LF, you have brought up something that I've always wondered about... this talk about focusing on what "makes us stronger." .... well... what the heck is that?
-
Cool! What did that setup run you, if you don't mind my asking?

Hey Mike! I actually have never loaded a 44 special case. Factory 44 special always seems to cost just as much or more as 44 mag, so I have never bought any. I've also never gotten any range brass in 44 spc either. However, I do love shooting powderpuff loads in my 629! I don't really like posting my own load data online as I may make a mistake, or it may be misinterpreted, but I'll be happy to tell you powder and bullets I like to use. When I'm using Tennessee Valley Bullets (you'll see Jesse and his reloading booth at most of the local gunshows, and his stuff is AWESOME!) 240gr cast SWCs, I like minimum loadings using HP38/Win231 so far. I've tried AA #2, but it won't give me a complete burn. If I'm using plated bullets or jacketed stuff I like titegroup OK, Bullseye, and again, HP38/231.

Bastet, it's "Titanium" also known as ... gray. Angus, I understand you. I used to be all into home audio electronics cuz' I'm a muci nut, but I've always hated cell phones. I don't wanna be bothered, but now I have a job where I'm basically on-call 24-7, and everywhere I go somebody is asking me for some info on their policy or some crazy stuff. It's kind of annoying to spend 15 minutes of your dinner out with friends talking business. But anyway, I've resigned myself to the fact that this is now my life, and I'm not going to be the guy who only answers his phone during business hours, because my clients have accidents regardless of my schedule, and I gotta help 'em. Also, I really need a calendar system to help me keep my ever-busying schedule in check (just remembering everything isn't cutting it anymore) Also, I have to go inspect proerties all the time, so the GPS nav it kinda' cool. This thing has a 2 megapixel camera, so I don't have to lug around my old Sony DSC-P200 anymore either. The ability to e-mail back and forth on the go is HUGE for me too. I can get info back to staff at the office and have them working on stuff while I'm away now, and don't have to leave meetings/seminars to commmunicate. I used to hate my phone and the last one I had was absolutely bare bones, but I really dig this new one!

I love my 629-4! There's s finesse and smoothness that the 29s usually have that just can't be matched by Taurus and Ruger. Colt Anacondas are nice, too. Is is worth the extra $$ to me? Yes. I won't say they are perfect, though, as my 44 is at Smith getting a firing pin replaced right now! I prefer a 6" gun to get more velocity, but an 8" barrel doesn't seem to balance well to me.

OK, so I went with Sprint and got a blackberry curve. It showed up today! I'm at church right now for a kids' function, and using my BB to type this! I'm pretty stoked, and I love this thing! Just wanted to share. Carry on.

http://www.constitutionparty.com/ Saw a friend on Facebook had joined the TN chapter of the Consitution Party, and it piqued my interest. I'm going to be looking into them a bit more. What do ya'll think?

I know what you're sayin', Nate. I've wondered that same thing a lot, myself. "Are they watching us now?!" kind of stuff. I 99.9% doubt they give a crap right now, but I surely don't put it past any future twisted gov't agency to crack down us via forums. They've been using chat rooms, etc to catch child predators for years. If they start to look at gun folks the same way, we're in deep poop.

I grew up seeing the racist "shoe on the other foot." I was one of 5-6 white kids in the senior class at my school in Miami, FL. And actually, the worst racism in the business world was from Hispanics, mainly Cubans, towards white folks. My Dad owns a construction business and things were fine through the 70s and 80s. In the 90s all the local political offices and civil seats were rapidly being filled by Cubans who funnelled all business and benefits to other Cubans, regardless of their ability to complete jobs. The worst were the inspectors who would always make Dad go back and forth on sometimes the same things that they would want to see done differently (regardless that Dad's work was ALWAYS at or above code) That wasted time really started eating into my Dad's bottom line. Work has become a money-losing venture for him now. He's fighting to see daylight, but I dont think it will happen, and a great 80+ year old family business will fall silently into oblivion, and no one will care. He's already put over $1 mil in his personal cash over the last 3 years to keep paying his employees, who he feels responsible for. With the crash in Florida's housing market, their house is worth half what it was, and his commercial property has dropped by more than that. So, his real estate assets which were a big part of his retirement plan are now basically gone. The sad reality is that if things don't change... after 40+ years of hard work and generosity to those who work for him... my parents may be WalMart greeters in another decade, never being able to enjoy the fruits of their hard work in the form of a comfortable retirement. I really hope that when the time comes I can help take care of them. They've done so much for me, I hope I can show them the same love I recieved over the last 25 years. Sorry for all that, guys. This is just something that's really been on my mind and heart lately, and I really hurt for my Mom and Dad right now. Thanks.

Obama Teacher Browbeats Kid Who Supports McCain
musicman replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That stinks. Most of the teacher's unions are very leftist and democratic. My wife is a rutherford county teacher and refuses to join any of the unions purely for their political stance. Sux. -
Obamanations (pictures for the masses)
musicman replied to TGO David's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Bush has been in the spotlight for 8+ years now. If there weren't more out there, I'd say he wasn't doing his job. Give BO the same amount of time, and I'm sure you'll see that things are a little different. -
Barack was all about unity and all... but I feel like a bigger wedge has been driven between races, classes, and beliefs now more than any time since ... maybe the 60's? I dunno... I was born in '82 and wasn't around for the hippie movement. What do you think?

About every third cleaning I'll do a field strip and clean a little more vigorously. I usually at least give them all a wipedown.

update: another 3 popo and an ambulance just went down Sam Ridley towards Lowry. Busy night.
-
So I live just off Sam Ridley pkwy near Smyrna. About an hour ago the election was called for Obama. I have heard five or six fireworks or gunshots in the last 30 minutes, lots of cop cars blazing down the road with their sirens and three distinct fire trucks. Are these just accident responses, or dumb people reacting to the election? What's going on in your neck of the woods?

 But seriously.... Ya know... it's weird... Kelley's school isn't in a location that I think is all that bad. It's behind Alexander Ford, at the intersection of Jones Blvd and W Clark. Unfortunately, if you look at the zoning maps, that's not where the majority of their students come from. So... do I worry about her going back and forth to her car and such.... not really... at least not anymore than I would at our house or anywhere else. There's always the chance that some whacko is out there from Franklin and Brentwood to Antioch and Gallatin Rd. What I'm more worried about is some kid bringing something to school and hurting other kids or teachers. Kelley has already taken away two makeshift shanks in the last year. Of course, the principal says it nothing and won't call the cops. Oh yea, those kids I mentioned earlier.... the cops were called in for a situation with them the year before all that happened, and the officers offered to arrest them and put them in juvy for awhile, and the administration (both at the school and the city school system) just let it go so as not to make a scene, or bring negative attention to the school system. We're still tyring to get the time and money for Kelley to get her CWP. She's still afraid to have a gun on campus, though. She can get in some deep doodoo if that's found out. So.... I guess, yes, I am a little worried. But I think I'd be just as worried if she worked at a Best Buy or any other place.

My wife teaches at Mitchell-Neilson elementary in Murfreesboro. If there is a ghetto school in the Boro, this is it. Do any of you remember that 13 year and his 14 year old buddy that drove an Expedition to Joelton and back early last year, and about to miss their exit off I-24 on the way back home, they swerved and hit a family in a station wagon, killing the father? Those were some of her students. They were know gang members and drug dealers... in 6th grade. Anyways, there are a few rays of hope in the eyes of some bright young kids in the school, but for the most part they are passing through on their way to jail and the streets. Of the kids that voted yesterday, there were 30 votes for McCain, and over 200 for Obama. I'm guessing that for the same reasons as others have mentioned... it's who their parents are talking about. Well, many of these kids don't actually have "parents" in the traditional sense... grandparents, cousins, relatives, and foster families take care of a surprising (to me) number of these children here in the heart of Rutherford county. The sad thing is, these families seem to grow faster than responsible, mature ones. 5-6 kids brings in more welfare than 1-2. My parents knew kids were a lot of work and dadgummed expensive and stopped with 2.... I was a surprise, being #3. After I showed up Dad decided to make sure that wasn't going to happen again and traded in his live ammo for blanks. Unfortunately the scale of population seems now to have tipped out of our favor. I'm not excited about where we are going.

careful... it could go off in your hand!

Those 317s are cool. It's especially cool if she's gunna shoot it a lot, cuz she can shoot almost 1,000 .22s for the price of one box of 357 Mag these days! Uhh... as for the trigger.... gee... there are so many different reports and opinions on guns' triggers, and what I want may not be what you want, yadda yadda yadda, I'm not even gunna try and make some kind of statement there, except that with a good gunsmith I'm sure you can get the trigger to feel just like you want it to. I imagine if your lady is into guns, she wouldn't sneeze at a gift like the 317!
-
You could also probably go to a place like Hero Gear, or one of the other vendors here o the board and get the same gun, plus a goodie like an optic or a buttload of mags for the same $$$ as just buying the gun at Franklin Gun Shop. When (if) I get the funds up to build another AR, it's going to be a flat-top so I can easily mount a red-dot sight, and I will probably put flip up front and rear iron sights for backups. I'm thinking about going with a 16" heavy/bull barrel of some sort. I'm not worried about weight, but I want it somewhat shorter for mobility (but no so short I gotta spend $200 more dollars and wait for someone to sign some paperwork!) Don't wait... buy now. There are so many good prices on good guns out there right now, I don't think that even if McCain wins we'll see any significant price drop. Solid M4geries can be had in the $700-$750 range right now. Granted, I think we've all seen lowers go up by 15-20% in the last year or two, but we're only talking $10-$20 there.

They are pricey little .22s, but good guns from all I have seen. Like TC said, EXCELLENT training guns. My wife started out on a P22 and that was great, too. If cost isn't a big deal, go for the Sig! Plus, it's PINK!
