Does it make me look like an idiot that I didn't even know RRA made 1911s?

Cool article, but I would be a little nervous with some of those loads, myself. Maybe a slow work up in an S&W 625 or something, but I dunno if I could put more than one or two of those through a bottom feeder and not expect bad things. I am, however, all about heavy bullets moving along! (That's why God invented the .44 Mag!)

I guess I'm weird. I haven't played aa action video game in over 4 years. Nothing against them, just don't really play them. I do, however, play tennis and bowling on my Wii from time to time!

that's me!! Didn't know there was any "fame" involved, though! Are you still an active member there? I've been out of reefing for about 3 years now, but I still check their boards every now and then. When money gets better, I'd like to start up again.

First, TNGunOwners.com, its owners, administrators, and staff are not responsible for any improper or unsafe information posted or discussed on this forum, and cannot be held liable for accidents or occurrences that may arise from the use of anything posted here. Second, please reference established load manuals to confirm the safety of any load recipes or techniques discussed on this forum. Just ‘cuz Joe the plumber says 31 grains of H110 is great under a 158gr bullet in .357 magnum doesn’t mean you should go and try it out!! Here are some links to the major powder companies’ online load data: Hodgdon, Winchester, IMR, - http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp Alliant - http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/Index.htm Accurate Arms - http://www.accuratepowder.com/reloading.htm Ramshot - http://www.ramshot.com/powders/ Norma - http://www.norma.cc/sortimentladd.asp?doc=Sort&Lang=2 (If the brand you are using is not listed, please do a quick search online.) For the person thinking about reloading, PLEASE first purchase a good reloading manual and READ IT THOROUGHLY before buying any equipment. Having a better understanding before you start buying stuff will save a lot of headache, money, and time. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have after reading your manual. There’s a lot of “art†to reloading, and you won’t learn much of that from a book! Here are a couple other forums or websites that are also great resources for information on reloading. http://handloads.com/ http://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve Thanks, and happy shooting!

Smith and Wesson's new M&P flash lights
musicman replied to TGO David's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Cool! I'm glad for S&W, then. I really like them as a brand and was hoping that with the TC buyout and all that they would bring some really cool things to market. Unfortunately, the I-bolt seems to have gotten no love. Hope these flashers do well for them. -

There are SSSOOO many different HP designs, it's hard to boil it down to an easy answer. Copper is generally harder/stronger than the lead in the core of a bullet. Some folks think that a semi-jacketed bullet will start to open up at lower velocities than a fully jacketed round. I think, though, that it has more to do with the bullet design (angle of inside and outside of the hollowpoint walls), whether the nose has those little scores to help it peel open/apart, and the hardness of both the lead used and the copper or bronze. (ie: golden sabres) I shoot a lot of Zero JHPs which have a semi-jacketed HPs, and Remington bullets of the same design. The Remis seem to be of a much softer lead and slightly different hollowpoint shape. In shooting bowling pins and other stuff, the Remis (loaded over the same charges and shot out of the same guns) expand more and more reliably, however they seem to fragment a lot more. I also really like Hornady XTP JHPs, and they are a fully jacketed design. They seem to open up more like the Remis, but the don't seem to shed as much lead in fragmenting. (And these are non-bonded bullets) Did I sufficiently muddy that up for you?

When writing your letter (which I think you should do) send a copy both to the store manager, and see if you can find out who is above that manager. Make it known (IE: show a little CC:-insert superior's name-) that you are sending this letter along to a superior manager as well. That gets things done. When the store manager knows she is under fire too, she'll get hopping.

about 5:45. We're technically LaVergne residents by like 450ft, so we voted at the LV Civic Center. It's kinda funny. When we decided on the house, we thought it was still in Smyrna. Our realtor drove us out here, and all we saw was the street name and house number... didn't really notice the "Welcome to Lavergne" sign just before our street! We spend all our time (and money) in Smyrna, so I feel like a Smyrna resident. I also have my business in Smyrna and most of my clients are in Smyrna as well.

Kelley and I voted. Waited in line for 1.5 hrs.

TGO Look and Feel -- Do you see blues, grays or earth tones?
musicman replied to TGO David's topic in Feedback and Support
Earth tones, some blue fonts. I have no idea what video card I'm running. Whatever would come in a 2 year old Toshiba notebook with an Intel Centrino processor. -
I didn't know Spiderman carried a pistol!

Yea, I had a stainless Wally special. It was a stainles barrell and an obviously painted receiver.

Cool! Me an' some buddies will be going to a pumpkin patch next week, I think. I can't wait! -
I generally won't recommend a .22 for any defensive purpose not just because of dismal performance (which can't be overstated) but because of reliability. Even though the gun may be somewhat reliable, most .22 ammo is not only pretty cheap, but pretty cheaply made. The biggest problem is with incomplete speading of the primer mixture around the rim, leading to non-ignition if struck where there is no compound present. Yes, CCI MinMags and some others have great reputations, but are still not generally up to centerfire standards, IMO. I understand the statement about 50% carry, 50% plinking, but which 50% of the time is more valuable to him? Burning up ammo or defending his or others' lives in a potentially deadly situation? Tell him to man up and take this responsibility seriously. (Not to be mean, but honest) Get a quality centerfire pistol of resonable caliber and performance, then learn how to use it.

Advice on slowing down speeders in residential neighborhood?
musicman replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
Hey, Sgt. Andy Miller (over the traffic dept) of Smyrna PD has a life-size cardboard cut-out of him holding a radar gun. I think they got it last year. Anyway, I'm sure you've seen these in use before. Maybe a short-term solution (people figure it out and ignore them, eventually) while plans and funding are pulled together for speed bumps, etc. I'll be happy to help with any kind of petition or whatever else I can, too. -
$2.99 at the BP and Shell stations on Broad St just north of Quality Dr in the Boro today. Good thing, too. I filled up and burned through half of that dang tank today!
