daughter Caileigh This is back in May, on the beach in Miami

OK, tonight I just grilled some Oscar Mayer hot dogs. They were yummy. After all that talk about wings in the other thread, I bought a bag at Publix tonight. Maybe early next week I'll devise a plan to cook 'em!

ClutePC here on the 'board has a M&P40c and loves it. I always bug him to let me shoot it at the range, and I love it!! It's one of the few guns that I have ever just picked right up and been very accurate with it. (That and Disney's sweet Kimber) When I can buy guns again, and M&P40c will become my carry gun. I'd also like a fullsize 9 for range use.

That has got to be the coolest thing I've ever seen!! My mom sent me this pic. (yea, I'm a Momma's boy... what about it?!)

Kelley and I did our grocery shopping for the next week or so, and it's been a really long day, so we just grabbed Wendy's on the way home. But tomorrow, I'm grillin' up some chicken and whatever else I can rustle up!

I actually agree with Sling and Verbal. If the gun itself is going to break your budget, how are you going to shoot it much and practice when ammo is over $10 a box for nearly all centerfire rounds. With a .22 you can shoot all day on $7-8 of Federal bulk pack ammo. That's a lot of practice, and a lot of savings to be able to buy another, more powerful gun later. In reality, your first gun you may end up turning around and selling soon anyway, if you end up not liking it too much. You'll only know if you like it after some experience with it, so it's all a crap shoot (pun intended) anyways. I do agree, though, that .22 is total garbage for a defense round. (and don't anybody start talking about how their cousin's sister's boyfriend's co-worker's nephew once killed a charging bull elephant with a .22 short. It was luck and I don't want to hear about it) But, you probably won't be carrying right away as you have never shot a gun, and I am guessing you haven't gotten into the legal and moral rammifications of carrying a gun. You've got lots of practice and training to do before going armed. It is a serious responsibility. Once you do take the HCP class, plan on up to a 10 week wait for your permit to arrive. Depending on you money situation over the next 3-6 months (my guess as to when you'll probably be ready to actually carry) do you think you'll be able to buy a .22 now, and then a more powerful gun later, when you know more of what you want in a firearm? For training, I recommend Todd and Dustin here: http://www.criticalincidentstrategies.com/ Best of luck!

Ok, so I just went and listened to the full song again, and was cracking up the whole time! I never really realized how much of that stuff he did in the song! Thanks for posting that, sling!

Hey, it was before my time (I'm 25) but I have all the VH stuff, and I thought this was hilarious!! Also, it makes Spinal Tap and the Derek Smalls airport incident less sarcastic than I originally thought!

For regular ol' wings I hit Toot's in Smyrna on Mondays, like Brian N said. However, my favorite wings are from a little greek/italian place called Cedars. It's on President Place just off Sam Ridley in Smyrna, right by my office. They're totally different. They are cooked with garlic, diced peppers, and green onions. (I love garlic, peppers, and onions) One of the cooks makes them pretty dry (that's how I like them) but sometimes they are a bit runny when on eof the other dudes is in the kitchen. It's kind of a crapshoot as to who you'll get that day.
