  1. Kinda' makes an ND seem like not-so-much a big deal, huh? I feel bad for the kid, but DANG!!!
  2. cool vid. Can't imagine a .22 wheeling a guy back like that, or incapacitating him that quick in a shoulder shot, but ya gotta love TV!
  3. I'm sure Hero Gear has rebuild kits in stock, and I think On Target in the boro does too. You can usually find them at any online retailer in 3 or 5 packs pretty reasonably priced as well.
  4. I don't have a camper yet, but it's on my 10yr "to-do" list. Some of the best times I had as a kid was camping with the fam. I want something like Joe's got with sliders, probably. My wife is a teacher and has summers off, so I'm hoping that in time we will be able to afford a camper, and that we will be able to off 4-6 weeks a year and tour the country. There's so much to see!

    Walther P99

I never owned one but shot plenty of them. They all went bang and felt fine to me, but I'm not an auto aficianado either. If you like 'em, get one!
  6. ... and God named them in-laws... sorry, I'm at my wife's in Kentucky right now.... and I'm VERY pissed off. ---- back to topic ----
  7. Call the Reloader's Bench in Mt Juliet. I think I saw a few boxes there awhile back.
  8. yep, they fixed it, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. I'm not the first or last to have UM blow up a gun. Just glad I wasn't hurt bad.
  9. Yup, Ultramax 55gr FMJ 'sploded my AR. STAY AWAY!!!!
  10. Oh yea, forgot about the burn!! I still have a little bit of a scar on the side of my nose where a .40 case landed, getting wedged behind my glasses. Ouch!
  11. Beer nuts are a buck and a quarter; deer nuts are under a buck.
  12. ...between beer nuts and deer nuts?
  13. Doubt that's reloads in a Federal box. Prolly XM193 or the like. (Military contract overrun, most likely) Usually very good stuff.
  14. Chuck Norris kicks Jack Bauer's a** for a morning workout.
  15. Bummer. Sounds like an extractor tuning needed to take place. I had that happen to me all of a sudden with a Sigma in .40. It started flinging forties right into my forehead! Going through the second mag after that started happening, the gun just stopped ejecting period. Borken extractor. I guess it just bent a little at first or something, then snapped. So tell us about the Para! How did it shoot for you?
  16. Another vote for the 357 here. I'd go for a heavier frame model, like a S&W 686 (L frame) or 27 (N frame) or the Ruger GP100. These guns will stand up to the beatings of heavier loads better than a K frame like a model 19. You can find 7 and 8 shot L frame Smith and Wessons, too! I think a good gun in 357 mag is about as versatile as you can get in a handgun, especially if you are limited to factory loads. If you reload, I'd say you've got a little more leeway still with a .44 mag, but bullets are more expensive for the .44, especially factory fodder.
  17. great minds and all, you know! Do you cast for .357 and .44? and where do you live? I may have a lead source if you want to work out a barter deal of some sort. =)
  18. Nope, but I may load 100 rounds or so tonight. Does that count?
  19. 53% yes 47% no

    Taurus Judge

+1 krater. If you're all hung up on birdshot, get some CCI shot cartridges. The .410 slug out of a handgun is about the same or less effective than a std pressure .38. a .410 slug is usually 90 grains. A .38 is usually 125 or 158 grains, and generally a better bullet design, and probably much more accurate. I can't imagine an N frame is any harder to carry than The Jug... I mean... The Judge. Shorter cylinder, to boot. If you really want something different, I'd rather spend less money on a Carter Pug in 44 spc. The 44 spc is a great defensive round, and you can get shot cartridges from CCI. Smaller and cheaper than the Taurus. http://www.charterfirearms.com/products/Charter_Bulldog_14420.html Sorry if I peed in anyone's cheerios!
  21. Well... this is the long gun forum, but it seems that everyone is psting their favorite pistols, so I guess I'll join in the de-rail! S&W 19-3, 3 Ts. I LOVE this gun! No special story behind this one, really. I haven't inherited any guns other than Ruger Single Six that my Dad gave me last year. However, my kids will get a buttload of cool stuff when I kick the bucket! (Assuming the wife and I get around to procreation, instead of just recreation!)

    Jew Jitsu?

    how's that, Strick?
  23. You said you already reload, so that's cool. How 'bout building the mother-of-all reloading benches?
  24. http://www.hornady.com/story.php?s=786 Looks kinda' like a new take on the EFMJ design principle to me. (IE: non-hollowpoint, but still made to expand) What do you guys think? Has anyone here seen/tried this stuff yet?
