  1. I'm gettin' kinda' hooked on this show. Plus, they usually have some kind of really nice car in every episode! I'm really looking forward to tonight's new episode. Any other fans here?
  2. Great review, TDR. You have a way of getting down to the fine details that many other publications miss when performing a review.
  3. Coo! Thanks for the info. I love reading people's experience and factual data on different types of ammo. One day soon I hope to have a chrono myself!
  4. +1 on the Mini Mags... forgot about those. They were the best in my 597, butstill not 100% jam-free.
  5. I had (notice the past tense) a 597, and let me tell you... the feeding problems could not have been the ammo's fault... unless over a dozen different big name ammo types are all bad. I got a Wally World Special 10/22 and 95% of the problems disappeared. I think if I had put a weight on the bolt release handle like most customized 10/22s have, the other 5% of the problems would have disapeared. Best of luck finding a happy combination for your gun. Have you tried some standard velocity stuff? Sometimes slowing down the blowback action can help cycling. My gun was closing in on the cases and squishing them before they could be ejectted free of the bolt.
  6. SWEEEET!!! I wanna shoot that Bobtail SSSOO bad!
  7. Cool, further backs up the good ol' 1 inch spread per yard rule of thumb. Thanks for the report!
  8. Glad you came out of it OK. Hope your local pusher doesn't run out of oxycodone any time soon! I hope physical therapy goes well for you, and that you have a quick and full recovery. You gotta make it before deer season closes!
  9. Hey, if you have a friend who owns enough property to shoot on, or you can find a range that will let you shoot stuff, golf balls are a lot of fun! Bowling pins, too, but I won't shoot .22s at bowling pins... they bounce back sometimes!!
  10. $3.31 at the Home Depot in Smyrna today. Kroger may be cheaper... couldn't see that far down the road this morning.
  11. SHAZAM!!! (Just thought it would add some flair to the normal "nice" "sweet" "cool", etc)
  12. http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/187.html Wow... well put... and in 2007, before all this crap blew up.
  13. That's still good. After you spend more time around the rest of us, you'll start to feel pretty good about yourself!!
  14. HAHAHAHA!! Squirrel's butthole!!! That's rich!!
  15. Yep! And when you go into the convenience store, you buy a prepaid card, then go out and use it to get $.03 off per gallon! This is a new Home Depot, been open about 2 years... across the street from Lowe's, of course!
  16. Hey, that's good! What type of ammo are you shooting? Scope? from a bench? If that's with iron sights, you're doing very well. If you're shooting bulk ammo (like the Federal, Remington, or Winchester 500+ boxes, or the cheaper 50 rd boxes) then you're doing really well. Try some match grade ammo like the Wolf or Eley stuff. The bullets are greasy feeling and the ammo is much more consistent. It really does make a difference. I didn't believe it until I shot some of the stuff in Jason F.'s and EasilyObsessed's guns at a meet awhile back. Glad you're havin' fun! So what kinda' gun do you want to buy next?!
  17. You got it guys. I had a Walther P22 and a Ruger 10/22, and in fits of stupidity, hunger, and helplessness I sold them both. Man I miss them!! When I can get back to gun buying again, I'm going to get a 10 shot Smith 617 6", and a basic 10/22 to trick out. When shot EO's tricked out 10/22 and put all of them into one hole at 25 yards offhand, I about pooped myself. No, I'm not an amazing shot... his is an amazing gun. Everybody there was shooting like a champ through his gun!
  18. It's $3.39 at the Home Depot here in Smyrna.
  19. From a few of the sources I've seen online, you can expect a .22lr to drop about 3" @ 100 yards and about 40" at 200 yards, so yes, there is a big difference. Your .223 is moving along around 3,000 fps, depending on the load and gun. The humble .22lr is trudging along about 1,000-1,100 fps, and is not more than 10 to 15 grains lighter. From what I see. 22's are generally guns for inside of 100 yards. That's not necessarily a problem, just start shooting at 50 yards and go for .5" groups, instead of trying for 1" groups at 100 yards. Get a .22 pistol and a Ruger 10/22. You can buy BOTH of those for the price of 1,000 rounds of some common calibers of ammunition! Then talk to EasilyObsessed and Hero Gear about tricking out your guns.
  20. Critical Incident Strategies Smyrna, TN Officers Todd Bryant and Dustin Fait HCP Class Cost $80 http://www.criticalincidentstrategies.com/index.htm 615-347-0787 I know both Todd and Dustin from their roles as Smyrna police officers and their involvement in the community, as well as working with them in business. They are real, honest guys who don't play "tacticool" and won't try to impress your girlfriend with their machismo. (You know the kind I'm talking about... I can't freaking stand that!) Their knowledge and advice comes from years of training of all kinds that they have attended, and real world experince as officers and SWAT team members. Anyways, I have had friends take their HCP course and all of them gave glowing reviews. They do more than just paper punching and really open up their students' minds to what can actually happen in a self-defense situation. We've all heard the awesome reviews on here about their defensive carbine, pistol, and shotgun classes, too. Once we can get our calendar straight, my wife will be taking her permit course here.
  21. Police Academy (the first one) is on CMT right now. That was my favorite movie series growing up. (yea, I'm just 25!) There go my hopes of going to bed early tonight!
  22. Wow!! Not what I was expecting, but that was pretty funny!
  23. Now if there were just more of the second one to help us work off the first one, we'd be in business! (StrickJ.... here's your cue!.....)
  24. What, do they make you have random bowel movements due to the overhwelming joy they cause you to experience?
  25. There's no requirements whatsoever to buy components. You can be a felon on the run from the law and buy all the powder, primers, and bullets you want. I also get my stuff from the Reloader's Bench in Mt Juliet. Bass Pro in Opry Mills carries powder and primers, but their bullet selection sucks. If you are ever near a Cabela's they're usually pretty good.
