  1. Maybe they only mean tax on the charges, not the gun price? (10 for fee, 10 for tics) I can understand collecting tax on the charges. One other question.... is there a way to get around them knowing how much you paid for the gun? The gun purchase is between you (the buyer) and someone far away (the seller) with the FFL just processing your receipt of the gun. They don't need to know anything else to process the transfer, right? You could tell them you bought that Barrett .50 for $3 from a friend in AZ, and as long as the shipper doesn't put a receipt or something referring to value in there, they wouldn't have a clue. Am I right in that thinking?
  2. Sounds expensive!!
  3. yet the questions still remains.... If a bunch of stupid hippies get capped in the forest, and no one but the shooter (who is, of course, wearing ear protection) is around, does it make a sound? and would anyone care?
  4. "The bike is for men because the seat is flat or some [poop] and not shaped like a dildo. If you like flat seated bikes you're going to love this thing because it doesn't try to penetrate your [butt] or anything." Ya know, that's the most important part right there. This past labor day weekend, I got stupid and agreed to ride a 14 mile mountain bike trail with some of my family in Maggie Valley, NC. I'm fat. I sit behind a desk in a nice, fluffly ofice chair, in a comfy, air conditioned office. I don't make a habit of strenuous physical activity. What possessed me to go along with this stupid idea? I have a perfectly good car with soft seats, a nice suspension, a V8, and A/C. Why would I want to pedal a rough riding, butt busting, vomit inducing contraption instead? Anyways, I made it through, but not without much frustration. Also, some bruises. I experienced the pain of those much hated banana seats. I told my wife that riding that bike was the closest I've ever come to being gay. The bruises just under my butt in the crotch area have finally faded away. My legs no longer feel like jello and I have since been to the chiropractor. I freakin' hate bikes.
  5. That's HILARIOUS!!!
  6. I've been known to do that, too! But usually everybody gets at me after awhile.
  7. golf balls, bowling pins, dvd players, computers, and plastic bottles..... and an old favorite.... rotten fruit and veggies!!
  8. That was great!
  9. I know I've been a bad boy and have missed the last 2 mid tn meets, but schedule permitting, I'd be down!

AWESOME. I loved The Inside Man. This seems to be by some of the same folks. I may pony up the stupid cash for this one... or just call one of my friends who work at the movies to see if I can get a free pass.
  16. Cool!! Ok, weird observation of mine... Joe Satriani has to have the hairiest arms of any human alive. Could he have been that thing in those Georgia boys' freezer? Either it was him or my 5th grade teacher Ms. Clifton... she was a hairy beast as well, with a scary snaggletooth.

    .38 super vs .45

Hm... do you know if there are aftermarket barrels available in .357 bore? If I ever get one, I'll be shooting my own loaded ammo pretty much exclusively anways. I don't think the extra thousandth will really hurt the cases or chamber much. I also don't work the brass a lot when loading, just expanding barely enough to seat the bullet is about all.

The 10 MM will be a Dan Wesson Commander Bobtail!

    .38 super vs .45

Every time I see threads like this I get all day-dreamy for a 38 Super doublestack 1911 for carry. I know, probably crazy, but 357 mag is my favorite caliber, and the idea of 12-15 of them at a time in a handgun just gets me all excited!! I've only ever shot one 38 super before, and I liked it. I think it was a Colt, but I don't really remember. I had just started shooting back then and didn't really know all the Mfgrs well at that time. I believe 38 Super is actually .356 caliber, right? I've heard of people using both .355 (9mm) and .357 (38sp/357mag) bullets for loading purposes in 38 Super. I wouldn't be afraid of .355 bullets (maybe not the best for accuracy) but I'm a little nervous about .357 bullets due to what I perceive as possible pressure problems shoving a fatter jacketed round down the pipe. Is that .001 negligible? With all the great .357 hunting/defense bullets out there, it seems that someone could make a dandy defense round in 38 Super. Of course, the argument there is the .357 sig, but what if I don't like bottlenecked cases? Also, I'm just guess that more rounds of 38 Super eould fit in the same size mag as 357 sig which is based off the .40 case, no? Ugh... there's always more guns than money!
  20. I saw Petrucci on that tour and you're right, he wasn't up to Satch performance levels at that point. Also, that was his first real tour as a solo guitarist. Remember, he was always playing with Dream Theater before that. He eventually released a solo album with a lot of the stuff he was working on during that tour and some more stuff. Again, you could tell he wasn't really used to being without a band, having to carry a whole album with just a guitar and no lyrics. This last tour (06 I think) was a lot different, I thought. He was much more in his element this time around. And Dave LaRue is a freaking beast, playing for both Satch and Petrucci, then also carrying the trio through their jams at the end. The man is an ANIMAL!! I think he's got to be one of the hardest working road warriors ever. I love his driving fingerpluck style. Wish I was 10% as good as he is. Yea, Joe is a friggin' midget! Petrucci isn't really much better. While Steve is a kind of tall dude, he absolutely towers over Joe. Paul Gilbert is about Steve's size, and I like him better anyway. (Sacrilege to some, I know.... for some reason I just can't handle too much of Steve Vai. I agree he is technically amazing, I just don't get all of his grooves)
  21. hehehe!! It was a lot of fun to see him do that at the last G3 tour! However, I still think Petrucci rocked the hardest that night. I'm kinda' falling out of love with Satriani as of late, though. I still dig his early stuff, especially "The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing"
  22. Totally OT, but I love Paul Gilbert, too. Here's one off his latest album. This track just hs a great groove to it. Wish I could play like that! [ame] [/ame]
  23. That's cool! Tell us a bit more about the gun (or did I totally miss another thread here?) is that taken at Owl Hollow?
  24. Yea, Corner was snobby, but lots of cool gear to play with!! Joe Hinchliffe, the guitar tech, was the coolest guy there, and by far the best guitar player in the store. He is also a darn good dude, and a great friend. Fork's is cool too! I got a smokin deal on a Mapex kit there for my church. Good to see them branching out. Gary's a good guy.
  25. Cool! I also worked at Corner Music here in Nashville. I learned a lot about how an individual (ie:non-chain) retailer works there, too. I guess if I had to boil it all down to one word.... relationships. That entails treating people right, every time, as well. Oh, and I'm a bigtime vintage Ibanez guy. Paul Gilbert is one of my favorite players, mostly because of his Ibanez collection. (That and he can freakin' rip!) I know I'll be going to NC for a family reunion early next year.... I may try and stop in K-ville to check you place out.
